My friend fell down the stairs. His girlfriend just laughed.

So, yes, my friend fell down the stairs. He was careless but he only really slipped down five steps I think. His girlfriend just stood there laughing so hard. He wasn't really hurt or anything. Just had a minor abrasion on his elbow. I was dumbfounded. Laughing can be contagious, yes, but that time I was stunned so I helped him up and she just kept laughing. She apologized but still kept laughing. What would you do if you were him? He was a bit pissed off and didn't talk to her for a day or two.

I wouldn't find it funny if my partner fell. And it would absolutely not be funny at all if they weren't laughing at themselves. I'd be more worried about whether he was okay or not, She sounds a little childish if you ask me.

My partner has fallen over quite a few times but my initial reaction would be not to laugh. If he did laugh, I would laugh with him but I sort of "feel" things out like whether or not he got hurt. She does sound a bit childish. I think she should've at least helped him up.

Yes exactly, if he thought it was funny, I might laugh along with him. But no way can I imagine myself laughing at him.

I've laughed when this happens to friends, too. As long as they aren't hurt, it is kind of funny. You can't help the laughter, though, either. Especially if the fall was a little comical.

I would agree, as long as they don't hurt, it is kind of funny. In this case, my friend was slightly hurt so I wasn't laughing. Thanks for sharing.

His girlfriend is so insensitive, she could act decently by helping his boyfriend and ask if he is fine and if he was hurt, you know showing concern in that situation is very important and something valuable. But laughing for someone who slipped or fall is not a good idea of a healthy relationship ahead. I could have slap her if I were him.

I agree with you. My boyfriend has slipped and fallen over before but I didn't laugh. IF he did laugh, I would laugh with him but there were times when he hurt his ankle so obviously, it wasn't the time to laugh. She could've at least helped him up. Thanks for commenting

Well, nothing is wrong with laughing. But personally, I would have seen if he was ok, helped him up, THEN got my giggles out.. think it's a little disrespectful to just stand their and laugh without helping.

I think if she did that, it would've helped the situation. She didn't help. Just laughed so I can't blame him if he was upset with that bit. Thanks for sharing :-)

I think she knew the impact of the fall as she was also witnessing it right? So she probably might have thought that nothing has happened & has taken that as funny. We do act childish when something happens unknowingly.

It's not really anything to be angry about, if he wasn't hurt. Laughing when someone falls is a normal reaction. That's why on home video shows they have whole segments of people falling or being hurt in some way. It actually IS funny!

I honestly didn't know how to react because the three of us together. My friend wasn't too pleased with the reaction of his girlfriend so I felt uncomfortable. She could've at least helped him up but she just stood there laughing. It can be funny sometimes but I must admit that I felt "awkward" as if I was standing in "the eye of the storm".
