What do you know now that you wish you knew 10-20 years ago?

You know how you always say that wish you could have known back then what you know now? I am wondering from your experience what life lessons would you teach to your old self? I think I would have done better in school and gone to college earier but I also would have to live life a little more and not worry so much because I feel that I missed out on some things in life that I am now catching up on.

Hi slaveofsensation! I totally echo your sentimnts of telling yourself to not worry so much because you felt that you missed out on some things. When I look back to all the times I worried over things that just didn't matter in the grand scheme of things, I regret all the time lost. I would tell my younger self to have more confidence to not be so afraid to do things, to live life a little more. That's what I would do.

I totally agree with you on this!! When your young you make everything into a big thing.... you can't make every part of your life a whirlwind. No one will take you seriously - maybe that's why young people feel they have to work soo hard to prove themselves. It's a lesson sometimes learned to late. Yes, working towards confidence and boldness is so important in life!!

OOOPS! See whatcha done! All the silly regrets of my life have gotten out of their box and are running all over the place! I'll never find all the little buggers.. First and foremost, don't treat everything so bloody seriously! Second, always do your best for no one but yourself because no one knows how far you've come but you! Third, people are people. The good ones are the good ones, the 'tweeners are the 'tweeners, the bad ones are the bad ones for no other reason than that's what they chose to be! Fourth, give a schit because its the thing that needs to be done! ENJOY!

I wish I went in for nursing all those years ago and I would have been one now. Not struggling to get in where I fit in; I wish I would have had more self esteem and not worry about finding someone to love, and just find the right person to love. I wish I had a mom who was more patient than critical but that was in the darn cards. I wish I had a nest egg and listened to my father. I wish I learned to drive in my 20s as opposed to my 40s;

Even if I am a professional now and has gone to the US, from my original home country in the third world, I have regrets in my decisions. I would have done something that has made me both happy and successful. Whew!

yeah if you could have found something, back then that you feel would have made a difference in your life. started something, so you were in at the top instead of somewhere down the bottom of it all. i'm happy with most things, but am trying to change a few things.
