Solving social program issues

When I look at our social programs I see this. Just about all of our social programs are bankrupt. Why? Well one big problem is mismanagement and misspending by our government. They don't run the programs right and not enough oversite. Heck social security is in trouble because our elected officials spent the money on other programs and projects left worthless IOUs in there place. Which have never been paid back. NOr will they. That was our money. They stole it. Another problme is too many people are taking from these programs than are paying into them. Therefore the money runs out. So how do we solve this problem? Because most of our social programs are in a real danger of not being around much longer. Unless that is of course if hte government keeps running up the national debt to keep them afloat and leaves it to future generations to pay for. But is that really right to make our kids and grandkids to do that? What are your ideas?

LIL, I know of one social program that had alot of money, but it was raided by Bush so he could pass his NO BILLIONAIRE LEFT BEHIND BILL. Remember the Social Security "lock box"? I wonder if this was the reason people saved less during his time in office than in any other in history. If the president doesn't believe in it, they why should the people?

Lil, should I used the MyLot tatic of "just because someone else did it, doesn't mean that it is right", excuse? I hate it when people do this to me, so I won't do it to you. I agree that there are many examples of other presidents doing this, but I can honestly say that if Bush had left that money alone social security would not be in as bad of a situation as it is now.

Same could be said for a lot of presidents and congressmen too. Which does not make it right that any of them did it and they ALL share the blame. I just wish there was some way we could get the money back into SS where it belongs.

The government has already proven they will continue to run up the national debt to keep social programs going. Have any of these programs be a help to anyone?

And yet the Democrats want more and more social programs and big government to keep people dependent on the dole and keep themselves in power. Social Security has always been nothing but a Ponzai scheme and now it is running out of new people to be forced to pay into not to mention the mismanagment.

spend spend spend and no money. It is just nuts. YOu know the bills from all that money we borrowed from China will come due someday soon. What are we suppost to do then? We need smaller gov. less intrusive into people's lives. People deserve to keep more of the money they earn. They earned it. Put in the hours and work. Shouldn't they get to keep more of it and spend on what they want to spend it on instead of on the government.

Politicians are fairly wealthy people I think we would all agree. So I have an idea, make every position in running the country a volunteer position! Let the people have a say in who volunteers but take away the fat checks and you will find the people who are really interested in taking care of the country. If that is too extreme how about we take the paychecks and offices away from congressmen and women who are no longer in office? Why are they paid and have office space paid for by tax dollars when they are free to pursue other employment? Now take all that money rebuild social security and pay off as much of the national debt as possible. Problem solved! Oh and if you can work ... work! Do away with all these programs that pay people to sit on their backsides! BEFORE I get crucified I know there are people who NEED some of the social programs we have. I also know that SOME people are professionals at avoiding work and taking as much as they can get for free because I have seen it with my own two eyes!

Big government is bad government without exception. A lot of the programs that exist now and people have grown to depend on have no business existing. My solution would be to reduce government until it is the size it should be according to our founding fathers. SMALL.

I agree. But there are too many free loaders to let that happen easily or even nicely.
