Before to go to work or to walk, or shopping, or before you sleep you check very good your door and windows , just you afraid that somebody can enter without your permition? Or do you have a pet dog who "help" you to protect the house and protect you too? Or maybe you have nice peoples around who try to look all time and check if somebody is not ok?

Usually I have a nice people who will around, but if I am staying alone, I will make sure everything is locked properly before I'm going to sleep or going away. I am cautious person, so I tend to do it a few times. Happy Mylotting

Most of the time I would check out my windows and door before going out. I should not leave the windows open or else my place would get wet from the strong rains especially at this season. I always make sure that door is always locked as I do not want to lose some important things and I have a room mate so keeping the door locked before going to sleep or going out is first things first for me.

I always check the doors but we rarely check the windows. We rarely have the windows open in the first place so we tend to avoid checking them everytime that we go out but I'm pretty compulsive when it comes to checking the door and making sure it is locked.

Yes, I do that every single day, basicly I do check my window/door even when I pop out to kitchen or toilet, and also taking a bath. I'm very sensitive with that stuff and being not-so-careful can result in loosing my important stuffs. I don't have any pet here which can be a 'security' in my room, and relying myself on someone else at home doesn't help me much. So, it is me who have to be responsible to keeping my own room safe, and looked.

Yeah. Since I'm the last person who go to sleep in our house, I am definitely in-charge of making sure the lights are turned off and the doors are locked. It is kinda scary going out the house to check the gates and everything but I got used to it.

i or anyone in the family will always make sure that the doors and windows are locked before we leave out and it is very necessry to do this as there ia always a tension of theft and any crime to take place and it is always better to be secure. i dont think tht neighbours too have time to spend on watching others houses and may be it is by chance someone can find somethin wrong happening in the place so it is always better to take our own care and not to depend on anyone.

I check my doors at least twice before I start out.. I keep my main door closed when I am alone.. I sometimes make a check if the street is deserted or not too.. Safety comes first before anything right! :)

Yes, that's my job. As I MyLot late into the wee hours of the morning, this is now my job. I have to make sure all the windows are latched tight. Then I will ensure the outside gate is also latched. That my car doors are all shut tightly. Lastly, I will double-locked my front door and switched o n the 'cat's eye' before going to bed!

Hello What a great question, so funny because I do this everyday I check my windows, stove, unplug my extension cord if I don't do these things I will go nuts, before walking out doing these things became a habit, don't worry about the door considering I will lock it when I leave, my daughter told me the other day that our neighbor always knock on the door to give her the keys because she forgets them in the door, that really pissed me off, one time fine, two you really need to be aware of what you are doing, 3 times how irresponsible is that, what if the neighbor is not paying attention and someone else take the keys, knowing her she will not tell me because she knows I will be upset, really sad, grrrr just the thought makes me really upset. Great post, thank you so much.

We do live in a very nice area of our town. All the people on our block have a habit of looking out for people that dont belong in the area so it is rather safe. We still make a habit of making sure all doors are locked and windows are locked mostly because in our insurance policy it states thats if we ever had a break in and it could be proved that we didnt have things secured they could possibly not have to pay on the claim. Always better to be safe than sorry later.

I always make sure that the doors and windows of my house are secured before I go to bed or when we go out to shop. My neighborhood is quite safe, but still you cannot be sure that your house will not be burglarized. My next door neighbor has relatives staying over, family members who have lost their homes due to floods here in the Philippines. I don't really like them and I should pity them because they have lost their homes. But I can't help feeling jittery when I see them outside my house.

HI Icesmile, I always check the windows and doors to make sure they are locked properly before I go to bed. It is a good action to prevent any robbery to be happened. Sometimes although you have lock the windows and doors, robbery still can always happen. It ia unavoidable. When there is nobody at home, I will always on the lights at the yards and also at least one of the light inside the house is On too.Even before I go to bed, I will on one of the light near the staircase,in case, during midnight there is something happened, it is easier to find the way out. I do not have a dog at home to protect my house,It is troublesome to keep a pet at home as I won't have time to takecare of it.Therefore,by locking the doors and windows properly is a way to protect my house from robbery.

I really need to be more diligent about this when I leave the house during the day. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I have left the house to take the kids to their gymnastics class on Wednesdays and I forget to lock the back door. I just don't even think about it for some reason. And inevitably, my husband has to tell me about it because he gets back home before I do. However, in my defense, we do have a privacy fence that is latched from the inside and we also have two dogs that are here to protect our family. As far as the front door and the windows, those are always locked at night and when we leave the house during the day.

hello, whenever I go out, I would check all that, I would leave my window open, so that when I come back, I won't feel that my room is smelly bad, and I would check if I locked the door, though usually there's nothing expensive thing in my room, but everything is cheriable, and the feeling of being break into is not good! I would check all that before I go to sleep too, leave the window open too, I am living in a higher floor, nobody can climb so high place, and locked the door. Whenever I saw the safegarding person walking in the first floor, I would feel safe!
