Have you decided to get a swine flu shot, in light of all the people who are currently getting sick? Do you think the vaccine will be safe?

I have never had a normal flu shot and I certainly will not be having this one. I shall let fate take its course. If I am to get it then I would rather I caught it from some other source than having it directly injected into me. No thanks I shall pass on this one

You are so correct! I do not wish to be a guinea pig for this hit and miss experiment so I shall just take pot luck and hope that fate will steer me clear of it

...Hi mysdianait, I do not get the regular flu shot, because I have a big problem knowing that the vaccine is the germ itself. So I try to keep myself as healthy in the winter as I can, and when I think I am getting a cold I take preventive steps, to try to ward it off. The other thing is that, when a new strain of flu arrives, the first people who receive the shots are usually the guinea pigs, I'm sorry to say. Take care.

I do not intend to get a swine flu shot! I think the vaccine was rushed through too fast. Who knows what kind of side effects there will be? I think this whole swine flu business has been blown out of proportion any way. People die of the flu every day. You won't even know its the swine flu unless you get tested at the time you have the flu. I hope you stay well over the coming months. Best wishes!

...Hi bmorehouse1, I have not gotten a flu shot for a number of years, and knock on wood and everything else, I have not come down with the flu either. I read on this site in one of the older postings, that five naval ships had been turned back to the U. S., because everyone on board who had gotten the flu shot, had come down with the flu. They are, after all supposed to be injecting you with the virus. Most people who get the initial shots will be testers in essence, to see what the side effects are. It's a bit scary. Hope you stay well also. Take care.

Hi artistry, well the publicity said they were going to be offered to all here in September, but they weren't. As it appears not to be on the rampage round here I shall desist for now but if it comes back next year with the advent of new tourists I may consider it then. By then the safety of said vaccine will probably have been tested out.

..Hi theo09, It has been announced that it should be available here in two weeks. the swine flu, is affecting the younger people, in a bad way. They say because they have not built up sufficient immune system defenses. This winter may be rough, some of the schools and colleges over here are closing down for periods of time, because of the outbreak of illness on the campuses already. Hope that there are not a lot of people who get very sick, the regular flu takes a great toll, without the other strain. Take care, take your vitamins. :o)
