Many Psychologists claim that Insomnia is a mental disease developed by strong thinking patterns which trick the victims mind into believing that sleep is hard to achieve. Some other believe that Insomnia is a real disease where a person cannot achieve a state of sleep due to many reasons. Let's see what you think about Insomnia. Is it a disease or just too much caffeine consumption?

I could believe the theory about the strong thinking patterns. I have a tough time fallen asleep usually and will sometimes not be able to sleep when I try to. It could very well be a disease but I don't really know that many people are insomniacs as well.

Sometime one doesn't fall asleep because he/she isn't working enough. You should get mentally and physically tired in order to be able to sleep well. What do you say?

I would definitely agree with that. I think sometimes I don't fall asleep as easily because I haven't tired myself out enough or something like that. It could also be just getting used to staying up late from staying out later in the night.

Well I`m not really convince that its a disease but I just thought its one of the manifestation of a particular disease especially those with mentally ill persons (based from what I read in a column magazines). It also occurs most with those depressed and some chronic related disease like cancer, liver disease, etc and also with those people who are caffeine dependent pips.

I thank god for not giving me such problem, I have a very sound and nice sleep. But I know few people who don't sleep at night and stay awake till 4 or 5 in the morning, it's not that they never sleep, they just don't fall asleep at night. They are a kind of nocturnal animals They will stay awake whole night and then sleep during morning. It's a very bad schedule and affects your body health badly. Such people don't sleep because they might be nervous about some up coming exam or project or any similar task. Thats why they spend whole night preparing for it and finally when the mind and body can't take it any more, they give up and fall asleep. So, mostly it's just mental disease and no one can stay awake if that person has no tension and is completely relaxed and also tired after a whole day's work. Cheers!!

i think it is a mental disease. Mainly because of depression. sometimes if your body and mind is not tired, you may not get sleep at night.i remember during school, i had to stay awake to study for exams, and my mom used to give me hot tea or coffee to keep me awake and study. probably caffeine keeps ur mind alert

Yes, thats what I said. If a person is really tired after a whole day's work and his mind is completely relaxed without any tension of up coming project or any such tasks then he/she is bound to fall asleep as soon as they lie on bed. Nothing can keep them awake for the whole night. Some try to stay awake forcibly if there is a important task the very next day like you said you used to do it during your exams by drinking coffee or tea. This is not insomnia, when a person does not take any supplement like tea and coffee and still stay awake just because of tension, that's insomnia. Cheers!!

yes, I think Insomnia is a kind of health problem, something in your body that stops you from switching off and sleeping properly...
