Genetically Engineered Foods...are they safe & healthy?

Genetically engineered foods containing genes derived from bacteria and viruses are now starting to appear in the shops, and foods with insect, fish, and animal genes will soon follow. These genetic changes are radically different from those resulting from traditional methods of breeding. Yet, the sale of these foods is being permitted without proper assessment of the risks and without adequately informing the public, even though many scientists say that genetically modified foods could cause serious damage to health and the environment. WHAT IS GENETIC ENGINEERING? Genes are the blueprints for every part of an organism. Genetic engineering is the process of articficially modifying these blueprints. By cutting and splicing DNA-genetic surgury-genetic engineers can transfer genes specific to one type of organism into any other organism on earth. WHY DO IT? Scientists want to transfer desirable qualities from one organism to another, for example, to make a crop resistant to an herbicide or to enhance food value. http://www.netlink.de/gen/fagan.html I have had two discussions deleted deleted to day and am attempting another discussion on the topic hoping it will be allowed to stand. I posted from a website and included the link...what more needs to be done, I am not sure. Here goes. I have done some reading on genetic engineering but am by no means an expert. I am leary of the whole industry as I DO KNOW what the human body needs and what it's limitations are. I also feel that we are being duped...lied to if you will about the safety of these products. If this makes it a conspiracy, I guess it is. There is more than one sector involved in lying to us about this...I've heard that is what a conspiracy is. YOu decide for yourself...let me know what you feel.

I don't trust genetically engineered food. It's not natural and I don't believe it's safe. They've not been really tested to see what happens when humans eat them. I think they (Monsanto, mostly) are keeping information from the public because - as usual - they can make money from it. Laboratory tests have shown kidney and liver damage and mortality rate of lab animals was 50%. Maybe "they" want to limit population? For whatever reason, it's not for our benefit.

Gee...I thought that I was the only conspiracy nutcase on myLot. lol Just kidding....I'm having a hard time with being called a nutcase and can't seem to let it go today. lol I've read a lot about Monsanto lately. Lots of smart people high up are speaking out about depopulation plans on the elite powers behind the powers. The vaccine for swine flu is believed to be a bioweapon...by a Joseph Moshe bioligist and virologist. Truthfully, 'they've' made it impossible to speak of these things as real possibilities with their disinformation and propaganda, without being taken for a nutcase. Nonetheless....I plod on.

I agree. There are so many true nutcases with all sorts of hokey "conspiracy" theories, that it makes it hard to discuss any real possibilities logically. Most people just lump it all together. I'll plod along with you.

How could anything that they make that way be good for us, all they are thinking about is Money, Money, and more Money, and they do not care about anyone's health. What is really bad is that most people do not even know that they are doing this to us.

It is about money....and they don't care. And I'm telling people because you 100% right...most people don't realize it.

I might add that when you try to tell some people they just seem to turn a deaf ear. What possible reason would the government have for trying to regulate vitamins? Or get the paws in on supplements? OUR SAFETY? lol There is way to much research showing the safety of such products and their superiority over allopathic medicine as a way to prevent degenerative disease. They just ignore the proof and send out the propaganda. And in the meantime...get rich selling pharmacueticals that hinder health and healing.
