Well, im sitting here thinking I really should see whats going on although I usually get to upset watching news. I turn it on and find out Patrick Swayze died today. what a sweet lovely man he was. You just wonder why the good die sometimes and some of the bad guys live what seems like forever. Stars seem to be dropping like flies this year then next thing I hear is, that lovely sweet girl that was missing at college that was to be married Sunday was found murdered. so im saying to myself now, why did I watch the news? its terrible. sometimes i go days and dont watch. How do you feel about these news items? do you dread watching the news as much as I do?

Yeah, Patrick Swayze was one of the good guys. Not that I pretend to know him like a lot of people do (why DO people act like they know celebrities personally?) He always came across to me as a genuine and sincere good person. I'm sure he will rest in peace.

I guess news channels like to show bad news. They concentrate on the bad news more than the good events. If a celebrity does a small deed then it becomes headline news. I prefer watching quality news channels.

I gave up on watching the news back in 2000. I got so tired of the news being so bad and depressing. Not only is it the factor of hearing about public figures dieing, but also the murders, rapes, thefts, fires, and so much more. I found that I was getting so depressed that I wasn't able to function well. I still get some news, but not the inundation that I had previously when my Mom would watch the news every day and night. I keep hoping that the newscasters will have a corner for "GOOD" news so everything isn't so dreary! But, apparently bad news sells...

I don't watch the news as much as I used to because they are so selective in their coverage. We don't see the truth, just what they want us to see. They want us demoralized and hopeless so they don't give us anything beyond the depressing. The ACORN scandal is barely covered on the major networks, neither is anything that could be negative to the current administration. It's better for my mood and outlook if I avoid the news! I still try to get some truth every day, though. I'm sorry to lose Swayze. I remember watching his dad on Wild Kingdom when I was a child, I think that was his dad. Patrick was very talented and a wonderful person from what I hear.

Hello! My fiance went online and told me of the news on his passing and I was sad. He faught to live and wanted to and never gave up. He even worked on a sitcom show I heard . He was a true sweet man who was not in the light that often he was married to the love of his life for over 30 years That is what I am thinking about his family . I will always remember him from dirty dancing and being that 8 year old kid dancing all over the house and all over the sofa. That truly is a cult classic movie and I wonder if he minded. Its strange because on my myspace page I just had up she is like the wind and he sang that. On to the news it shocks me really and not too often do I watch it , but I know what is going on because my fiance tells me . Last week there was a little boy who wondered out of his house and fell down a septic tank... I didnt know what to make with that

I agree bunnybon, it seems more bad has been going on than good which has me thinking quite a bit about the end of time being near and I'm wondering how near is it because God is taking home a lot of good people and leaving the bad and might be after the rest of us sooner than we think. All I hope for is that He takes my animals first so they won't be homeless when I leave this world. But yes, the news does show more of the morbid side of things rather than the good things and I haven't watched it as much as I used to. I used to watch it to get the updates on what's going on in my area and world but now it's really gotten too depressing.

Yeah, it can be depressing watching the news, I was upset about hearing Patrick Swayze too, I really liked him alot, don't know how many times I've watched his movies. I usually watch the news for my local weather, the rest of it is so depressing sometimes.

I have mentioned to people how the celerbity are dropping like flies. Very strange. What is up with that? For at least since Katrina the weather everywhere is all wacky. It sure looks like the end times discribed in the Bible to me.

yes, why do the good die and young too. He was something. I hope his wife is with loved ones and doing okay. She has been so strong and was able to be with him and know the end was coming. Sad, but luckier than some.

Almost forgot the question. I don't watch the news very often. I don't care for the feeling it gives me. The Notebook is just ending. We should all be that lucky.

Stop watching news. But if you close your eyes will every thing be dark? Bad or good you can't stop anything. Take every thing easy.Accept the rule of nature.

I watch the news twice a day 7 days a week. Yes some of the news is very depressing but they do have some good news. While I am very sad when I heard about someone being murdered or missing without the news we would not know what was going on around us and if someone knows about these terrible things that has happen hopeful by the news reporting it they will call and inform the police. I have seen were people setup events to earn money to give to different charities. You can also see the results of school sports if you have children or friends in shcool. I also like to know what the weather will be the next day.

yes at times the weather is good to know but even they mess that up a lot. especially here where they've been predicting rain for several days and still none. whats that about? or it ends up pouring on one end of phoenix, but not a drop at the other. this must be a very hard area for weather prediction

I am a major Swayze fan and was so hopeful that he would recover. I lost my grandfather to pancreatic cancer last year so I know how horrible it is. I quit watching the news and turn off the radio when news comes on. I have even asked all my family to quit telling me the news unless it is something good. I have nine family members in the military and just cannot watch it anymore. I stressed myself so bad when I had all nine deployed at the same time.

It is really hard because then you are a nervous wreck waiting for more news. I rarely turn the t.v. on unless it is for the kids. The only ones deployed now are my husband and one of my brothers. Two of my cousins will be leaving when they are coming back. I don't see how my parents and in-laws can watch it. I guess maybe they are just more accustomed to it. I completely understand and respect anyone that can not watch the news.

It's always doom and gloom isn't it, you just can't see to escape it, that is why I also try to avoid reading newspapers and watching the news, trouble is good news doesn't sell, imagine having a newspaper full of happiness, it wouldn't sell. Same with news reports on the television, how many times have you tuned in to the news to find good news stories? No, people don't want to watch it. Sad to say, we thrive on heart wrenching stories and negativity because it comes too often. I hardly ever watch the news for these reasons, I still find out through Mylot ironically but I have enough problems in my own life without adding to them.

I don't always watch the news and this was a day that I did not. I knew that Patrick Swayze was sick but this is the first I've heard of his passing. That's too bad. He was a very talented actor and musician.

We have flare ups of political violence in ghetto areas and sometimes I do not watch our local news for several months. I hate it when the elections start coming the place goes crazy. I did watch the news on the real sweet lady and feel so sorry for her. Patrick Swayze was one of my favourite stars. May they both rest in peace.
