Mega stress today. Trying to clean up accounts in readiness for our Homeowners meeting next week in Kingston. I have to have all the info there to answer any question they may ask. I'm in a race against time and the silence from my boss is nerve wracking. He is quiet and not inundating me with emails demanding information asap. The silence has me worried, and as usual I turned to food. Well, not real food but chocolate. I have not bought chocolate for over a year. I do not buy chocolate because I have to eat it all up at one sitting. I have no self control when chocolate is around me. Right? You get the picture? I have to work late and so I went to the convenience store at the nearest gas station to work to buy some milk. I ended up buying all the above candy and forgot to buy the milk. The worse thing is that I AM NOT HUNGRY. I devoured one snicker before I turned the ignition to start the car. I devoured the second snicker as I was waiting to exit the gas station onto the road. I needed nose drops and drove to the pharmacy. I ate a Crunchie Bar before I exited the car. On leaving the Pharmacy I devoured the Kit Kat befoe I reached my office. I have just eaten the potao chips and guess what? I have no milk so I had better get back to the convenience store for the milk and ..well.. who knows? I may be tempted again! What tempts you? come on. Be truthful.

When I read the word 'crisps' then I knew you were a Brit and reading further down confirmed it. Welcome to Mylot. ZI am British but married a Jamaican and have lived here for nearly 40 years. Now at your tender age you can eat all you want and lose it quick but at my age Thanks for responding

Um, first of all, stress is bad for you. Chocolate is bad for you. Send me all your chocolate so that I can save you from yourself. Hey, look, seriously it's been over a year. One binge in over a year, big deal. You're entitled to your one little binge. Anyway, you'll do great. Hang in there until after the big event. You'll be fine... hugs...

No you are wrong! Chocolate comes from the cocoa bean and it grows on trees therefore it is a vegetable and very good for you. I have cocoa trees on the farm and picked the pods of chocolate. Oh Dawn. Have been ranting for two days and this is unusual. I am a tough old bird - so why are tears streaming down my cheeks? Thanks for your support.

I have been known to eat up chocolate pretty fast when I am stressed to. I think it's a woman thing, it's like good stuff for women, though candy is bad! Well the last time this happened to me... I ate a lot of chocolate... oh and ice cream bites.

So that is why is makes us feel good. We had cocoa trees on the farm and each year would pick them, dry them and grate them to make a chocolate drink. The rest we sold.

I am stressed because I do not know what he is planning for me, I have to think what he may spring on me and I have to have the answers or he will make me look stupid and that I cannot cope with the job in from of the owners. I know him so well after 10 years and he is planning something for me to take me by surprise. I have to cover every eventuality that could happen. He is devious. I know that i should pray more - and I do pray - but he is my cross on my back to carry. I need to work 2 morre years - at least. Blessings dear friend.

I know he stresses u out all the time, friend & i am so sorry u have to work w/such a devious person. U sure handle it better than i would. I would have lost my job a long time ago because i would have already told him where to go & what to do when he got there. I'm not the nice person u are, that's for sure. I don't know how u handle it now much less 2 more years of it. I wish u all the best.

Hey cynthiann, don't be so hard on yourself. So you fell off the chocolate wagon once in a whole year? To people that can't go a day without their (insert weakness here), an entire year is incredible. Spend more time finding ways to reduce your stress that don't involve opening your mouth - you know, like in eating, drinking, smoking, yelling/screaming, and so on. Ironically, we all seem to "need" something from the store when we are stressed. Next time only take enough money with you for the milk. Or, forget the milk and live without it for a day. If all else fails, you can always call on your friend Dawnald. What a great gal - offering to have you send all your chocolate to her for your own protection - WOW

I agree with you. Dawn is a wonderful friend to me and many others. We have a wacky sense of humour. I only turn into a rotweiler on very few occasions - and this was one of them. I normally go down to the sea - my office is by a privat beach - and a fewminutes ther will usually calm me. But it was a definite binge! Blessings

When I see a commercial on the tv I will sometimes get a craving for certain foods..Since I am diabetic I try to stay away from candy, cookies, etc.. Sometimes I get a craving for them and I will buy a pack of chip's ahoy chocolate chip cookies(my favorite)I will eat almost the whole pack at one sitting..Same way with cake, candy, and brownies with cream cheese icing..Like you I am not hungry,I just get a craving and have to have one or the other..

Hi. cynthiann. Wow! You are really splurging! The food that tempts me is chocolate chip cookies. I made some last week with a pizza and I could not stop eating them! I ate about 9 out of 12 of them. The rest my kids ate. I am also like this when it comes to eating Hot and Spicy chicken party wings too. Once I eat one, I can't stop eating!

You sound just like me! One day I had a 6 pack of Hershey bars sitting in my dresser drawer, being hidden from the kids. I'd actually forgotten they were there too, but one day when I was so stressed I saw them and thought I'd have one. One turned into all 6 and I went and bought some more the next day. Tuesday night I had to run out for a candy bar too because I was all sorts of stressed. So I blame being overweight on my kids.. they make me stressed so in turn they make me fat. I bought some oreo's today. Once the kids are in bed I'll be munching on those! I'm having another stressful day!

Hi, I too sometimes eat more of Potato or other salty chips ;when under stress. or I may eat more of the sweet things . This is not good however;and it damages the body to some extent . It is better to have more fruits and vegetable soups etc to take care of this problem . Regards

I usually eat like that when I'm sick. It's odd but I will eat candy, cookies and chips all at one time. Like my body is saying "this will make you feel better." And while I'm eating it, I do feel better. LOL But when I'm just going through a normal day, I don't eat that much of what THEY call junk food. It's not actually junk to me. LOL

I wouldn't feel guilty. As long as you are healthy, what's to feel guilty about. You can't drink on the job. You can't yell and scream. It's an outlet like any other outlet. It's not like it's every day right. LOL

Hi cynthainn, I have to say that's just gross. I can understand the crunchie, even two crunchies, but crips and snickers yuck. At what point exactly were you violently sick? I am tempted by bougatsa which is a delicious cinnamon custard filled pastry covered with iceing sugar. I have no intention ever of finding out how to make them as Im quite fond of getting through the front door not having to take extra bricks off from round the side. I'm also not tempted by the ones locally, but only by the ones in town as they microwave them first. So all in all I'm not tempted more than 50 times a year.

Only 50 times a year? Well, that is not bad at all. It is not an addiction. It actually sounds very wonderful and I can make custard but have not thought of adding cinnamon to it. I expect that when they microwave them then they are warm and moist and it would bring out the flavour of the cinnamon.....Oh dear! Seriously, I am now passed that as my mega meeting so over and I have my job for another year. so no more binging! did you say that there was icing sugar on the pastry?

Cinnamon goes in many things in Greece sweet wise, and I add rather a lot to my mousakkas too. The real addiction is the coffee which goes with the bogousta, I confess I'm a coffeholic but can't bear a grain of sugar near it, which makes ny bougata with icing sugar a bit of a rare thing for me. I am most glad to hear that your binging days are over, all that chocolate sounding perfectly ghastly because you forgot to put it in the deep freeze first, much much better. What a pity they don't sell crunchies in Greece.

My chilli addiction is sadly reduced to powder these days and believe me it's just not the same. I adore chillis, the hotter the better, but obviously too hot for the locals too handle.

You've had some bad stress today, I believe, especially since you forgot to get the milk, lol! I think not only does your boss have you stressed out but the lawyer you mentioned in the last discussion probably does, too. I get tempted by chocolate sometimes, too. I'm always tempted to get dessert whenever I go out to eat. I don't worry about it then, though, because most of the time, I try to watch what I eat. I think we all tend to overeat whenever we're stressed out or whenever we're depressed. I went to weight watchers several years ago and several people mentioned that they tend to eat more during these times. I don't know how you can eat all chocolate in one sitting. I couldn't do that, myself. I get full just after eating one chocolate bar! That had to be pretty fasting eating to devour one snicker bar before turning on the ignition. Please know that I am on your side, though. Kathy.

I don't go into convenience stores, which is how I avoid temptation. Fortunately, there is a grocery store near my house so i can go there when I need milk. Because I am on a tight budget, i can't buy things that aren't on my list, so it kind of works out. (Oh, and what usually tempts me is ice cream, so I just don't go down that aisle).

Tasty food tempts me more than all the sweets and chocolates. I guess that is because I like to cook my own food and I think that my stuff is better than a lot of restaurants. Not only that but when you do it yourself you can have as much as you want without the limitations of the paid for variety of food. Its better to do it yourself everytime. I believe that.

They call it emotional eating or something I do it all the time and I can’t stop doing it. A lot of people know that my weakness are Kit Kats, in fact I got my husband to buy me one when he went to the shops earlier because I feel a little edgy and stressed. I’ve just tried to balance our bank accounts and the situation is dismal so instead of thinking about how I could make a little extra money, what do I do? I eat chocolate and not look at the bank statements again!

That is the exact phrase that I coul not remember. Emotional eating - eating to feel good. don't beat up on yourself re the bank balance - we al do these things. And as a very young friend of mine here said - it is a woman thing. I do hope that your financial situation improves. Mine is worse than dismal. Blessings and remember never give up,. This will pass like everything else in pour life

Hi Cynthiann, You seem have a stressful day again. Relax, get a fresh air before you continue your work again. It is not good to eat too much junk foods.Do remember to drink more water after eating your junk food to prevent heatiness in your body. I am not a junk food lover ,when I am stress, I prefer to either sleep or watching TV or just out for a fresh air.Going shopping is a good way to release stress for me.
