Hi ressa! we meet again! I have a suggestion but you aint gonna like it... You are a student right. Compute your Must Expenses, this should only include your transportation and your meals in school. It would be nice to give yourself an allowance of P250.00, the rest of the money is for your mom's safekeeping. That way you can spend only on basic things. This will make your mom your treasurer as well.

Well, a lot of things are needed so I have to spend for those school stuff and all especially during on the spot activities. I don't give money to my mom, rather I put it in a bank or to my boyfriend. But sometimes I just need some emergency money to go home, or to buy the required materials right then and there.

Yes! And he has done a pretty good job doing it. I mean girls are usually those who discipline boys but it's the other way around! lol. So funny,

Hi resssaaa, A great way you could try is to start the savings and then give the money to a trusted friend or family member who will help you save. My mom is my banker, LOL and it really helps because she has the ability to save and is a very wise spender. This way you can take the money to that person and know that for sure you will never be able to spend the money, make that person promise you to not give it back to you until you reach a certain goal and even then, you could take that person with you so that way you can make sure you actually spend it on the phone and nothing else. Hope this helps, good luck.

Thanks! I have a bank and I try depositing money in it but I tend to withdraw some after. So what'll do I;ll just give the atm to my boyfriend and I'll ask him not to give it to me if I'll just use it for shopping.:)) Actually I give him the money before when I don't use a bank account but then I keep on asking it from him. that's why it didn't have any effect lol

LOL, I know what you mean. This is why it's important to only give the money to the person who you know will not give in to your asking and complaining. Instead of handing over your bank card or the whole pay check, why not just deposit a certain amount each week, this way you can have a little spending money to please the shopper in you :) and still have a little bit to put into your "special" account. This way you won't feel like you are being deprived. Good Luck.

wow i can try to help you , i am the oppisite i can save and save i am trying to help my husband and children with that as well , if you put the money in a place that you do not see very offten then you will not see it so you will not spend it it's like out of site out of mind thing , my advice would be start small split your money so you don't have to give up everything. put some in for saving and some for spending , like put your saving money in a jar or envalope and put a pic or a not saying what its for then every time you see it you will remember what you are saving it for.

Hi, it all depends on you how to save and how much to save for anything, If you want to save something first thing should be you must keep control on spending lavishly or on unnecessary things. You can keep your money which you want to save with someone, if you feel you will spend it if you have. So if you will not have anything you will be in control automatically and at one fine day you will not only able to get your new i-phone but many other stuff as well. All the best, I hope you will soon start a discussion starting that you have got your new i-phone.

...Hi resssaaa, this may help you, at least it will slow you down a bit, from having access to you saved money, go to a store which carries piggy banks that come with a key. The key is important, it must lock. Whenever you can, put in $5.00 or $10.00 bills. The trick to continuing to leave the money in the locked piggy bank is that you freeze the key in a plastic container that holds at least a pint of water. Put the piggy bank key in the bottom, fill the container with water and freeze it. If you get the urge to take the money out of the piggy bank, you will only get the key if you defrost the container. Hopefully the time it takes to defrost will make you change your mind and leave the key in the freezer. Another thought is to open a savings account in another state, and do not have an ATM card attached to the account. That way you won't be running down to the corner bank to withdraw your funds, you'll only be able to do it through the mail, which may deter you from withdrawing the money. Otherwise you might want to get hypnotized. Good luck.

I think being Hypnotized sounds good. lol! Kidding. The piggy bank with the frozen key sounds great. For me who really has the urge to spend from time to time, I think I really need a frozen key to be able to make me change my mind whenever I have to get some money. Thank you for your suggestion!

The best thing to do would really be to discipline yourself. You got to shift your focus on spending to shifting your focus to saving. Here is what you are going to do. Treat your saving as one of your spending hobby that is everytime you spend, spend first on your savings account. Feel good when you spend something to your savings account. Just simply treat saving as spending and you would have twisted your spending habits to your advantage.

The only thing I can really suggest is to leave the money at home! Don't take it with you when you go out. Don't order things online and don't go out as often. You have to discipline yourself. If you really wanted the iphone you would of had it already because you would have saved and saved and saved to get it. So maybe you should rethink what is truly important to you and think about what you truly want.

Gosh I really hate it when I think of the word shopping. It makes me go crazy! lol! At an instant I might like spend everything just when I am in the mall, I would just say, It's my money, and hey there are a lot of next times, maybe I'll start tomorrow! Then after splurging I would just sigh and say, What the hell have I done! lol.

hi resssaaa one way to save is to drop mostof your change into an old fahioned piggybank, one of those you wou ld have to break toget the money out, and keepon til its full and take it to your bank, wrapped in the appropriate wrappers for coins. you cannot depend on a piggy bank you could open easily, either that or make a trusted family member your banker, give her the money and dont let her give you anyback, keep this up til you have a goodly amount and let her deposit it for you so you wont be tempted to go out and spend all of it. lol lol

Ok I used to be just like you on this! For one thing I think these are all good ideas that people have suggested- however if you keep the money in a jar or even hide it in your house you will find excuses to take it and spend it. You need to open a bank account or even have someone, like your boyfriend- as you said earlier, hold it for you. Take out 10% of everything you earn and put it in the bank or give to your boyfriend. If you give it to your boyfriend you have to tell him to NOT let you have it for at least 3 months (or longer, depending on what you're saving for). That still gives you 90% to pay bills with and still enjoy a little bit of it now- this way you don't get frustrated and really feel like you're loosing a lot of money and still saving at the same time. I hope this helps! My husband actually taught me this concept and it has been great.

Well if you really like to save some money then first and foremost you have to learn to discipline yourself. Try to spend on things that you really need. Also, just bring a small amount of money every time you go out, enough to cover all your daily expenses such as food, fare and others. If you bring your money every time you go out the tendency is you would always spend that whenever you saw something that attracts you.

That is exactly me.lol! I don't know why I could get easily attracted to things, and be tempted to food that fast. I have another problem. I usually tend to spend a large amount even for the things I need the most! Like my transportation money. Since I live far from my school, It is abou 1 and a half to 2 hours away from home, I tend to egt hungry or thirsty, Then I need to spend a large amount for my fee. I try to leave the money at hime, but sometimes my money for 2 days when I spend it for one day I have no choice but to get the money I left at home to use for the next day or else I would not be able to go to school.

I had the same problem like you.But now i could save some money.I don't know why.Maybe because i am almost 30 years old now.You see, older people do know how to save money.Don't worry!Just buy what you want to buy.If you really want to save some money,go to buy a piggy bank. You should also put much much money in it.It will help you save some.

First of all, start saving money on everything you are already buying. Here is the lost they left with: Don't get tricked by Irregular pay periods - If one spouse is paid "every other weds" and one is paid on the 1st and the 15th, pick one schedule to go with. Be aware of Irregular Bills - Have an interest bearing account where you pay a "simulated monthly bill" that build up until the yearly payment comes out. Save for Property taxes monthly - In Oregon, yearly property taxes tend to sneak up on filks. Save for those taxes and everything orregular, in a regular way like you paycheck. Money in, money out, same every month, makes for a predictable.

The best way to save is to set aside a small amount. Like maybe 10% of your earnings will go to your savings. It would take quite a while to save up for the things you wanna buy but I guess this is the lesser evil than spending the whole bunch of earnings from the start. As for the remaining 90% of your earnings, you could splurge on anything you want and if there's lose change save it up to your savings. It's gonna be quite slow but at least your stepping forward to your goal. :) Hope i helped!
