This weekend we went and did one of the things that I truly love doing in our region during the fall. We went to the apple orchard where they were having their apple festival. That got me to thinking, I wonder what other people's favorite things about the autumn are. For us, it is apples and going to the orchard to pick our own apples. It is visiting the pumpkin farm and picking out the perfect pumpkin with our family. It is going to a local nature reserve and taking a hike when the leaves are at their most beautiful colors and just enjoying the outdoors. I look forward to hearing what some other people's favorite things about this season are. Perhaps you might have some that we would like to try.

Hey dorannmwin! My favorite thing about fall is watching the leaves fall... Since my daughter is a little older we are going to take her to the pumpkin patch this year, they have activities for children. My mother would take me when I was younger, there was face paining, toys, eating, a normal festival just aimed for the kids. I so enjoyed it growing up and I my daughter will as well.

We've done the same thing as far as the pumpkin patch. We started the tradition when my daughter was a year old and have continued it every year since then. She just loves it and my son, who is going to be three all too soon, loves it as well. His first trip to the pumpkin patch was actually on his first birthday. He refers to himself as Paulkin. The pumpkin patch that is near to us has a lot of things set up as well. They have two play areas, a petting zoo. They have the pumpkin patch and a corn maze. They have a haunted house and an underground mine. It is just such a neat place to visit.

My favorite things about fall are the colors and the sound of stepping on the leaves once they've fallen from the tree. It sounds a bit crazy but I use to love crunching through the dried leaves when I was younger and I still love doing it now. It's such a great crisp sound. I also like the fall colors. I have a 2hr drive when I want to go into the city and I love the drive in the fall because all the trees look beautiful. It makes the time seem a bit shorter I guess.

You are definitely right, the sound of the leaves crunching under your feet is another of the great pleasures of the fall. I can't explain why I love that either, but you are right. It is a great thing about autumn.

I love Autumn and Spring as the weather is nice, I hate hot weather and I hate really cold weather, so here in Australia summer is way too hot and winter is far too cold so Autumn and Spring have the typw of weather which is so much better than always feeling you have to stay inside.

It sounds like your seasons are much the same as ours are here. During our summer it is typically much too hot and during the winter it is typically much too cold as well.

All of the things that you've mentioned are a lot of the same reasons that as I get older I come to appreciate the fall more and more than I did when I was a younger woman. I really like feeling the bite to the air on the fall nights. I love taking my kids Trick-Or-Treating. I really like the decorations and all of the fall harvests.

This is a good question. There are many things I like about fall. I love knowing that I'll be getting fresh picked apples at the farm stands and stores. Also it's fun going pumpkin picking with the kids to the local farm. They always have so much fun finding the perfect pumpkins. We usually carve one out into a scary face and put a tea light inside it. I love seeing all of the leaves on the trees change into beautiful fall colors of red, yellow and orange. I like seeing people decorate their houses with corn stalks and other harvest decorations. It is also always fun just smelling the fall scents of crisp leaves that have fallen on the ground and maybe some kind of cinnamon or pumpkin spice that people have added to their outside door decoration. Then there is the excitement of going out to the stores with the kids to find a Halloween costume. They always get a kick out of trick or treating and I also like to see the many different costumes that come to our door on Halloween night. Fall to me brings a sense of peace and calm before the cold, dark, winter days ahead. Have a great fall season!

Taking the kids to choose their Halloween costumes is another of the simple pleasures that I enjoy during the fall. I love seeing that the costumes that the two of them choose are such an accurate reflection of who they really are. I love taking them outside on Halloween dressed up in their costumes to collect treats and seeing all of the other ghosts and goblins dressed up in their costumes as well.

This may sound sellfish and self-center in a way, but the reason why I love this particular season is that it's MY bIRThDAYy (oCtoBEr 26th)! The thing is that I live in the Caribbean, in an island next to Puerto Rico, and the seasons aren't that different from each other... I mean, it's summer all-year long! I love that it's sunny most part of the time, but I think it would be cool to have a few orange leaves now and then, or some snow... Happy MyLOtting and have a nice day! xP

Hahahaaha, so we're even! My mom always says: "everything is good with moderation" and I think she's totally right... It would be great to have a little bit of everything here, but I can't complain of the place I live in, :D

I have to admit, I am jealous to a certain extent that you live in a place where the weather is beautiful all year round. I love things about all of our seasons, but winter in particular, I'm not nearly as fond of it as I was when I was a child. And, there is nothing wrong with being a fan of a particular season because it is the one that your birthday falls in.

Ok, I am soo jealous right now that you live in the Caribbean! lol I've always wanted to go. But I'm not jealous of the seasons you guys don't experience. It's really nice to see winter/fall/spring/summer come in...

I love taking a hayride in the fall. It doesn't happen every year, but it seems from time to time we have a group of friends get together and go for a hayride. And even though there are a dozen conversations going on, and you might end up sitting next to people you never met, it's still a load of fun. I also enjoy the hoodie weather. Hoodies are one of my favorite types of clothes. They are just so comfortable, and they are expected to be baggy. And finally, friends of mine have a Halloween party every year. It is a load of fun. You never know what the turnout might be. There may be 75 people, or there may be 175 people. Either way, almost everyone dresses up, and it's so much fun. I have some friends that I met at my first one of their parties years ago, and it's almost the only time that I see them. But I still consider them friends because I see them every year at "the party"!

My daughter's class is going on a field trip to a local orchard in a couple of weeks and we are very much looking forward to that because we will get to have a hayride and pick apples and pumpkins on the trip. She really wants me to go with her. Halloween is a time of the year that I really enjoy as well, although it has been years since I have gotten to go to a Halloween party. I really enjoy it because I get to see all of the kids dressed up in their costumes and because my brother gets to scare all of the kids in the neighborhood as he is giving out candy.

I love seeing someone else refer to it as sweater weather. That is actually another of my favorite things. I could probably sit and go on and on about the things that I've come to love about this time of the year. The change in the weather is quite nice as well.

Fall for me is about crisp breezes, good chilli, Football games, scary books, Halloween candy, and a lot of back-breaking work in the yard to get ready for Spring. It's a time to slow down a bit right before the insanity of December. It's also a time to renew my commitments to myself. The year is almost over and time to analyse where I am, where I'm going and what I want to do about either.

Scary and empowering at the same time. When you make the decision to change something, especially something big it's like walking off a cliff and hoping to grow wings. Sometimes you soar above the clouds, sometimes you get really, reaquainted with square one. Good for you that you and your family are doing it together. Makes it much likely you'll be watching the view from up above.

I really like what you've said that fall gives you a chance to analyze where you are and where you are going. As this fall has started, I really believe that this year is the first time that we've done that as a family. We've made some decisions that are going to change our lives and I really like that.

Waking up to the bit of brisk air makes for such a sound sleep. Then get up to take an early morning walk to see the last bit of fog lift into the tree's as it unveils the beauty of God's paint brushing of the colors of fall encompassing within earths nature. Then there is the the vegetables coming to ripen and able to pick them to eat. Make them for a meal in the evening, or prepare them for freezing or canning to enjoy through the winter months.

When I read your discussion that is what came to mind and I figured why not type it out. Since fall is starting here for us, it is what truly is going on. Yesterday, when I got up we had a heavy layer of fog among the trees it was to me a beautiful site to see. To watch it gradually disappear to bring out the tree's and flowers here. That's what came to mind so I typed it out, Thank you for liking the way I wrote it. All seasons has the beauty, all we need to do is take the time to take it in now and then.

I guess this should be in reverse, my favourite thing about autumn would be I'm in Japan already.... We usually stay thee for a vacation during their autumn... The awe in just sipping tea and watching the leaves from orange to crimson shades is just exhilarating..

That sounds like fun. I've never thought about it that way. I imagine the changes in Japan are much the same as the changes that we experience here and I know that it is absolutely awe inspiring.

You know, I would have never thought about the fact that during the fall season it seems that people are nicer, but it is definitely a very valid point. I think that perhaps the reason that people seem kinder during this portion of the year is that we are now coming upon the holiday season. It is the time that we start to look forward to the generosity of the Christmas/holiday season.

Hello! I live in Manitoba. The things that I like about fall would be all the different colors that the leaves turn. When walking by the trees you can smell the leaves and the trees. The air is cool and seems to be alot fresher.I love to sit by a nice warm campfire on a calm fall evening.

All of these are great things about the fall. The colors are so vivid and beautiful. And the smell, I know exactly what you are referring to, but I can't think of an adequate way to describe it. It does seem like this is the part of the year that the world seems the freshest. And a campfire is just so much fun, that in and of itself brings back a lot of great memories to me.

I just bought my first gallon of apple cider of the season yesterday. I absolutely adore apple cider and was so excited to find out that it was already available. The orchard that we visited has the best apple cider that I've ever had. It is made right there on site and we've even had the opportunity to tour the cider making facility which made me appreciate it even more.

Hi, dorannmwin, so autumn is your favorable season, and you will enjoy the fruit harvest. I also like autumn, as in our place, autumn is of moderate temperature, and little rain, so sky is high and blue, just time for travel. We have over ten tourist bus lines, and new ones are under planning. On weekends, we often go to little towns within 50 to 100 km distance, which are so different from the busy city life.

I have to admit, autumn has not always been my favorite season, but in the past several years I have come to appreciate that there is so much about it that is distinct and that I love. Whereas in some of the seasons there is one specific thing that I like, in the autumn there are a lot of things that I like.

We have lots of family birthdays (including mine) in September which is a great way to start the Autumn. I love watching the trees change colour and in recent years we have had an Indian summer in the UK, with lots of sunshine in September/October which makes the trees look even more beautiful. I love Autumn mornings, seeing the spider webs covered in dew and seeing the sun come up through the mist. My boyfriend always gets excited about Halloween which to me is the culmination of Autumn. Once November starts I feel wintery and start focussing on Christmas.

Birthdays, how could I have forgotten about the family birthdays that we also have in the autumn. It kicked off with my youngest niece's birthday just last week. Then, this week is my sister-in-law's birthday. My sister's birthday occurs at the beginning of October. Then, my son's birthday is in the middle of October. My brother's birthday is at the beginning of November. I can't believe that I nearly forgot about all of the birthdays that our family goes through during the autumn.
