Moving to a new state

My husband and I moved from Pennsylvania to New York back at the begining of August. Seriously - what a headache! I don't know how people do it that move often! Let me just tell you, I can't wait until we're moved BACK to PA and have all the switches once again finished. Today we went to the DMV and got our licenses and registration taken care of. That cost $400 for both of us! INSANE. The woman kept telling us that some of the stuff was a one time fee and that we'd never have to pay it in NY again, but what she doesn't understand is that we're only going to be in NY for 2 years, so the fees we paid seemed like a lot! There is just so much you have to do and switch over when you move to a new state. You also have to learn "their rules." Some new big ones in NY that we had to get use to was no talking/texting on a cell phone while you're driving. It's a good law, we just weren't use to it! Then of course the mandatory recycling. That took a while to get use to because we weren't even encouraged to recycle at our last apartment complex in PA. Oh the stress of moving. Have you ever moved to a new state? What was the biggest pain about getting settled into that state?

One thing I can say is that I havent moved out of the state of Michigan myself and I am happy for that because of all the pain it would be to deal with all that. We did move to AZ back when I was 7, but we were there for like 2 1/2 months or something like that and my mother never got a permenant address, our whole family was trying to move there and we kept staying with others...so it wasnt like we really moved but went on a long vacation!! My hubby would move in a heartbeat --but I hope we dont-- at least not yet, I am not ready for that!! sorry to hear all that you had to go through and for a short time too.. but I hope it all works out in the long run!! good luck!!

I have moved from one country to another country. to me the biggest pain about getting settled into the new country is to find a job. it's too difficult to find a job here. in one year i just got 4 times of interview opportunity and i just had one chance to work during the christmas period. Also i feel unsafe in the new place. because i'm a foreigner here and i had a few times when i was waking on the road, teenagers shouted at me from their cars.it's very annoying. i totally have no night life here. i feel scared, even my husband said it's safe here, but i still don't want go out in night, even with him together.
