Hello MyLot members, I've been using Avast Professional edition(currently v4.8.1351) since three years now and i've never had any problem with it. I use to update my antivirus program daily and also perform periodic scans and boot scans. But recently, my antivirus program is detecting some malwares but is unabe to delete it or move to chest. It has become very annoying for me because it always pops up and puts a siren that a virus has been found, but it cannot remove it. So, i am thinking of changing it this time and get a new one. Can any please suggest which antivirus program is giving the best performance at present. My system config is 4GB RAM, Core2Duo Processor, 512GB HDD. Regards Chharugh

free antiviruses are not always bad. avg free version is good for home users. i dont think we have to install internet security or network security. but it is always better to backup ur precious data on dvd.s. but today everything is available on net. so dont worry about viruses;install avg and enjoy

Hey there! I'm also using Avast but not the professional edition. I'm just using the free, home edition. I've had that same problem when doing a normal scan. I was able to solve it by running a boot-time scan. If your problem still persists, I suggest you try Kaspersky. It's what we use in the office and it's really effective. We were hit by a virus a few months ago and Kaspersky did a really good job of blocking and deleting the virus.

Be ready for a flood of "Norton Sucks" and "Get AVG". You get better security for software you pay for. Plus better support. I use AVG for my trash desktop because it is free and gives "decent" protection. I use Norton 360 on my more beloved laptop and computers. People are going to tell you that Norton or Norton 360 sucks and is a resource hog. Their desktop is probably low on resources or something because Norton does not hog memory, at least not Norton 360. Also, if you browse through some "Virus" questions here. you will notice that there are AVG users here that complain that AVG Free will not get rid of the issue, but just notify them.

I am using Norton 360 for two years now and I am satisfied with it. Since you can install it up to 3 PCs, the price is not that expensive compare to the protection you can benefit from it. Sometimes we have to invest on something we value rather than risking it. As they say, 'there is no such thing as free lunch'.

I am using AVG free anti-virus. It's very good for me and my laptop. This anti-virus is suitable for slow hardware computer. So, I think your hardware is OK with AVG. Hope you can destroy your virus on your computer.
