At age 10 I had my tonsils removed. They still used ether as an anesthesia. I remember what seemed like 20 people holding me down while they placed this stinky mask of ether over my face and made me inhale. I screamed for my mother. My mother cried in the background. The doctor droned "Breathe, deeply. That's right, breathe, deeply." I continued to scream and struggle. When I awoke, my throat was sore and my body was sore from the struggle. How do I feel about hospitals? I hate them. I never forgot that experience. I have carried that memory in my head with me into my adult years. I am in my 60s and the memory is as fresh as if it happened this morning. No child should have to live that nightmare. To this day I am distrustful of doctors and hospitals. I challenge them all. They have to practically stand on their heads to win my confidence and respect.

Looks like you had a very bad memory of the hospital from your experience.. Atleast you got this off your chest.. Better late then never I guess.. ^^ And wow.. I hope my memory is good as yours when I'm over 60.. Now I'm getting worried because I don't even remember what I did 5 minutes ago.. haha

Don't ask me what I had for breakfast. The short term memory goes first. For some reason, the long term memory hangs in there. Someone said "If I had known I was going to live so long, I would have taken better care of myself." Well, take it from me, take good care of yourself. Everyone gets health conscious as they get older. May as well start now.

When I was a child I only went to hospital once. My mother says that I had been playing near a ladder and it fell down on one of arms. My parents took me to the hospital, because they wanted to get an x-ray to make sure that I was okay. I didn't stay at hospital for that long, and I don't remember it at all. I only know the story from my mother. When I was an adult I went to hospital when I had mononucleosis. My own doctor didn't know what was wrong with me so he wanted to me to go to hospital to have some tests done. This time I didn't stay there for a long time either, and I was very happy when I was able to go home and rest in my own bed instead.
