What Mobile Browser Are You Using?

I know not everyone here uses mobile phone in browsing the internet, but I am sure there are some who still loves to surf using their phone. And there are just like me, who still uses mobile phone when they are away from their desk. I have this Nokia E61 who has a built-in browser, but it loads pages very slow. So I searched for some browsers, and compare them on how they work, especially their speed. I stick with Opera Mini Version 4 and I am already satisfied with it. But just today, I reinstalled my phones operating system. And of course, all the programs already there were also deleted, so I have to reinstall them back. I found out that Opera Mini has a new version, the 5.0 Beta. So I tried it. Wow, the pages load faster than before. And what I like more is the new "start page" where you can save at least 9 of your favorite pages. That means, you can open those pages in just one click, without retyping the address in its address bar. I know that the newest Opera browsers also have this feature. But I prefer Mozilla Firefox with my computer. Are you into mobile internet, mobile surfing? So what browser do you use with your mobile phone? I know you still love surfing the internet with your desktop or laptop, but you can still share your thoughts with your current internet browsers. Do you like the performance of your browser? Or do you still want to try other available browsers so you can compare it with your current browser?

I use the IE, which was pre-installed with the phone. It is slow and my phone is quite old. I don't surf on my mobile a lot as it will become expensive later on. Besides, I can hardly see the screen and typing in words are too tedious and time-consuming. I much rather surf on my laptop where it is more comfortable and faster.

if IE is the pre-installed browser with your phone, meaning, your phone is something with an operating system of Windows mobile? so what brand and model is your phone? if only i have a system at home, i will also use it over my phone. it is really much more comfortable and faster to post using a regular computer or laptop.

hi. thank you for coming back here to give me your phone model, i really appreciate it. by the way, don't you think your phone is kinda aged now? lol

I have actually to shut down my phone and look for the model number since I forgot how to do it by punching symbols in the phone. Let me see, it is a Nokia 6220 bought in 2003.

Hi Neil. I just got a new cell phone. I'm not sure what kind it is, though. My husband just bought himself a new phone because his old one was dying and I liked this new phone. So, he bought me one. It has a built-in browser as well. It is Opera also. There's only one problem. I can't get into my emails from it! It will bring up MSN.com and I can get to the sign-in page for my email account but will not open the emails. I even tried that with my other email account... same thing. I couldn't open it. I don't know what the problem is. I am most definitely not electronically gifted () so I'll have to wait for my husband to have time to try and figure it out. This is the first phone I've had with internet capabilities and I can't use it! I haven't tried to browse with it yet. I got so frustrated after not being able to log into my emails that I just gave up. I tried to get to my emails from my new phone because, at the time last night, my laptop was refusing to connect to the internet. I was having wifi problems. I think my laptop is dying and will soon join my desktop in computer heaven. Since I can't figure out how to make my cell phone's browser work, I surely hope I get some money soon so I can buy a new laptop! (Actually, I want one of those tiny netbooks with the 10" screens. Lighter and easier to move around than the one I have now.) If you could tell me why my cell phone's browser refuses to open up my emails, I'd be so grateful!

hi marti. i am so sorry that i don't think i can help you with your problem right now, with your phone browser. i wish i could. but i can't figure out what could be the cause. since i installed opera mini with my phone, i have done no re-configuration with the network settings or even with the browser settings. i can open any websites and i can read my emails. i have yahoo mail account. and i guess they work the same with hotmail or msn? one more thing, opera is not the same with opera mini. so maybe you can try, the mini version? how do you connect to the internet from your place? is it only wifi that is available in your area? or do you have cable or telephone line connected with internet? in our office, we connect through wifi. the computer that is connected to the modem, that is connected to the broadband/telephone line, is the one that has a wireless router, which serves the other computers internet connection. i can also use my phone using wifi when i am in the office. but when i get out of the office, i should find another wifi hotspot somewhere, but it's too difficult to find one in our home. that's why i should connect through my phone service provider. but that is more expensive than wifi. by this time, it's over a week now that i can hardly get a network connection so i cannot post a lot when i am at home. that made me go to bed earlier than before. when i still have credit cards, one thing that i wish to get was a desktop or a laptop. i just got banned, for two years now by the banks. i failed to pay them so i can't get a system now for use at home. i know how important it is for the kids when they have researches to do, with the internet. and of course, it will also help me with my mylot works. i wish i had get it earlier. would you think it's okay for your eyes, if you will get a smaller monitor notebook? again, sorry that i can't help you with you problem with your phone. if only i can have a hands-on with your phone, maybe i can find a way. and only if i can do something with your desktop and your laptop, i wish i can help you.

Thank you for that great laugh, neil! How horrible but funny that must have been when the phone went into the water! I have had things that seemed to jump right out of my hand and right into the toilet but never a cell phone. Of course, that may be because I never take my phone into the bathroom with me unless I'm expecting an important phone call. Then, I usually place it on the sink counter or edge of the bathtub if I'm taking a bath. I don't like having it anywhere near the toilet because I'm afraid of just that same thing happening to it. As for your signal, I think that the weather has a lot to do with our ability to connect or stay connected to our wifi. If the wind is blowing in the wrong direction or if there is a lot of rain, it seems to disappear. I've noticed that our cable TV channels have problems if there is a storm or bad weather between us and where the broadcast is coming from. Hey, you guys be careful over there, okay? I was watching the weather channel just before turning on my computer and saw that typhoon that just came through the northern Philippines plus there was another weather system building just east of there and heading your way. I've gone through enough hurricanes of my own and know what they can be like. I have experienced flooding with two hurricanes. I'll be worrying about you and your family if I don't hear from you in awhile. I saw the horrible flooding that took place with that typhoon and heard that there were many deaths associated with it. Do whatever you need to do to stay safe, okay?

i think safari is the most simple and best and a standard application for a mobile browser. but is it just me or almost all of them are still just a mini version of their computer brothers? can we see a browser that is built mainly for phones. but if your looking for a phone based browser look for skyfire it still has bugs but its good

I had been using opera mini and I really liked it but recently I came across this BOLT browser which I indeed find good. It also downloads fast and shows web pages nicely.

since i became a mobile internet fanatic, i use opera mini. from version 4 to 4.2 and now 5.0 beta. do you think BOLT performs better than opera mini?
• India
26 Sep 09
Yes, in terms of speed, it is better than opera mini. It displays the web page as it appears in the computer. But coming to the user experience, opera mini is a little bit comfortable. But you can give BOLT a try. It certainly is worth it. You can remove it if you do not like it.

My cellphone is Samsung I900. It has a browser but I installed a browser called UCweb and I found it is a good browser. It is convenient and faster. I haven't tried Opera for my cellphone yet. But I will try it later and see whether it's better. I love China

hi youless. are you using your cellphone alone to surf the internet? or do you still have computer? i never heard of UCweb, but i will try to check it when i got a chance. thanks for sharing. by the way, opera browser is different from opera mini, so be careful what you will install. check the capabilities of your phone before you install it. or maybe you can try both and see what will work better with your phone.

I am always using PC whenever I surf. I use Mozilla Firefox and it is better than IE. When on the road I surf using my laptop. I have not tried using my cellphone yet. I have not even find time to study and learn the procedures of using cellphone in surfing actually.

hi salonga. i know it's a lot different using computers compared to phones. with the monitor alone, it's too tiny and with people already have difficulties with their vision, it's a no-no. with computer internet browsers, i also prefer firefox compared to IE. since i tried firefox, i stick to it. even when microsoft tells me that there is available upgrade to IE, i just ignore it.

I'm not into mobile browser websurfing. Whenever I have tried on my cell phone it's always been extremely slow and dodgy. I rarely use it, only really when I'm alone on a public place and need to get some new cell phone game or whatever to pass my time quicker.

Hello, I also use Opera mobile browser. Opera mobile browser, the biggest advantage is its speed, Opera 9.7 can use compression technology to access the page you want to compress to a smaller size into the server, and then for you to browse one by one, and this relative to accelerate the overall browsing process.
