Does anyone have any good recipes for sweet potato? I happen to have a whole bunch of sweet potatoes but I'm not sure what to do with them other than bake in the oven... which gets boring after a while! Any ideas please? Thanks in advance!

I like to boil my sweet potatoes and then once done I sprinkle cinnamon on them. They are delicious. Another thing you can do is slice them and cook in molasses with cinnamom. Hmmm yummy

It sounds delicious but we are staying away from grease and deep frying due to watching our health. Heart disease and diabetes runs in my family and we don't want to end up down that road. How tempting though it sound yummy! Thanks anyway.

Try the sweet potato chips. Cut it into thin slices then deep fry it. Then just make a dip, mayonnaise and catchup and a dash of salt. Or try with your favorite dips. Another recipe - you'll need a lumpia wrapper(the one used for spring rolls) for this. Just boil the sweet potatoes then mash it. Add sugar and/or butter to mashed potatoes (and you can also add cinnamon :). Then roll the mixture into the wrapper. Then deep fry it. Or you can try this, brown sugar does the trick :) Cut the sweet potatoes into 1/2inch thick. Deep fry it. When it's almost cooked, in medium heat, pour in the brown sugar, stirring constantly until sugar melts and eventually coats those sweet potatoes. Enjoy :)

I've heard of people making french fries from them, but have never tried it. My son loves them boiled, then mashed with butter and brown sugar. After they're cooked, you can use them like you would pumpkin in pies.

Sweet potato fries are delicious! We have a local restaurant that serves them. Once I found them in a store in the frozen foods, but you could make your own. I guess I like pretty much anything you could make out of sweet potatoes. Best wishes!

Do you fry them for the same amount of time as normal fires the thought of it sound very delicious.

I have a hard time peeling sweet potatoes so I just bake them in their skins then scoop them out mash them with butter, salt and pepper. We also like them as french fries. You can add apples and raisins too.

We slice and fry the sweet potatoes and coat them with sugar. Its a good snack. We sometimes include them in boiled vegtables and put some meat stock. Or we boil them and put brown sugar until it is syrupy and its a good dessert. We boil some coconut cream put banana, rice balls and sweet potatoes, add some sugar, another good snack. Sweet potatoes are also cooked with beef stew or beef soup to make the soup stock a little sweet. Sweet potatoes are sometimes mixed with monggo beans as paste in thier pastry.

All the sounds delicious - I also add sweet potato to groundnut soup and mushroom - the soup also has either meat, chicken or fish. I am going to try some of the above - where are you from?

Do you have a recipe for the puffs?

Puff is made from flour. Make a dough of flour by adding water and divide it into three portions so that the first is the biggest, the secin, the second big and third the smallest. Now roll out the bigger portion, apply butter and place the rolled out second portion on top of the buttered first portion. Do the same with the third portion. Noww roll the entire thing to a cyindrical shape, refridgerate for an hour, cut into 2" pieses ans rool them again to a square or round shape. place the filling, close and apply beaten egg yolk over it and bake till it is cooked. I hope this helps.

Throw them into your thrash can. Sorry, not a helpful reply but I hope you allow me to state my opinion on sweet potatoes. And that opinion is that I can't simply stand them, they're really dreadful.

I once sliced them really thin and fried them making sweet potato potato chips they were sweet and salty and tasty, I just sliced them thin, fried them in oil until crispy, placed them on a paper towel on a plate and salted them. You could also make a sweet potato pie, just make it the same as you would a pumpkin pie using the boiled and mashed sweet poatoes instead of the pumpkin. I also published a couple of different articles on sweet potatoes here they are: How to Candy Sweet Potatoes http://www.ehow.com/how_4662842_candy-fresh-sweet-potatoes.html Sweet potato casserole side dish http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/382150/easy_yet_tasty_sweet_potato_side_dish.html?cat=22 Hope you enjoy the recipes.

Um... the associatedcontent link gives a message that 'The content you're looking for is temporarily unavailable' - is it the correct link? But your Candy Sweet Potatoes recipe sounds really scrumptious! I'm going to try it out this weekend. One more question though - do you think it would be ok to microwave the sweet potato instead of boil them?

Hi, dolfin In our house, we boil sweet potatoes and then eat it as it is. It is actually yummy without anything else mixed with it. Sometimes, I spread some butter with it and eat it There are also times when we peel it, slice it into about 1/4 cm thin, coat it with white or brown sugar and fry it. Really delicious. Have a nice day!

Yey! I actually love boiled sweet potatoes! :) It goes well with butter, and even a little of brown sugar. There's a sugar here in the Philippines that's called Muscovado, and you can sprinkle it on the sweet potatoes :)

Hi Dolfin, I like to eat sweet potatoes.I can eat with steaming, frying or even baking it. All taste great to me. There are several dishes that I cook using sweet potatoes : 1. Green bean soup with sweet potatoes. It is a great combination and healthy dessert for my family. 2. Cook with porridge. You can also add some other ingredients to the porridge to cook like minced chicken meat and carrots. I always cook this dishes for my family on weekend. 3. make some sort like pie skin using sweet potatoes, mixed with flour and add mixed vegetables in between and steam them. It is best to be served during tea break with a cup of hot tea/coffee. 4. Sweet potatoes is one of the main ingredients to make several kind of desserts. At my country, there do sell dessert called : bubur cha cha and kolak. Both of these dessert need to have sweet potatoes as the main ingredients and they are my favourite dessert. Happy Cooking !!

Love Sweet Potatoesyou can take them and cube them up with Butternut Squash and regular potatoes..Put in large Baking dish.....mix them all together sprinkle with olive oil and Rosemary, and Thyme, and a dash of sage...cover with foil and bake at 350 for about 25 minutes or until all are softit is a good side dish to go with Pork Chops, or ham, or even Italian Sausage which you can throw that in with the potatoe mixture. It is really good. I look for recipies on http://allrecipies.com, or look to the food network for recipies. I also take them after baking them, open up and butter them sprinkle with Brown Sugar and put them back in the oven for about 2-3 minutes to melt the Brown sugar. Delicious!
