DNA drama - do people actually like this stuff?

Being on a 5-month "hiatus" from school, I've been spending a lot of my early afternoons in front of the TV, unfortunately for me! I'm pretty sick of all the "DNA drama" on shows like Maury. (If you don't know what I mean - I'll try to explain: I mean the episodes where Maury & his people do a paternity test for a child to see who's the father of it - usually when the couple has doubts, or one has cheated on the other, or when the father won't take responsibility, etc). I mean, how interesting is it? I found it a little funny at first, but after seeing 3 episodes in 3 days, now it's just irritating and annoying. Can't people keep better track of who they're.. conceiving children with? (I suppose this would put shows like Maury out of business, though, wouldn't it?) I understand that sometimes a need arises to get a paternity test..But jeez! Do you find these shows to be obnoxious? Or do you find some kind of interest in them? How have shows like these managed to stay on air for so long?

Oh my goodness, no doubt!! I don't understand how someone can be so sexually involved with so many men during one small time frame, that they have to test 5 or 6 guys to find out whot the father is!!...These shows get so annoying, the people on them are always so dramatic and obnoxious! But as you said, these shows would probably go off the air if there weren't people out there wanting to air their dirty laundry for the world to see!!

Hi maezee. For the most part I find them irritating as well. Though sometimes I find them interesting. Like when an older child wants to find out who their father is. Those can be pretty touching, don't you think? However, the ones I don't care for are the women that say they're 110% sure the guy in question is the baby's father and they scream and holler at the guy saying all kinds of things. Then when Maury announces that the guy is NOT the father they (the women) run off the stage. To top it off Maury tests 4 (or more) guys and none of them are the father either. I'm sorry to say it, but those are just so annoying. I used to enjoy watching Maury. But the majority of the time he's doing paternity tests. I don't watch the show as much as I used to because of this. It's become too Jerry Springer for me. Now if they had more Jack Hanna or amazing stories caught on video, I'd be more inclined to watch. Happy mylotting!

I know exactly what you mean about these shows. And I do believe that these women are crazy. Why not be honest from the get go and say ok you're not the only person I slept with and I'm not sure you're the father and so, I would like to test all of you to find out who really is the father of my baby. If they are embarrassed then, why bring yourself on tv. I know I sure wouldn't and these women embarrass themmselves going on maury screaming and yelling stating that they know the man that they brought on tv is the father of their child, but then comes to find out that they're not the father. Whose embarrassed now. Also, these women put themselves in these predicaments when they slept with two men at the same time, and on top with that with no protection and now they're confused with whose their baby daddy. Well, if you would have slept with one guy at a time then you would know who the father of your baby is. Now on to the men who claim they are not the father of these womens babies. And they're going around calling them all kinds of names and whatever. Well, i'd have to say that so are they because they're doing the sleeping around as well. And then they are the ones that slept with them right and they didn't use protection. Well, that would be their fault. If they were not prepared to be fathers and were just looking for one night of pleasure, well then hello get some protection and use it wisely. What I would like to know though, whatever happen to protection. If people would use protection then they wouldn't find themselves in these situations as these and finding themselves on maury trying to find the father of their baby and find out that the person who is the father of their baby doesn't want to take care of their responsibilities. What else I would like to know what ever happened to getting to know someone before sleeping with them and whatever happened to at least using protection when you're sleeping with someone you hardly know. Because there are not just the chances of becoming pregnant but also, has anyone who have ever thought about the diseases as well.
