I sell old vinyl records on ebay and get a wide range of opinion on the quality of old records (from 78's on...) versus newer technologies. Hey, what do you think of vinyl compared to CD's, 8 tracks, etc.?

I was born into the generation of CDs, but my father has quite the collection of vinyl, and I don't know so much if the quality is better or not, but I do enjoy it for the purposes of nostaliga. Not to mention, he has many bands' albums on these records that you can't get on CD. Plus, this is the music in its original form. And what isn't great about putting on a vinyl record and enjoying a piece of history? Personally I give vinyl two thumbs up.

I love listening to vinyl records. I have a fairly impressive record collection. I find that the difference between listening to records versus CDs is like the difference between reading a book versus an online magazine. You have to physically engage with the record more than with a CD. And records have a distinct smell, like books do. Records have character. I enjoy CDs, too. And CDs are more convenient, especially if you're going on a road trip. But I will always prefer records.
