Migrants to Europe

Last week I saw a program on television about the migrants trying to reach Europe. All of them were from Africa. The program talked to a man that had got over to Italy on a fishing net sort of ring. The people are trying to cross the desert into Libya. Some of them stay there. Others try to cross the sea to Italy or Greece. Some of them are trying to get more money in life and others are trying to escape political hardship. What do you think?

People will always try to escape from hunger or repression. There is an urge to find somewhere where they will feel safe. I think that it is a basic instinct. This is how the USA came to be formed from people from Europe etc. Freedom is a wonderful treasure to have and as you know - all countries in this our world are neither equal or free. God help them. And we must too!

Thanks for your wonderful response. Some countries in the world are better to live in than others. Somewhere with shocking poverty, a lack of food or political problems wouldn't be a great place to live.

I am so sorry to hear that things are challenging for many people in your home country at the moment. Your home country is popular with tourists. It is the sort of destination that I really like.

Hello again max, this is a massive problem for border patrol in Australia. Just in the last few weeks about six boats, with hundreds of people on board have been intercepted on the north west coast. Most coming, via Indonesia or Malaysia, from Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran. It's a world problem, and I can't see any resolution in the near future.

Hi max, the sea is very rough, and what really worries me is that we only hear about the ones that get caught, or make it. I feel sure that many don't as most of the crafts aren't sea worthy. In my opinion this has to be stopped at the other end, as many could be losing their lives.

Hi my friend Mipen. I once heard about a ship that arrived at Christmas Island. Mainland Australia wouldn't accept the people so they were sent elsewhere. The people arriving in Australia must be desperate. The sea over from Indonesia can get very rough and it is a long crossing. Max

Hello maximax. Different people have different aims for migrating from one country to another, some for making more money to support their life while some others for some political reasons or such. I live and work in China. I have never thought of migrating to another country, however good it might be. I still love my own country. It is much more convenient to stay and live in my own country, as there is neither language barrier nor there is culture barrier. I am very happy to stay in my own country, but I would like to choose to work in a place that is ideal to me. Take care, friend.

Hello my friend Williamjisir. I am so glad that you are perfectly happy living in your home country. You love your home country so that is excellent. I have to say bad things about my country are a very high population and at times poor weather. Take care my friend.

If we will base it on political aspects they have reasons why to migrate in different country where they will live peacefully. Not only in Europe. It so happened that Europe is green pasture today it makes the target of all who would like to have a better life in the future. Here in my country where i was raised most of the women are going to Europe for living. Even my sisters were there and their families.

I believe that these migrants are escaping poverty and political turmoil in their home country... Poor people. These is happening to some people around the world and some people doesn't mind because of their self interest.

Thanks for your superb response. I feel so sorry for the desperate people that try to cross the desert to get to Libya. Those that carry on to Europe often face a dangerous journey.
