That discussion was probably misunderstood by some users who are not in your part of the world. We can't have good days every day though my friend and instead of getting upset about it, it should spur you on to make up for and recover your losses! I don't look at ratings and rankings and I have forgotten about my own star ever going back up to where it was. It doesn't make any difference to the way I am so I might just as well not bother about it. Now where have you gone too?

Don't you think life would be boring if it was all on the flat? It's much more interesting with twists and turns in the road that we have to travel - it keeps us awake and aware of what is happening and if we keep on our toes it never gets monotonous

Yes, saw it.. I always check them when i receive further comments after the photos.. Again a great twist and turn today. Today is full of twists and turns. Next twist are Got the highest ever single day participation till now.. and also reached the one which all of them expecting to reach every month..

So, three good things happen consecutively. What's next.. A bad thing? May be i am banned???

I am a bit confused by this, but I don't think your lying. In your other discussion it was your niece who had a child... I told you in my country it would be the great niece, but I knew from another mylotter's discussion that that isn't the case in your country. It seems to me that every "great" relative is considered to be a granddaughter or grandson. You made a statement in this discussion as follows : "Do you think i am lying? I am telling the truth... We call the sons and daughters as grand son and grand daughter only.." what do you mean by this? Do you mean that while you do consider the niece's child to be a granddaughter you only call your own flesh and blood's children as grandson and daughter? please clarify.

Actually, I don't even look at my rankings. There could be other contributing factors. Maybe someone else got positive ratings. Maybe your comments actually didn't have anything to do with your falling in rank. Maybe someone else just got ranked better. Just a thought. Maybe you will be happy knowing someone wasn't rating you negatively, they were just rating someone else positively. Maybe they didn't even see your discussion. If people are rating over such insignificant differences as that, then they shouldn't be rating. No one should be rated on cultural differences.

If someone in that particular category got rated positively wouldn't that make you go down if they went up enough to move you from your spot? Someone could have ranked you negatively, but you need to overcome it and get your spots back. I know there was a couple idiots who kept rating everyone negative. Maybe he found you. If that happens it's best to try your best to get your rating and ranking back.

Hi mommaj, I agree with your statements about the ranking. What about my reputation that has falling down? I have increase in all my interest and fall in that particular interest. What does it mean? Hi dbu, I'm sorry to hear you lost points in your star. The only reason I know of is that someone must have negative rated you which is against the spirit of Mylot. I hope you know that they will lose points too by doing it. I don't understand what you mean by losing 500 ranks, I thought that meant that 500 people were more active than you in that interest. I check my rating daily and it just won't move. It takes far longer to go back up than it does to go down. I went from blue to yellow overnight by writing in one interest. I hope yours goes back up quickly.

Hi Thea, No, if we are rated very badly we lose more number of ranks.. Yes, i agree. If others are too active than us also our rank decreased. You can feel the difference. I was not at all active in that interest after the confused with relatives discussion. It was 3 days ago!.. I have lost only 20 ranks for no participation in there.. I suddenly lost 500 ranks in that interest. What does it mean? It is only during the negative rating. Have a great day..

I look at that discussion and seems like some people confuse about that, LOLz.. Don't be so sad, I'm sure, because you're active, your rank will be raised soon! Personally, I rarely check it, only make sure the color still same,,hehe.. I'm not really active here now.. Yes, yesterday I feel so happy because my college's holiday for 2 weeks. But I lost my pencil case with all the stationary inside it and now I'm having diarrhea, so I can't enjoy my holiday

It's nice, but I don't really understand what your avatar do.. You're right, if we start a new discussion, many people can see and rated it (our responders) but if we only respond maybe only the discussion starter who rated us after read our response.. or maybe the responders after us,,

Because while responding only discussion starter probably rate us. But while starting discussions every one is rate us.. Also, as you are less active here, you can choose the set of friends to respond who rates you positive.

Wow! i didn't know you were already ninety-nine, just surpass me yesterday. well, in mylot people can do almost anything and even sneak around putting people down just because they didn't like the topics. that's the problem of being so different. you're lucky they weren't much trolls around, the last i was here, the oldies suffered a heavy loss on their star bringing down trolls. in the end, we realized it was one of the my-lotters who was doing it. you can't please every one so be really careful with the topics you make, it can be a very bad impression on some people.just keep making good discussions, but think twice if it's really gonna be a good one.i know, i took risk too.

well, I was one of the victims of troll. They have done lots of damage to my ratings and reputation and some of my friends couldn't take it anymore and left. Now the atmosphere is far better than before.

Good riddance diana, these trolls now realize that mylot is no longer a good breeding ground for them as many of their 'gangs' have been caught and thrown to the fire of hell and hopefully lucifer is keeping them entertained there.

I dont really check my ranks.. in each interest you mean ? I'm not even sure how to do that.. please inform me friend. Maybe people rated you negative cause they dont understand that where you are from that is what's normal.. just as where they are from, their way is normal.. sometimes people dont always have an open mind..

I don't try to calculate my presence on mylot. I don't check where I got good ratings or bad, I only notice when my star changes it's color and then I think "Oh, someone rated me bad" but that happens. Cultural discussions are dangerous, yes. But if I had something to write I write it anyway. I nevere flame anybody and I think it's enough;)

It is really bad when we know that rated badly. Hmm.. From 96 to 99 i had nearly 10 days. But 99 to 96 in 1 day.. Very bad. Here onwards, i wont make discussions in that interest.. I am going to post in fun with friends only.

Hi there!

You can really follow what interest you were rated negatively? I am not very particular with these things here in mylot. I just keep posting and try to have fun while online. I don't put much attention to these things cause it only distracts my concentration and might, like you, mood off me while I mylot. Nothing really turns my mood down to mylot, well, only if my shoulders and back are aching already, that's when it irritates me and somehow makes me lazy to be working on in here. It's uncomfortable to be working when you don't feel so good. Ciao!

Why would you avoid responding on similar discussions or on the interest that you were rated negatively when it is your interest and you have many things to say about it? Don't be turned down on negative ratings. Me, when receiving negative ratings, I just try to think of it that we cannot please everybody here.

I had joined very few interest, so it is easy to trace where i am rated badly.. You are correct. It is better not to check it as it turns our mood off. But i can see the reputation here. When i lost more, i just can clearly know where i am rated badly and what discussion i am rated badly here. So, i can use it to avoid more participations in that interest or avoid similar kind of discussions there... Yes, body aches are always irritating.. Have a great day.

well... if my rank or reputatin would go down... i am not really that sure where i have gotten those negative ratings. its hard for me because i just keep on pooping and responding to anywhere i just love to. oh! just dont be sad my dear. ok?! and i know there is no such things as wrong responses. because we have our own views and opinion in every discussions we have to discussed with each other. but i am so happy i got 100/100... it was 99/100 before...t hanks for all those who gave me a good ratings friends!!! jhelai

I never really paid attention to ratings and rankings. I did notice that my star went from blue to red, so I guess that is a good thing. I wouldn't let it worry me, though, because we are just here to have fun and earn a couple extra bucks while we do it.

As I don't really know that much about rating and ranking this might be a dumb question, but are you sure you were rated negatively? If somebody else had more responses that got a "+" than you did, wouldn't that make their rating and ranking go up? If so, then wouldn't it also make your rating and ranking go down in comparison?

Dbu, thanks for the explanation. That makes sense. With 31,409 in this particular topic alone, 500 didn't seem like that big of a jump, especially since I don't know how much the "+" ratings affect the ranking or what a "normal" fluctuation is. Putting it in perspective the way you did, though, it does seem like you got a bunch of negative ratings, especially considering that yesterday you and Mike were competing with each other for #1 on the hot list, so you obviously were very active. By the way, I like your new avatar.

Hi purplealabaster, Yes, if someone got the more rating than you the particular day their rank goes up and your rank goes down. You can see the difference in the change in the ratings. I have been in the rank 727 in the Q&A section 3 days ago. I don't have any significant participation in that discussion after that. Now my rank is 730.. This is a normal thing.. But losing 500 ranks in a single day even with a active participation is definitely the impact of the negative ratings.. Have a great day.

Well, I'm a new mylotter and was never aware of the ranking system. Thank you all for all the inputs here, I know what it is. I think we should'nt be giving too much emphasis on rankings. This is a forum where you discuss on any topic and let's have fun discussing. The rankings will take care of itself. Maybe when I start getting ranked, I too will be checking it daily.

You can be ranked even from now itself if you continue to post the response in Quality way.. You get the star only after the 100 posts. If you post Quality right from now, you may see a good reputation when you reach the 100th post.. have a great day.

If you see a star near the user name and keep your cursor at the star you can see the reputation points out of 100. These points are rounded off to the nearest 10 to have in the star. Different numbers have different colored stars. You will get that star when you reach the 100 posts. You can see your ranks in the right side of the name in the every responses. Ex. you have 14,252 rank in myLot.com interest. In each interest you get a seperate rankings.

I don't know about the reputation and ranking thing that goes on in mylot. I'm a complete noob on this stuff, thanks for pointing it out. Well as for your ratings, that's too bad but we got a saying that "we cannot please everybody". The negative rating has a purpose, I think its too balance things out here in mylot. Imagine if the only option for mylotters is positive then mylot discussions would not be credible or as healthy as it is now.

Yes, there is a reason for the negative and I do not think it should disappear. However, I know sometimes people get rated negative just for having a difference of opinion. It is sad, but that is just the fact of just a subjective rating system. My philosophy on it is to just not let it bother me when my rank lowers.

Of course it's against the guidelines to give a negative rating just because you disagree, it's unethical and somewhat discriminating. I could give someone a negative rating if I find his/her post offensive to the general public and the content is utterly nonsense.

From personal experience I can say that I tend to look up at how my rants and reputations change daily. It's natural to care for those, since they're directly envolved to the earnings that we're going to make at end of a day, after all.

No ranks don't involve in the earnings. Only the ratings will be involved in the earnings.. But, we can find the positive or negative rating we got in that interest by comparing the previous day's rank and today's rank.. Have a great day..

I like to check what my rank is everyday, but I rarely look at my interest category rankings. I just look at the rank number as curiosity thing and do not let it get to me if it is lowers and honestly do not even get that happy when it gets higher either. It does not bother me much either way because overall it is a subjective rating system.

I am not saying that we should. I am just saying that it does happen. I never give a negative rating for someone with a different view then mine. Quite the opposite, I like to read other's viewpoints and happily give them a positive for expressing their point of view and not a fake agreement because they worry about their rank.

I don't really check my rank, reputation and all of that daily. It's not that I don't care about it at all, I just don't pay that much attention to it. People rate me negatively too, but I get a lot of positive ratings as well, so I don't mind. :) Just try to look on the bright side, you still have a higher rating than most people here!

hi fellow mylotter s read all the mylot information as it will settle all those questions you seem to have. and no you cannot know how anyone rated you so checking all that everyday will just drive you nuts. as for different cultures and customs we all come from different countries and I like this so much as I get to meet you both and learn from you and share and eventually become mylot friends with you.so ]do not worry about it and please do rate as you respond to others here. not rating is what keeps our reps not moving. rate as positive as you can and it will help your own star to move up. as for the changes we all get ours going up and d own. honestly I do not check them as it would just drive me nuts.Most of us wou ld never rank you low because you are from a different culture, thats what makes myulot such a great place for us to make friends from all over the world.

I am remember when I was new, someone give me negative because don't agree with me. Then, with collecting a ton of ton interest I can have good started. I have notice that was just not enough with only responding the discussions, I'm must be active more often right here and make a good topic. A few month ago, I'm inactive and I loss few of my interest ranking.
