Manila is suffering from great storm since few days ago. And since last night, strong winds and heavy rains is affecting people in the capital city. Since last night, rains keeps falling. And by this time, most parts of the metroplis is covered by flood waters. I know that somebody has still internet connection and power supply as I can see her posting new discussions. But I can't see other mylot members, my friends from Manila. I wonder if they are still fine at their place, and I hope they are still safe. So sorry for those affected by the storm, heavy rains since last night, and floods.

Hi neil! I've seen in the news too, or at least the internet news since we don't have TV :) Anyway, even here in Cebu, the winds are really strong, and the weather is so weird. Sometimes it would rain hard, then it would stop. Then the strong winds would come. I could only imagine how it is in Manila. Also, my internet is on but it stops every now and then...

it's actually from tv news report that i heard about the disaster brought by the storm in the metro manila area and the neighboring provinces. we are just fortunate here, in our city that we are not much affected, only the winds and not so heavy rains. but our internet connection is rather affected. i only use this phone using the phone service provider's internet, not dsl, and it also goes on and off, no continued connection, so i have to reconnect everytime.

Yeah, fortunate indeed. I hope they are already fine out there, now that I notice less rains and winds in Cebu. I'm surprised to hear that your connection is disrupted. So far, my internet is really doing fine, except for very ocassional disconnections :)

Yeah, that one neil :( Somehow I'm quite thankful that we don't have TV so that I won't be able to see all those people suffering. Seeing them really breaks my heart to pieces.

Hi Neil, why is this in the uninterested in interest, there are many of us interested in what happens elsewhere but these things go unreported by our media these days as something far more interesting to them may be happening such as a celebrity broke a finger nail. Constant flooding is a pain but not so often seen inside a large city, is this due to lack of proper drainage construction as it usually is in the west. Quick buildings without foresight. At least you aren't reporting any danger. These things can build up so quickly though. Hope eveyone manages to get reconnected soon and not experience too much disruption.

i know and i am expecting someone will ask why i put this under not interested interest. just like what i have mentioned when i created this interest, there are interesting ones like this but you hate it or you don't want it or you're bored, irritated, all negatives thoughts or feelings, i want to share it from here. it's what the storm that brought us that is negative here. so sorry if this one's misplaced. actually, the weather bureau reported that the rains brought by the tropical storm is really too much. they never expected that. they said that in 6 hours, the waters brought in was usually a month of continues rain. i really hope everyone is safe, but as reported, so many families are now evacuated to higher grounds. more and more people seek help from the government so they can be rescued from their roofs.

along C5 road heading Makati area - vehicles along C5 road being stucked due to floods about 200 meters away from this site.
Hello neil,Actually this storm is keeping me here on mylot, like giving me strength not to worry and that everything will be fine. Posting new discussions and making mylotters and friends keep updated with what is happening here makes me feel ok. Right now,it is already 7pm...the traffic is not moving as it is this afternon since i started posting discussions. Some vehicles were being stucked now, with engine not starting and some even leave their cars now,for desperately wanting to go home by foot. See my attached pictures,i took this late afternoon, and it is still the same till this time.you can see the road postlight's on. can u see the end of this line?

so far manila mylotters were responding here too,and saying they are fine. One manila mylotter even says there is no flood in their area, maybe she lives somewhere along Paranaque a place i know not affected so much with floods. And i am happy to know they are fine. I am worried about one mylotters,AEROUS becoz, his connection suddenly off,i am not sure if it is his connection or power supply that makes him disconnected. Becoz the last message he said while we are chatting is,the flood in their area is about to reach a roof. I just hope he is doing fine,i don't have any communication with him other than internet.

hi buddy. nice to hear that you are doing fine and safe. it's actually you, i mean one that i get worried, as i never saw you in post one this day. yes, it really feels so sad that this thing is happening in most places there. we can see in the news how people walks along the floods to get to safer place, people on their roofs waiting for rescue, etc.

they (government) should at least start building tunnels than putting more drainage system and probably lack of discipline when it comes to throwing their trash properly.

that's one thing the government failed to build. i see in movies how big are the tunnels of other countries. and if we have those giant drainage facilities, our flood problem could be totally solved. btw, where particularly in Cavite do you live? i have friends in bacoor and i know they have big problem with floods too.

Rain - Is so unpredictable ,but not so colorful or fun.
Oh boy,When its raining like this it shows no mercy,I hope it does not get to bad. As for here in the US,they are calling for rain today also, with heavy winds But we normally don't loose the digital, but everything else goes so it does me little good in knowing this.

Hi best. So sorry I wasn't able to reply back on messenger yesterday. My connection was cut and got it back just this evening. My kids had a school activity yesterday for their scouting and guess what, I went out and walked through waist-deep flood to fetch them. Can you imagine that? I'm very thankful that the flood didn't go inside our house but I pity my neighbors who have to evacuate to a high place. There is one family here that I offer my living room for them to stay until the water subsides. Glad the rains stopped but if not, whew, we'll never know what will come next. Don't worry best, my kids and I are okay. I wasn't able to send SMS for our mobile has no signal. HUGZ always...

I thank God we are fine and hope you too! Yes great flood and great destruction really hit the whole NCR and nearby places. It was a terrible day of calamity which really made me bow down on my knees to pray not just for myself but for my relatives and friends! So far we've been very safe but I pity the many people who are still at the rooftop or those whose houses are still under flood and those people who are already starving and have not received any help. I pity those in the evacuation area who are far from the comfort of their own homes. I pity those whose loved ones were either drowned or missing without any hint where they've gone. Oh my friend, what is this happening? I think it is about time for the people to turn to God. God surely is reminding us that there is one God who could at anyone kill all the people who have gone too far and unmindful of His power and majesty! We cannot deny that the whole world is sick as people are living as if there is no God so calamities like this is just a reminder to all of us to start renewing our way of living. Anyway to those who will humble down and start seeking God there is always mercy awaiting them. God is a merciful God and his mercy endures forever. The following verses are lifted from the Bible. Allow me my friend to quote this. My heart is just overwhelming with the spirit of bereavement over those who have been destructed by the flood and I would want them to seek God and start a new life so that they could avail of God's enduring mercy: "If My people, who are called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 "Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him and to our God, for He will freely pardon." Isaiah 55:7 "Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret." 2 Corinthians 7:10 "Return to Me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning." Joel 2:12 Have a blessed day

Hi Neildc, I just read the news happened in Philipine about this tropical storms. It sound scary. So many people were evacuated to the safer places.A dozen of flights in and out of the central and northen philipines were cancelled. It is also reported that the rains have caused the water in two dams near manila to rise to spilling level. I really hope all the Philipine MyLotters are safe and not affected by this storm disaster. God bless you !!! Takecare !!

Yeah I lost several days of not being able to go online because of that. Even today I still have no internet connection at home since typhoon Ondoy hit us. It seems the cabinet of our phone line got submerge in the floods that is why until now they haven't restored it yet. I just hope they could do it soon as the sun has risen already and there is no flood in our area already.

manila is the capital city of the philippines. it is located in the biggest island of luzon. actually, it's not manila alone that is affected by heavy rains and flood waters, but also the neighboring provinces. i also have a lot of relatives over there so i am so worried about them too. i hope they are all safe. maybe manila mylotters could give us more updates about how they are doing there, if they have internet, so we don't feel so worried.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention Neil saly I have not heard reports on the news here as the media find other more 'spicy' things much more worthwhile reporting I hope that these storms will not cause loss of life as so often happens when nature apears angered and takes it out on us. Hopefully we will see our friends from that area posting again soon and informing that all is well!

regularly program on tv has been stopped from time to time, to give way for news update regarding the situation in the metro. we're just a bit luckier than them as we are not so affected here. although internet connection over here is going on and off, maybe caused by the strong winds. but i know how life is when storm hits that place, as i also been there for a long time, since birth. this place i am now is much safer and storm doesn't come as much as it comes in the capital. I just hope they are safe. maybe they can aslo update us of how they are doing now, if they have net connection, to lessen our worries.
26 Sep 09
Don't worry, they will be fine. I remember my very first typhoon in Manila at the U.P. Diliman campus. Having come from a place where there are no typhoons, I was so shocked to see a whole big tree completely uprooted in front of my dormitory because of the strong winds and downpour. That was an unforgettable sight to me. Since then, I am not surprised anymore at all these natural occurrences, even earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. They are scary and inconvenient but you get used to them.

i know how it feels when there is storm. and i experienced a lot of times having our house flood when i was still living in luzon. I came from bulacan, studied in taguig and worked in manila. so i know that in times like this, it brings a lot of mess and sometimes, caused lives.
