Do you wear finger ring? Do you give finger ring on engagements?

Do you wear finger ring? If so what type are you wearing now, whether plain gold, or studded with precious stones? Emerald suits me well, so I usually wear single emerald green studded ring. While going out I wear Navaratna studded ring, i.e. nine types of precious stones like diamond, emerald, ruby etc. which is considered to be taking out all the bad effects and afflictions from us and believe me, the work for which I am going, will be carried out successfully. In our custom, we do not give engagement ring, but now-a-days it has become fashion and I too gave to my son-in-law and daughter-in-law. Do you have that custom of giving ring at the time of engagement? Did you get it? Apart from finger ring, at the time of marriage Indian ladies have to wear toe ring in silver. Do you have this sort of custom in your place?

I wear a ring on my finger. I had an engagement ring and wore it on the same finger before I got married. My husband got us wedding rings when we got married. He has a ring finger and so do I now.

Hello Buchi-bulla. When I was young, I used to wear a finger ring for fun because it was a fashion back then. My mother gave my wife an engagement ring, a gold one. I did not have one because it was required for the husband to have one. It is decades that I have not worn a ring any longer though still some men wear it. I don't like to wear a ring now.

At the time of engagement or wedding, are you not given any ring? I mean is there not a custom at your place? Just as academic interest I am asking this. Please do not mistake me.

In my place it is a custom for the husband's side to give a ring to the wife, but not necessarily for the husband.

There are two types of rings that can be worn. One is hand palm's finger ring and the other is leg feet's finger ring which is also called toe ring, the picture of which is given in my discussion. In India, ladies wear toe ring on the day of marriage and it continues. But the hand finger ring is worn by everybody at any time and in any country. Am I clear to you?

Sachin2708, at present even Gold price is sky racketing. So I think hereafter girl's side people will think that why not diamond only when gold also is of the same cost. So bridegrooms will get diamond rings and diamond chains.

I feel like seeing your seven studded zircon ring and elephant ring. Toe ring collection is too good. We can change and wear now and then.

I like yellow sapphire a lot. I do not know whether any one can wear it. We too wear toe rings but 'mang me sindhoor' is not a must. I however, apply 'sindhoor' on my forehead.

Married women should mandatorily wear toe ring in our custom.I need to follow this because of my inlaws though I don't like to wear it daily. It would be good if it is worn on special occassions and with saree. But when I was carrying, my legs and toes were swollen and I was allowed to remove the toe rings till the birth of my child. How about you? Do you like to wear them daily?

Ever since my marriage, 33 years ago, I have not removed my toe ring. But the ring size varied, hence the moment it starts becoming tight, I change the ring. But my marriage toe ring with fish on it is still with me.
