Right, the same way as we BLAME the creation and management of the universe to some hypothetical 'God'.

Well, you kind of answered your own question with the second question...satan's work is any type of activity done by people who oppose what "certain religious types" beleive. I think it is just a way to make themselves feel righteous, and like they are avoiding the temptation of participating in anything their religion deems as "bad" or "sinful". Just attribute everything and anything that your religion say you can't do, to being the work of the major "bad guy" of that religion, so you have a reason to be against it and don't have toactually THINK about whether it is wrong or right. Put on the blinders and follow the rest of the lemmings over the cliff LoL.. *wishing i had eyes in the back of my head* drats.....can you see why i DON'T post in politics or religion topics? i am just waiting for people to come out of the woodowrk and attack me and my thoughts now.... but you know what they are MINE so I've been on both sides, i spent a decade as a tried and true bible beatin, southern baptist, church going, youth group leading, sunday school teaching southern baptist...and i have spent the last decade exploring other options. Other options won out...so here i am.

you saw how fast the lamb scarpered when he saw where he was. although so far the wolves have given this a miss - there's two agnostics, two christians up there but none of them tends to go in for abuse. tending to agree with you - it seems a bit of a cop-out to me. just way too simplisitic.

What is it they say?... Fear is a great motivator. Whether it be fear of going to hell or fear of being ostracized. It's a convenient way to try to convince people NOT to do certain things.
