How is your life at mylot ?

Hi Lotters, I have been here at mylot since Feb. 3, 2009. During this relatively short period saw many people, made friends with many but in my lonesome moment I reflect upon my gains and losses. The result would perhaps be equal or to be candid enough I gained more than what I lost. The loss is however in the form of weight gain lol. Looking back and saddening myself over split milk is not my disposition. Out of 475 odd friends on my list I feel my life is still a void. 90% of them are in hibernation. Sometime feel like deleting all those inactive ones but after thought tells me not to do so. This is not beyond possibility that knowing this they would feel hurt as I feel myself if somebody deletes me and I do not wish to hurt any one knowingly. With a few lotters I have a good rapport who are not only very active but also co operative and being in their touch have learned a lot of things directly or indirectly and this is my privilege I feel. Especially I am now more tolerant than before but please do not take this as my weakness for I never hanker after popular image. Bragging unnecessarily I seldom do and if true compliment is looked upon as bragging I am helpless. Finally one tendency of the members here annoys me much that there is hardly any serious discussion and most are after hit and run mentality. This platform though being a discussion forum we have to discuss and try to resolve things amicably with healthy debate which could ofcourse sometime go to the extent of confrontation. And debate is natural. I could post this under ‘mylot’ category but as it contains more of life element, I opted for ‘Life rather. I am here and would be there for I love life and there is life HERE. Love Rajib. 29.09.09

I've joined mylot long time ago, been absent for years and now back again. People are still expressing the same sentiments and I agree with you we can find a life here and it's really fun except for those people who looks not serious enough. Whatever happens and what feelings we may have, mylot is a virtual world. It's nice to interact with people and cyber friends. And like anything in the virtual world, nothing is what it seems. We may find friends who are real mccoys but at the end of the day, they are in the cyber world. Unless of course, one day we meet them personally and interact even more meaningfully. Meanwhile, don't lose your weight too much. Cheers.

Hi monong, You are welcome back. I am basically annoyed as to why people avoid serious and important issues in the form of discussion. Or else this is a great place to earn as well as learn.

I would say that I have a very healthy existence on My Lot! When I first started on My Lot I would spend all the hours under the sun but I have given up on the idea now. There are other things in life besides My Lot. However, I do like to make sure that I log into my account on a regular basis. I normally spend a couple of hours at night on My Lot and then I retire for the night. I have certainly learnt a few things whilst being on My Lot! This is like a whole new learning experience and it's nice to talk about different cultures I mean there are people here from all over the world and this can only be a good thing. When I am not My Lotting then I love to read and keep fit. I'm also studying IT and so this takes up some of my time as well. My Lot is the best place to be whilst online! Andrew

Hi Andrew, The same thing had happened to me too. I was kinda so obsessed with mylot that I would sit infront of my PC around 10 hours a day. After two or three months of that madness came fatigue and I remained quite less active for about a month. And now I am following the middle path. Whenever I feel more attached I am there and if felt I had some more important works to attend, I would postpone mylot. But the truth is that there is no such site that keeps you so absorbed and I would be there as long as I can drag myself. Money is not a matter. One surely can not earn too much money only through discussion. But these discussions are the essence of mylot.

Hi,Rajib.I'm not satisfied with my life on Mylot. My biggest problem is the lack of inspiration.I suffer when I'm not able to create and this crisis lasts too long for me.It seems that I feel better responding than creating discussions, and I can't forgive myself this laziness, this apathy of spirit.I don't care anymore if serious discussions get responses or not, I'm glad someone still has willingness to start them.

Hi my friend just pass to me what eats you up? There should not be any problem as long as you are in mylot. No problem tat you find it difficult to create discussion on your own. Just go on responding and take part in the debate. That would I suppose lessen your problem.

Hi Krajib, well I find that my attempts at serious discussions do tend to bomb rather with only a couple of responses, and do not in any way resemble discussions, just a couple of comments. I recently tried to revive one such discussion about my great hero Simon Wiesenthal which was to me the most important subject matter I have posted. I didn't expect much response but like minded people to debate with. It just doesn't happen, whereas the frivolous ones have responses. I have tried with the serious several times and have been more disappointed with them falling out of sight than any others. I think having a massive friends list is not the way to go ahead as you can't know so many, personally I prefer to have a manageable list where I can remember the less active ones by at least something about them. Some like yourself I rarely have contact with, whilst with others I have a great deal of rapport, and we mostly follow each others discussions because the friendships in the first place were formed due to mutual interests. Obviously we can't share all interests but a few common interests at least is necessary. I add friends now when I like what someone has to say. I don't see the point though in collecting inactive friends or ones who have totally different interests.

there again, when we exchange our culture and creed and other social issues they are more beneficial for getting them from first hand is ever trustworthy than getting from other sources. But unfortunately when you post such topic there would be too less responses and that is a gone case like. Yeah we need light hearted discussion too but not too often and too explicit. it should be something like what Marti had posted last night. And with those two new interest people would get chances to yell and rant and finally resorting to foul mouthing.

Well with your last point I disagree as I have no compuction about going in and stating on pe that the area is meant for satire and seriousness will not be addressed, we have the perfect right to make fun of politicians and their type as is a great UK tradition, without having to justify our opinions. So far it has worked most well. Naturally we get a better idea of a country and its ways through personal accounts rather than the news. That is why I love to indulge in autobiographical accounts of people who live through events which are hidden generally from the outside world and are not the government line on such things. I have read many fascinating books about Iranian and Saudian culture from the viewpoint of someone who has been able to speak out about events hidden from Western eyes, along with accounts from China after the cultural revolution and many other areas. The Holocaust will remain to me the most significant historical event and there are many autobigrahical accounts to go alongside the history books. My knowledge of India was indeed lacking but I know so much more now than sterotypical images by learning many things from my friend Malpoa, who resides in Calucutta.

Well there are friends for some lighthearted topics but there are some which are eminently serious and I enjoy very much conversing with them. However I never enter politics or religion as don't like the ranting. You may not be aware of the creation of two new interests on here which are pe, which is meant to be satirical, and left sided politics, which takes the rant out of the political interest section. Also many of my discussions diverse into serious parts which certain responders so it is possibe to do two things at once. I set up Greek life style to share things about here but also to compare with other cultures, which I always find interesting. But having the right group of friends is essential here and I regularly check the list and am happy to say that the notifiers are off on only two people on my list, who do have a habit of churning out ten discussions at once, which then blocks my email. So serious discussions can often emerge in the middle of frivolous ones.

We are here to share whatever discussion we have, make friends, share our opinion or experience to others who opened any discussion. We are not forced to answer or participate any discussion so whoever participated in your opened discussion should be received with thanks even though it is not acceptable in your part. So let us enjoy each other discussion and give more life to it.

Hi Olepmis, This is what I am talking about - giving life to our discussion. You will observe as you would grow older here that let alone debating or discussing the post people even do not bother to comment back. Otherwise this is a great place to project yourself and gain knowledge and share ideas.

Personally I think we all can relate with things like this in being active here in myLot. I have been a member now for almost 3 yrs. and have seen a lot of people come and go. I am constantly updating my friends list, but still gladly posting here as I can. Maybe it is time to seek new friends? Not everyone you want as a Friend here will respond back to you and stay here, but I have found some Great ones and hope you can as well. Wishing you the Best.

Hi Tina, Well, people come and go. And your three years' stay is long enough to calculate the way of life in here. What I feel is that I too need to update my friend's list and all are not there who sent friend's request. What do you feel about the discussion content? Was it just like this when you had joined or it has lost its quality for people hardly respond to any serious kind of discussion?

I get frustrated, too, at the lack of quality discussions. Someone will ask a favorite flavor of food and get 100 responses and yet a serious discussion will only get a couple of contributions. In such a big place, you would think there would be so many discussions that are interesting that we'd never run out but the short and silly ones seem to be the majority. I like being silly sometimes, but I also love to think. I like a lot of my friends here in myLot, I'd have them over for dinner if they were in the area. Others merely use me and send me spam messages with get-rich-quick schemes or referral links--I delete them.

Hi there, I cry over this. why people are not interested in serious discussion? Are they afraid of their origin getting out or just do not want to keep much pressure on the already heavy head. Whatsoever the case once in a while we, as we think we are capable of handling issues get upset seeing the silly discussion topic. Hope people would realize this and participate in the serious one too.

Hello my friend Rajib Ji, For me, I was brought and introduced by my hubby and since then i am here. I have not lost anything, I have gained only in terms of International knowledge, for which I would have spend lot to go each place and know about their culture etc. I take it as 'Earning while learning'. I have never refused for any friendship, I have never deleted anyone so far. But, I would request mylot in case some friends are deleted , myLot may inform openly so taht other friend do not wait for particular response. I invite every one to join me to tahnk myLot for this. May god bless You and have a great time.

I have gained a lot ,well to start off with i did not have a good command over the English language but with mylot my vocabulary has improved and i have become more expressive. I know it is fun to come here and share some light moments.Well earnings are an added advantage which motivate us to do better.

Hi krajibg, one thing is for sure, I am not the one that goes on hibernation. :) Though I have not gained much weight since I joined mylot, it has not lost either. I blame television for my weight gains. Mylot has merely given my hands some occupation other than eating. Please dont delete me. I will come off and on to ur discussions, if the topic interests me, and of course, if there are no power outages. :) I too feel I have become a much more calmer person, patient enough to listen to another person's point of view. Earlier, I might not have bothered to listen to others opinions. But after coming to mylot, I realized that others can also have a valid point to make, and that may be they may not have made a valid point under this discussion, but they may have made a valid point elsewhere. So, lteting others have a say is a wise thing after all. :) Yeah - there are plenty of light hearted discussions. But the concerns differ in different age groups, dont u think? I am ok with that. I've had a 19 year old ask me, how do u earn at mylot, and it felt good to tell him, even though I've been around only for two months. :)

Hey vanadana, That is the JADU ( magic) of mylot. I am senior to you here and that does not denote that you are inferior to me. You have your own field to roam and plant ideas as you wish. I feel I have developed a lot in the field if usage of the English Language though I am a teacher of English in College and university. We learn new things every day right? And I know you have not gone for hibernation. And that is an indication that you would leave your foot print here.

If I have to compare, I think this is how the children in Slumdog Millionaire must have felt when they attended Academy Awards function. Awesome.:)

Hi litleMel, This is why you are not seen so often these days here. Of course one has to have time for personal jobs and other things as well. Mylot alone can not be one's sole occupation. As family men we have our material as well as other obligations too. Even I say that my honeymoon period at mylot is over and now spending post honeymoon era. Hence i too disappear sometime for a couple of days and when feel quite spirited I sit for some hour.

Hi raj, Mylot is a wonderful place to interact. I like it here and that may explain why my tenancy here is automatically renewed every year. There can be no other reasons why I have stayed here for more than 3 years and never call it quits. During my tenure here I have made a sizable number of friends that has actually entertained me with all their funny responses, learned to accept human flaws and keep my sanity intact. It is understandable that not all in my friends list come to support my discussions as they might not relate well to the subjects posted. I am thankful to have drawn many newbies to come to my discussions and they have proven that they are good if not better in terms of speedy response with their valuable views. Posting discussions have to be weighed carefully here as the admin have been actively weeding out discussions that doesn't merit mylot standard. It is good to see that quality discussions prevail in mylot and less of those classroom topics which are not thought provoking and does not challenge the thinking mind. It is good to get involved in active debates so we might learn the pros and cons of any topics that are put up for all to join in to share their views. We gain more knowledge by sharing from people of all walks of life. With everyone active participation in mylotting, it generates more life and in the process creates more friendships, which is the real reason why we are here for.

Hi zands, something sweet and something sour - is the essence of life. Mylot is undoubtedly a great site to exchange ideas but what screws me is that people fight shy of any serious discussion and there is hardly any discussion. I posted a topic and you responded and and it is all over. You forget what you had said and I forget who had responded. Is this discussion at all? There should be contradictory views and they be settled in such a way that we get some benefit out of it. Seeing this practice of most of mylotters I feel they are here merely for money. I am not accusing you and a few others who are sincere and committed in whatsoever they undertake. I still enjoy being a part of this family. But I am seriously thinking now of deleting the non active friends from my friends' list.

I love it here too Rajjib and I appreciate your comments about discussion topics. I have tried in the past to go for the ‘deeper’more serious topics although I never go for politics or religion and have not received a great deal of feedback whereas when I have questioned people about their favourite drink or what they like wearing to bed I got to hear from so many and that is what I like, a lot of MyLotters to talk to so I have left those serious topics for a while but that is not to say that I won’t post something like that again in the future of course.

Hi Paula, Why after all people are so allergic to serious discussions? Life is not jokes every time and we face adversity and odds too. Are not those important things to ponder over? People tend to have time pass mentality here at mylot that just post a light discussion like 'how do you sleep?' or 'how do you ****'? and all. if i look at my discussion that are relatively serious have very few response but when i had posted the 'no 13' post I received 139 responses.
