Okay, this hopefully will be interesting. It's late at night here in America, and I've decided to take a poll just to see if I can get some actual honesty out of Mylot. Americans who use this site: What do you come here for? To keep up with the revolving door of pay per whatever site and the information that they entail or to maybe get referrals? Or do you come here like I do, for an occasional debate or social commentary? Be honest please, I find that so few are on this site these days. Now for all others that are not Americans, I would like to know where you're from and your reasons to visit this site, same questions as above. I'm just curious to see how evenly it all matches up. And finally,if you are actually here for the money, how much computer time do you have to put in so as to make actual money. Time is valuable, so is it worth it?

As for the money, that's not the objective. I used to belong to a site called 'this is by us' some while back (it went belly up) that was similar to mylot. For me, if I might drift back a couple generations, this site is much like the Old General Store where you just hung out and caught up on the news, the gossip and such. Of course, this is not so localized as that, but its much the same idea. Sometimes I can help folks out. Sometimes it works the other way. Or I might find a fist shaking, name calling type discussion to let off steam in and, always, I can learn stuff about cultures, lifestyles, governments that aren't defined to me by biased sources by rote..Such as that is why I hang here.. ENJOY!

What a good explanation. for the older generation,it is like a Old general store, and for the new generation with their fancy cell phones and LED monitors,it is a mordern supermarket.

I started coming to mylot because of the discussions. After a while it just seems like the discussions are all the same. So, why do I come back? After a while I just like coming by the site and seeing what some of my friends are up to. There are a handful of people I've met on this site who I check in on every now and then. So, how have ya been talker96?

This is actually the first post I've had here in awhile. I just did it on a whim. Why exactly does all your stuff end on April 22? Your blog, twitter, everything....where'd ya go?

I'm here from Chicago. I post similarly to you, but the ability to earn some cash (however little it really is) is definitely a nice bonus. I am actually a freelance programmer/server administrator, so I spend the majority of my day at a computer and posting on various discussion communities over the web.

Hey I am from India, and it is 12 noon on the 3rd October. I am here so that I can talk to people like you. I would like to get more information on the way of life, and any other things from people who live so far away from me. Money is secondary, even if I post more than 20 to 30 posts a day, I may get hardly about 20 to 30 cents which is the maximum I have got.So to reach $10 it is going to take atleast a minimum of 2 months.Whereas I pay nearly $40 for my broad band connection for a month. Regarding the time spent on the computer, it depends, some days I sit for 3 to 4 hours, some days just 1 hour and some days I do not even go near the computer. The problem is I love this site, and I love to communicate with all kinds of people like you.

But there are so many other sites out there with real time conversation, so why this one? As for my way of life, let's see, I'm sitting here watching Chelsea Lately on the E network and waiting on my girlfriend to get back from going out with her sister. It doesn't get more exciting than that. And you? It's 12 noon, do you work? What's happening in India right at this moment? Anything cool or exciting to report?

Well, when I started using the internet, I chanced upon this site. Since I liked this site, I just continued it. Since today is Saturday, I had taken leave from my work, so that I can enjoy an extended weekend. You see, October 2nd was a holiday, because of "Gandhiji's" birthday. (In case you do not know him, he was the person who got us Independence from the British)Nothing cool, just watching the reruns in HBO and STAR movies.

Hi talker96, I am from India. The reason I come here is because I can read thru a variety of discussions. Its like meeting a cross section of society at the same time, and that too from all parts of the world! We have Europeans, we have people from Midle East, Far East, and then some from Australia as well, apart from Americ and Canada of course. So their views based on the conditions and laws of their countries and how they differ from ours is really fascinating. I also look at this as a place where I can discuss my idiosyncracies without losing friends. LOL. But I ain't joking. I keep getting these ideas at times, and dont really have anybody to share them with. For instance, I was able to suggest that since we use up lands to build our homes, and roads, we should at least utilize our terraces to grow some vegetables as that would mean fertile land is left alone to grow staple food. That way some of the food crisis would disappear. I did mention it to a couple of real friends, and was scoffed. But Dranz thought it worthy of best response! So, people are there to listen to us, however ridiculous our ideas may sound and make us feel they are not that wrong after all. Money, of course, is important. I do Sharon Bucks tasks to justify my time out here. Since I am forced to read thru somethings, I do feel more enlightened from there as well. I learn different ways of expressing. I like the way grandpa_lash lashes out. :) Hiccup is a bit cryptic for me as yet. But I am trying to learn his way of expression as well. Thea occassionally writes cryptically - which everybody else understands except me.:) Jonjee - I really enjoy reading his discussion - very informative. On the whole, mylot makes me feel "normal", and not an artificial person, which I seem to have reduced myself to in real world. I love coming here. I try earning the 10 dollar every month. But I also try to do reasonable number of tasks so that I learn more about what u all are talking and why u all can get so worked up against Obama. I am just two months old. :( But I think our cost of living is much lower than what it is in the United States and Europe. Therefore, everything that I earn here also has some value. :) I dont think I spend as much as Rameshkumaar (1st post) on broadband though I've not really worked the economics. Today is Sunday so I can afford to be here for hours, subject of course, to my routine chores. I also have another reason to be here. I am addicted to eating. If left alone to watch television, I can ingest a lot. Since typing requires both hands, there is little scope to use either of the two hands for eating. And therefore, my diet has come down! I think it is worth it, if u can combine discussions with some tasks. :)
