Do you know the story of Balaam and his donkey? Balaam asks God weather he can go to king of Moab or not.GOD says no, inspite of saying no again he asks weather he can go or not God says yes.But Balaam is in trouble God sends an angel to strike Balaam as he did not obey his first order.Read the story below. Once a mountain climber was caught in an avalanche and the ice caps on the mountain came crashing and sliding down and this mountaineer was also caught in it and being dragged downwards. To make the things worse it was at late at night. So, almost nothing was visible except for his short torch light. Suddenly as he was being carried down he suddenly felt a rope and caught it.By now he was hanging just by the rope at the end of something which he didn't know where he was hanging. The temperature was freezing cold and killing. He cried out to God,” Lord why you put me in such a situation, save me". God replied,” Yes, Leave your rope" The man replied,” Lord I know you have a plan but I am sorry I cant do that, cos already after great difficulty i have got this chance to survive and you are asking me to leave this. Do you want me to fall down and die? Please tell me something else" God replied,” Yes leave your rope" The man was by now exhausted and said,” Lord I am sorry I don't want to take your suggestion" The whole night passed and the next another team of mountaineers came and saw a scene- A man hanging just three feet above the ground frozen to death. Our lord can lead us in unthinkable ways just we have to listen to what he speaks to us. When God says YES, don’t say NO. So what do you say if once God says yes that's final we have to obey him.

I agree that it is a sad way to die, especially when you didnt need to.. But I feel that, if God could say 'Yes,Leave your rope' twice, he could have also said 'Leave your rope as you are only 3 feet from the ground'.. It wouldnt have hurt God for saying a few extra words.. Why play with a person's scared state of mind to prove a point that only blind faith can save a person?

Great story, great lesson, but not very easy to follow. I'm not denying how great the rewards are, but practically, it's not easy. Sometimes I wish things that would happen in my life were already written down (so I could read them)- like the Bible - you can go ahead to the end of the story, find out what happens, and then decide it's ok to obey.Fanciful? Maybe. It's just an attempt to express the frustrations that are felt by Christians who want to obey God but are bogged down by so many factors - fear, unbelief, confusion, temptation etc. But, yes, obedience - unquestioned obedience -is very important to God. May HE help us obey HIM with the kind of obedience that pleases Him. I pray that HE will also help us as we try to trust Him more.

That's a very good illustration of how little we trust God. Obedience is all wrapped up in trust. We cannot obey someone we don't trust, but if we trust God completely, we will do whatever He says.

Obedience is of the essence in our relationship with God. The ten commandments calls for strict adherence and only obedience can make that happen. That makes obedience a primary virtue. And when we find it difficult to obey, humility comes in handy. Must remember we are mere mortals. We must heed to God.
