How often do you light candles?

A friend of mine once went with me to the mall. While we were there, I bought quite a lot of candles. Most were tea candles. She was quick to respond by saying: "What's with you and candles? Did someone die?" I thought she was joking but apparently she wasn't. So, I told her it's for my home. I light candles for aromatherapy. I use it to burn oils and not for dead people. I use a few candles daily to keep the scent in my apartment pleasant. Most of the time I use scents that are calming so I can relax. How often do you light candles? Do you use them only for dead people?

Hello, Rg. Thank you for the add. ;-) I love scented canddles. I hav them in the bathroom, in my room, dining room and even in the living room and kitchen. It is mainly for aromatherapy plus the fact that they are making my place smells nice and clean. I prefer lighted candles instead of a bed side lamp. The soft glow of its flame makes me doze off easily. Whenever, I am cooking, I am also lighting at least one or two candles to contradicts the fouls smell from the dish especially the fishy smell and when I'm inside the bathroom and or toilet. LOL.Have a great day.:-)

Thanks for accepting. I enjoy your posts so I thought I'd add you to stay "updated" whenever you start your discussions. I love scented candles and in fact, I have one lit right now. It's cold and rainy here at the moment so I'm in my room, with my computer with my lamp and candles. It's almost bedtime so I'm trying to sedate myself by creating a drowsy and lazy ambiance. LOL. Ah yes, we do the same when we cook. Scented candles does wonders for dishes with fish sauce and other stinky stuff LOL. Thanks and enjoy the rest of your night.

Not that often. I only light candles whenever I go to Baclaran church, it's one of the famous church here in Philippines and when I want to wish for something I light a candle and when I pray. I once collected a candle, but since it's been a trend then, lot's of people collect candles. Candles become expensive so I just forget about it.

I have not really lit any of the candles. The only ones I have lighted are on birthday cakes. The other candles were when the electricity went out. Aromatherapy candles should be good. I have not tried that yet. How good are they? Calming and soothing? Then I must them out too.

We have this Eucalyptus scent that is supposed to be calming and soothing. I think it works because whenever i burn it, I get drowsy.

I love scented candles and either burn them or put them on the warmer, which is a safer option when my grandchildren are around. I like seeing the flickering of a candles flame in the evening. For years now I have been picking up both large and small ones...some in jars and others in interesting containers...and I also have a collection of holders for tea candles.

I love the holders. I don't really display a lot of items in my house though because I'm a minimalist. I don't really have much things on display and for the most part, it's because I don't always have the time to clean since I'm busy and I don't have a housekeeper. Thanks for sharing :-)

I love burning candles myself. When I first moved out (when I got married 13 yrs ago) we burned candles in our apartment everyday --we went through candles monthly....now with kids we dont burn them as often, but it has also been summer here too and our house gets really hot so I dont need to add to that. Now that fall is here and then winter I will be buring alot more... I love scented candles and I will choose ones that goes along with the seasons, like pumpkin scented candles when we get closer to Halloween, thanksgiving, and cinnamom and pine scented candles closer to christmas, and then mulberry and others after the holidays through summer. happy mylotting.

I burn candles all throughout the year. In summer here, it's normally really humid and the air becomes very thick. We open our windows so sometimes even the house is humid. I like to dehumidify then light scented candles so that the atmosphere is pleasant but yes, I especially love to light candles in the cold months. I don't have any kids with me so I can light them anytime. Thanks for sharing and happy mylotting.

Lighting candles in honor of the deceased isn't really a big tradition in my family, so we don't normally use our candles for that. Usually we just light candles for the fun of it, or when company's over and we want to have a relaxing atmosphere in which to have a friendly conversation. Or else we would use the candles when there is a blackout and we need to see in different places in the house when we're not using a flashlight. Because flashlights use up battery power and sometimes it's just easier to light a whole bunch of candles and put them on the table to give some light to the room. Otherwise though, we almost never use our candles anymore.

Hello rg0205. In our house, we seldom use candles unless there is no power at night. There were some days when I used some scented candles in my school apartment to make it smell sweet. I love the sweet smell. It makes me feel good though.

I light them whenever I feel the urge. I tend to use them a little more in the winter when it gets dark early than I do in the summertime. I think candles are a nice addition to your home the low light that they offer is flattering and they have some really pleasing scents that can add to the ambience of your home.
