I feel like crap and I know why. I dont eat well, I smoke and I have stopped exercising. I know what to do to change it but its hard for me to find the motivation. It would seem like to live and be a father for my three kids is enough but I cant find motivation. I was very athletic I am a teacher for a living and im a writer. There is alot of talent. But there has always been something missing. Im 47 and be fore you say go to church and that will solve everything. I was a missionary for 10 years that disillusioned me anymore. I wont ever give up and stop trying but how do I get the motivation, the inspiration?

Have you tried positive affirmations? I know it sounds stupid and it takes a while to work but they really helped me a lot when I was having trouble with depression. Louise Hay has some good videos/tapes out, if you don't want to pay for them her movies "You can heal your life" is on youtube, you can watch it there. I find her stuff very motivating. Basically, with positive affirmations you start each day stating what you want as a positive affirmation (stated positively as if it already has happened). So if you want to start exercising again you might say "I am eager and motivated to exercise" or "I am in great shape", you say this maybe 4 or 5 times or more if you want in the morning and at night and any time you start to think about how you don't exercise, think about those affirmations instead. It might take a little while to work and you will probably feel silly at first but it does work if you really try. Good luck!

Glad I could help Source, prayer is an excellent way to find motivation. I have never tried self hypnosis Gracee, but from what I have heard I believe it is very similar.

I believe I must learn to pray again. That is my problem. I will try to fight my way to consistent prayer. Thanks Runner

Hi sourceseeker. Could it be that you are missing out on love? Could it be that you are tired of being a father? Could it be that you just need a vacation? How about trying something new for the family like a monthly activity or something? Even missionaries or those in the religious life have moments on dryness in their faith. I would like to salute you for your persistence. I really think you just need a break.

Thank you for your response Grace. Yes love is missing but the most important love is love of self and love of God. I know now that I must ask God in prayer to guide me. I must learn to pray again. If I learn to pray again and positive energy guide me I will have a chance to find the love I need. I have to have patience in God also. Keep believing in the power of prayer. Thanks Grace.

hello again. you are on the right track. even i am guilty on my prayer life too. and my life does feel like crap too. this must be the reason why i was able to relate to your life. Haaayy... And discernment is something so hard to ponder on. They would say keep a meditated life and God will whisper the answer to your prayers. The problem with me is that i am so preoccupied, i barely get to hear him. and i couldnt even tell the signs even if it was already hitting me on the face. haaayyy... maybe we do need a break and get a personal spiritual director who would refresh us on this. You are a missionary, perhaps you need someone a lot higher than you who could facilitate your meditation. and you are right on that. we need to love ourselves more before we would be able to love other people.

It's hard sometimes to find the will to do what needs to be done. I have gained a lot of weight lately (I think from the diabetes) and it just seems so hard to fight. I'm planning to go to the doctors soon and see if there is anything he can do. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**
