do chickens fly?

back when i was still living in the philippines i saw two chickens flying like 30 feet from a tree to the ground. both flew about a 150 feet range. is that considered flying?

Chickens do not fly "per se", but they are very light for there size, and they do have wings. Some varieties of chickens can jump huge heights when motivated. I have New Hampshire chickens, one of the largest and heaviest types, and even they can jump over fences 1.5m high if they really wanted to. If you are having problems with your chickens jumping out a lot, you need to clip there wings, or attach a roof to the cage that you are holding them in.
