In fact for me reading before going to sleep is a must. Not that reading acts as some kind of sleeping pill. No! I simply love reading so, I would feel out of my element if I dont get to read. But i have one of my colleagues who regularly uses library books to induce sleep. He says thay are the best and "non-invasive". May be habit forming or conditioning types but definitely not harmful.

CatS as in MORE than one cat - and I tend to have 3 trying to get in my face, and generally 1 or 2 more on TOP of me. I am NOT allowed to NOT pet the catS.

I like to read before I go to sleep. In general, I guess that it helps me sleep but more often than not, if the book is good, I just stay up longer in order to read more of it. Nighttime is the only time I usually have to read but it sometimes backfires on me because I do stay up so late that I end up with only 4 or 5 hours of sleep before the morning.

Yes, sometimes. I know reading books or magazines helps me be asleep quickly. But if I want to read some my favorite books I become more excited and don't want to go sleep.

That is the problem. So you'd better choose some magazines to read before sleep.

I do enjoy reading before bed but the only problem I have is that I seem to stay awake too long. The story usually captures me and I spend most of the night reading.

You could choose some boring books to read when you want to fall asleep.

Reading in bed before sleep is great. But I think I need to buy new pillows, because when the book is too intriguing to put down, I get a stiff neck.

I love to read before I fall asleep. Of course, most of the time I fall asleep with the book still open!

I always read before bed. I normally decide what time I want to sleepand 30 minutes to an hour before bed, I go there, and just read.

I always read before sleeping. It relaxes me and clears my mind before trying to get some zzz's. I've been doing that since junior high and it was such a good habit. Even reading fiction books, I learn things and expand my vocabulary.

I always read in bed, it winds the brain down lol! Some books are better than others, I like to call the best sleep-bringers "MacDonalds for the brain", you don't have to think too much about them. Dave Barry is excellent for nodding off :)Some are awful for getting to sleep, the sentences must be pored over and thought about (something I reserve for the daytime) and the brain gets all worked up and whirrs around for ages so the eyes cannot close. Don't read A Brief History Of Time for the first time while in bed!

Hi Yuhogchao, I am not a bookworm and I don't read any books in my day. Recently I do subscribe to a parenting magazine and It only take 2-3 days for me to finish up my reading. Normally , I will play my handphone game before I sleep. And I like to stay late at night. I like doing MyLot lately, trying my best to hit the payout,Facebook and blogging. I can stay up till 2-3am to do my stuffs and I do hope I can stay even longer, but I can't as I have to wake up at 7am in the morning.

I, too, love to read, and yes, I, too, read in bed before I go to sleep. I usually read some light non-fiction, but I never study something that I have to remember, just in case I get forgetful when I get drowsy.

oh, i have tried to adjust to that, but the only problem is, i dont remember most of the things i read by morning time. it feels like i read but cant recall the wordings. And your no what, i usaully don't go beyond three pages. i think this style is suited for readers of romantic novels. The obssessions and fantacies can keep you awake, but if you are reading books like, the "american judicial system" or "understanding volcanoes" or "science and creation" then you are doomed.

I do enjoy reading before I go to sleep. I try not to read anything "heavy" or depressing. Something that's going to relax me and put me in a good mood such as a "Chicken Soup For The Soul" book or even a magazine or a romance novel.

Maybe it's a good habit...not for ME! I am so much devoted to reading the book in a single go that I may end up being awake throughout the night reading the book :( So usually I avoid that. Umm.. I start thinking so much that it's not a peaceful sleep either. But anyway, best wishes for this habit of yours...

I love to read and to read before bed is a daily routine for me, I also get sleep peacefully after reading a book so I have to read everyday. It is indeed a very good habit before sleeping.

I do like to read lying in bed before sleep and indeed, it is a good habit. But, sometimes i just can't do that because I am so tired of a day's work. The mind is willing but the body just can't go on.

hey there. I sometimes read before sleeping also. It can really relax me and helps me get off to sleep. But this doesnt also work especially if the book is exciting and I cant put it down. So can have the opposite effect in some cases. I cant sleep without noise so have to have either radio or tv on when I sleep too. Wierd but luckily my wife is exactly the same! Cheers
