Hi! I am needing advice. The job I have (waitress) has been pretty good, as I worked 5-6 days a week with about 36 hours + tips. But here is the problem there is new owners at this establishment and they have simplified the menu and have eliminated some of the duties that I did so now I am not as busy as I was so they now have been sending me home early. I lost 7 hours of work last week because of this. Also on the schedule for the next two weeks they have me down for only 4 days each week. I can not live off of this. I need to make the same as I did before (if not more) in order to make it. Another problem of being sent home early is that I ride a bus (15 miles) to work and this bus can only come at 5:00 so if they send me home at 3:00 I am stuck in town for 2 hours before they can come and take me home. So if the boss thinks she is giving me more time at home to be with the family she is mistaken. I know that I should talk to my employers but I am scared. I don't want to get fired but I just can't live on less money. My old employer NEVER sent me home early. If I didn't have much to do I cleaned the walls or something. I even offered to help the cooks the other day but she still told me to go home. Oh what to do? I don't always like change but they always say that "change is good". What can I do????? Thanks.

Boy, I feel for you... this is terrible. I'd say talk to your boss and tell her your problem, but not knowing her and her being the new boss...it might be a reason she wants to let you go all together. I've been in that position before. Employers don't want your problems...and they will use them against you first chance it is to their benefit. Only thing I can say is stick with it and maybe use those 2 hours to look for a new job. I wish you luck.

As I mentioned above yesterday was better so maybe I have to take the good days with the bad. However I do think that I will mention to her about taking the bus and how I can't get home when she wants me to leave early. Even if she would let me stay another hour it would help alot. We will see I guess.

well i guess technically there is nothing you can do other than confronting her and telling your boss your concerns. I can tell you work really hard in this job so you don't want to jeopardize your position either so think wisely before you act.

Thanks for your thoughts. At least yesterday was better at work. I did not get sent home early, I missed my lunch break so will get paid for an extra half hour there, and tips were the best I have ever had. So maybe I just have to wait out the inital "newness" of my new employers and things will get better. If tips were this good everyday it would not matter if I got sent home early once in awhile. But of coure I am sure that the tips will not be that good all the time.

Look at Melaleuca. It is a debt free company, it's near free to enroll, the train you and how you how to succeed through anything. If you are like me and demand better circumstances, take this into consideration. You get payed $25 to enroll someone, and starting at 7% of what everyone you enroll pays to shop with Melaleuca, and on up to 20% with 20 enrollments (the 20/20 club). If you need life's circumstances to change, I can give you some more information on this. Best of luck, take care my friend!!
