Do you AIR your room everyday?

The first few things I do when I get up in the morning is to pull up the shades, open the window and air the room. I let the window open until I am ready to get back to bed at night to sleep. Of course I've installed the insect netting to prevent insects from coming into my room. I just can't stand being in a room that has not been properly ventilated. I dislike stale air. That is one reason I dont really like being in a hotel room. Though they have some kind of ventilation system, they rarely open the window to let the air circulate. I know of someone who can live in a closed and confined space for a very long time. She used to be my housemate long time ago. The moment she opened her room door, you can faint from the whiff of air that came out from there! She never opens her room window and she is able to live that way.. All of us think that it is a miracle she stays 'alive' in there! What about you? Do you air your room often?

Hello submerryn, I do the same like you! Every morning I pull up the curtain and open the window widely. Besides getting the fresh air, it is good to dust away all the dust from the dressing tables, pillows, blankets and the blankets as well. But I will get the window close again when my daughter take her nap in the afternoon. ! We don't install any insect netting so the window will be closed till the next day morning.

Yeah, I just think that a bed room is so important place for us. We spend and sleep at least 8 hours in our bed room. so it is important for us to keep the bed room clean and fresh. Just open the windows for some fresh air is an easy way to keep the room fresh. Other than that, I sweep my bed room twice a day and I mop the floor twice or more a day!

vngyan, Oh yes, it is always good to be dusting all those. Nothing beats sleeping in a clean and fresh room. Makes us fresh and healthy! :)

We open the blinds but don't open the windows unless there's a breeze, but we rarely do that. When I have my own home I may open the windows more often, maybe just the kitchen window, or maybe all. It's nice to have the windows open, and all electronics off (except for the computer, that is, if you're mylotting!) and just to breathe in and listen to the beautiful sounds outside. It's a good idea to do this instead of use air fresheners, I try not to use those as often as possible!

I am very glad that I have made you dream! Or rather get lost in a fantasy! My fiance and I will be living behind his parents, and in the country is where we live now and will! I hope to have a beautiful garden that I can look out from my front and back yards, so a garden all over!

The window in my bedroom is usually open all day and all night. I open the curtain in the morning to give it sunlight. I love to have windows open for fresh air to be going thru the house. I can't wait for the cooler weather to come for that reason. Where I just need to wear a sweatshirt and jeans and it will be comfortable. I too can't stand stale air. Its also very unhealthy for us.

lelin, I would love to have my windows open at night when I sleep too. Unfortunately, due to the airconditioning, we have to keep it close. When I nap in the afternoons though, I nap without the air cond and I'll leave the window open!

We don't have air condition here its called a cooler which is on top of the house. However, with this system there should be a window or two open. During the summer I didn't even need the cooler on at night because we have the ceiling fans on.

Dear submerryn, I am feeling guilty already. I only open the window for fresh air during weekend. That's means once a week. I will do it everyday starting tomorrow. The problem is if it rains, no one will close the window. Must find a solution fast...thanks!

Iriene, If the rain is what you are afraid of, then you may just leave it open for a few minutes. That really helps too you know. It doesnt need to be the whole day. Just a couple of hours is good too! :)

submerryn.. me too salute your friend being able to stay in such a room condition.. I myself won't be able to do that.. Each morning, I will open up all my windows for at least an hour or so, just to air it a fair bit before I leave a gap since I don't have insect nettings. and in those hotels, sometimes, I just open the door instead just to air the room.. or if I got in those room that I can open the windows, I be really happy for that, since I know I can open the windows a bit..

cwong, Now that you have princess with you, it is advisable to get the insect netting done. You may actually DIY. I DIY mine! In hotels, I dont leave the door open! Scary. I dont leave the window open too. Scary too.. hahahaha.. I really am a coward person!

Yes, often enough, in fact every day, when i wake up, i opened all the windows and even the balcony door.. the morning sun is the best, Vitamin D, K, right? Then during weekends, I take out my pillows, blanket and lay them on the balcony railing, around noon or so, i collect them back and let them cool down in the room. By night, I can smell the freshness, these are important stuff that we are close to each night cos we hold them close to our hearts and face.. lol...

There are many times we open our windows and doors to get some Fresh air. We do need to consider getting a screen slider for our sliding door to our deck and for the windows as we just bought a New house, but it is always good to open them from time to time when we can to let in a little fresh air for sure.

Hi. sumerryn. I hardly do this. In the past, I used to. I now use fans or I leave my room door opened wide.

Yes, I do air my room everyday. In fact, as long as I'm at home, I like all the windows to be open at all times. The only exception is when it rains heavily... Anyway, I feel that it's important to be in a room that smells fresh. I really hates it when the air is stale too... As for hotels, I guess it's true that sometimes it's really a bit ... but I sometimes like to open the hotel door wide for a while before closing them so as to let some air in. For your previous housemate, I guess she's already used to the smell... Well, I won't stand her if I were you. I will make sure that I don't ever have to go to her room...

Wow, I think I could die of suffocation if I am to live in the same room with your housemate!! I must draw the curtains and open the window each time I get up every morning even when my hubby is still sleeping. I need that fresh air. I will always leave it open until 6pm every day except when it is raining heavily with strong wind. I also don't like being in the hotel room all the time and try to avoid a windowless room. I had a bad experience before where I could not sleep well because I had trouble breathing. I think it was because the air circulation in the room was very poor. It is understandable that most hotels will lock the windows for safety reasons, but I think the housekeeping staffs should air the guest rooms once in a while even if the rooms are not occupied and not depending too much on the ventilation system.

I must air my room everyday in morning, once everyone wake up from the bed. I will pull the curtain aside and open the window slightly wider to let more fresh air come in to the room and get rid of the smell in the room. When it comes to the afternoon hours during the sun shines in, I will close up the curtain and window too to lesser down the heat goes into the room. When comes to evening time, after the sunset, I will open the window again for air again. Before sleep, will on the fan or air-con with door wide open for 15 min before everyone sleep in. I can't stand in a room without good air circulation too. If I'm at hotel even with air-con on, I will still open the window the first thing when I step into the room to let more fresh air in. Else, I think I will get sick without good fresh air circulate in the confined area. I came to know that, air the bathroom also another good practise, whereby we don't go into the bathroom immediatedly right after the first person came out from it. From what I know that the bath smell, body smell or whatever you breath in the bathroom will cause us sick, but don't know how true is it. Always I will wait for 15-20 mins before next use.

I can't stand staying in the room with a stale air. I just dislike that kinda of smell. Once my son has waken up in the morning, I will open my curtain and then same time open the window to get a fresh air in,of course my window has insect netting for protection. Sometimes I will spray some perfumes (used for spraying room), just to make my room feel more fresher and have better smell. Apart from window, I will open up my bedroom door too, I have insect netting door to protect any insects for going in to my bedroom. I will only close both the window and the door when my son is time for napping. Then I will on the aircon and my bedroom just smell nice and fresher.

It has been a habit of mine to ensure the room is bright and filled with the freash morning air each time i wake up. If i need to close the door (because of mosquitoes), I'd draw the curtains wide, and open the windows to let natural light and air circulate in the room. Then the room won't have that stale atmospheres.

kev, Good! I love to have sunshine in my room too. It really brightens up my day! That's why when I wake up on a rainy day, my day will be slow and mellow too. Because there is no sunshine and it's gloomy. But I love sleeping when it is raining at night! :) Mozzies? They are everywhere!

Hello Submerryn, I am first timer. To be honest, since I moved in to my current house since the last two years, I never open my bedroom windows. I am just too afraid the mosquitoes will fly in through the windows since I did not install insect netting. What I do is, just open the bedroom door every morning and will closed it after my girl wake up from her afternoon nap.

All my windows are always open, all year round, except when it is raining. All windows are security screened, so they can stay open all the time. I like fresh air.

I am living in colorado where the temperature can change obviousely from day to night. When I feel the air in my room is not clear I will open the windows and refresh it.But in the night after opening windows a while It will feel cold due to the low temperature, then I will close the window.Fortunately the air condition of this place is very good;the weather is dry and I do not need to open the window all the time to preventing bad smell.I just open my windows about 1 hour every day before sleeping normally and I feel good about the environment of the beberoom. I had ever stayed in a room without any windows when I was a technician in the institute in China. It was terrible to living in that place. The room is dark all the time. When I got up in the morning,I even could not feel the time and it was very hard to open the door to face the sunshine. In this close environment, the air condition was so poor that there was always a strange smell in the room, and it was very moist, dull. The environment gave me a upset feeling and I was surprised I could survive in this place. So now I am very preciated to the place that I am living:it is beautiful, comfortable, suuny, and clear.

We keep a small window open most of the time - it has to be really bad weather for us to shut it. But I do throw the bed covers back each morning to let it air. Like you I don't like stale air, it's not nice and it isn't healthy either.

I aerate my home everyday. I find it hard to breathe if a room is stuffy and humid. Some people can live that way but I can't. It's so uncomfortable. I'm with you. I can't stand being in a room that isn't properly ventilated.
