Starting a No Carbs diet

So I've recently decided that I'd like to lose 10 or 15 pounds and thought I'd go the route of No carbs. I've been researching it online and it seems by eliminating refined carbohydrates such as bread and pasta, your overall body fat content should decrease.. especially around the abdominal area. Has anybody had decent results trying this approach? Also, has it seemed to have been a longterm success for you, or was it short lived once you started incorporating carbs again?

As others have said, be careful with the no carb diet. My aunt had a lot of success in terms of losing weight with the no carb diet but now she is having many health problems. Are you still planning on eating some good carbs such as rice and potatoes? If you are that should be fine, bread and pasta are not very good for you anyway because they are so heavily processed so taking just the bread and pasta out of your diet will help you lose weight and you should have more energy and feel better too. But I would not eliminate all carbs, just the bad ones. If you start eating the bad carbs again you will eventually gain the weight back so this will have to be a permanent change if you want to keep the weight off. After you have lost the weight you can occasionally eat some bad carbs but if you start eating them regularly again you will gain the weight back so make sure you are ready to commit to this change. Also, if you incorporate just 20 minutes of exercise three days a week it can make a big difference too. It does not have to be super intense exercise, you can just go for a walk or go swimming, whatever you would enjoy. Good luck!

Thanks! I just started this diet one week ago and have cut out carbs completely, even the "good" carbs. This morning I weighed in and lost exactly 4 pounds since last sunday. The only tricky part- I am also a vegetarian. So not eating carbs in addition to not eating meat has left me with few food options, but I seem to like the ones I have found. My week consisted of vegetable soup (with no potaoes), celery with peanut butter, scrambled eggs, vegetable medleys, and a veggie patty. Not so bad. I did feel like I had more energy. As far as the excercising, I'm on a volleyball club team so we run 5k three times a week as a team, in addition to our games. So the excercise I'm not worried about. Thank you for your help!!
