Do you enjoy watching television commercials? If so, what are some of your favorite commercials? Are you a muter? There are a few very entertaining commercials, I love the one with the green lizard looking creature. The quacking duck is funny, the two guys, talking on the telephone, while one is upside down, not. What commercial do you find interesting or funny or not?

I usually do not watch the commercials, I use that time to do something like going to the bathroom, or getting something from the kitchen, or something else that is needed done.

.....Hi dlr297, I too find watching commercial such a waste of time, I find myself being very grateful to the inventor of the mute button. The inane messages put forth in commercials, just makes me wonder who has the final approval to pay for the copy. Maybe if I were developing a commercial, I would have a hard time pleasing my audience as well. What happened to the focus groups? Thanks for your response.

Personally, i hate commercials. One reason I have a cable at home. Have mostly tuned in to programs which do not have commercials. I don't even know thats the latest commercial released by famous products. Commercials do not absolutely reflect the product but its just a form of eluding the public to buy them. Take the instance of food supplements, many people come to believe that these are medicines to cure sickness such as diabetes, kidney stone, heart problem. And shampoos, with all the beautiful models, actors and actress. Do you think that they really used the product they are endorsing? And laundry soaps and powder, does these famous celebrities really do their washing?.

actually, that the only reason why i hated them. i would better rely on the labels on each product's packaging before buying them. thats the only fact where I can see whats that particular product really brings to me or my love ones.

I realized most of your responders hate commercials but its actually different for my case, I like watching commercials maybe because of the factor that i have studied marketing, when i was still in my college days we were asked to watch commercials and do some reports on this, the concepts, the views, the pwerful messages that reaches out. after that it has become a kind of a habbit for me to actually stop and watch commercials looking at how the ideas were made, seeing how it was delivered to the public. I have love a lot a different commercials by now. and i do find them very informative thats why i think i will never stop watching them.

...Hi mesusky, thank you for your response. Yes most are not fond of commercials, but one also has to realize that without the commercials, we would not have the programs that we enjoy. So, it is as I mentioned somewhere here, part of the process. Thank you for sharing your experience with us. You are viewing it from a different angle. Like a building being looked at by a group of people and most of the onlookers do not like the style of the building, but an architect comes along and starts to describe the history of the style of the building and explains why the angles of the building are the way they are. When he gets finished, the onlookers, have a new found understanding of the building and modify their reaction to it. You have provided a broader understanding in the discussion of commercials and I thank you so much for your input. Take care.

Hi artistry, you should really turn your notifiers on then we would be alerted to your discussions. I really don't enjoy the adverts at all, I used to specifically tape my television viewing so I could fast foward through them. Here they are on so long one could cook a three course meal in the time they are on so I usuallly just turn them off as I can't be bothered to wait that long for the programme to come back.

I hate commercials. In my country, every 10 or 15 minutes, commercials come on for 5 minutes, sometimes 7 minutes. I get up, made some tea, wash my face and finished my tea and the commercial is still on! I can't stand it, I don't care if its funny, but if it goes on for 15 commercials, I consider all commercials NOT funny even if they are.

...Hi kl_blueknight. You hit a real pet peeve of mine with commercials as well, they go on and on. It is so annoying, you sometimes, or I do anyway, forget where the program you were watching left off. If only they could find a way to pay for programs without commercials. Thanks for your response. Take care.

No, that's what we have the DVR for. Besides that, when I'm watching live television I usually have my laptop on my lap. So when the commercials come on, I just use my computer and ignore the television. Or I change the channel and find something that's still on. When I do catch commercials, I love the iPod commercials. The new iPod Nano 5G commercial introduced me to a great song, Bourgeois Shangri-la. I also like the Geico commercials, especially the ones with the googly-eyed money.

....Thanks for your response juwujaren, yep, the time can be used for all kinds of things, calling a friend, kitchen break, garden of Eden break, computer time. It is amazing though, the number of minutes devoted to commercials during a program. I flip over to another station during a commercial break and they are coordinated, they all break at the same time, which is another annoyance, at least to me. Take it easy. Oh, I have to look for the iPod commercial, and I must say, I do pay attention when they use an old song that I like, such as "At Last" the Geico commercial is one of my favorites, especially the little green thingee. :o)

...Hi Hatley, my real first name and the name you use here are similar in a way. I too love the Aflack commercial and the Geico one. I like the music in a lot of them, but for the most part I mute the sound or go and do something else, to fill the time. Commercials have a purpose, and a need. I just think there could be better thought put into the process to improve on the content, also to shorten them. Take it easy. Your laugh on paper sounds like my sister. :o)

I can't stand tv commercials at all. So I usually change channels or get up and do something like get a snack or put another load of laundry in the washing machine.

....Hi there lelin123, I use the time to do something else as well, the mute button is also my very good friend. Lately I have noticed that the allotted time for commercials has increased. The other thing is that they now also try to make the commercial into a story, which catches my attention, but then I forget what the product was, so that seems to be a wasted effort as well. Thanks for your reply.

Most of the time I mute the commercials. To me some of just stupid and I can not figure out what it has to do with what they are trying to sell. Yes the one talking on the telephone with the one upside down is pretty stupid I do not like it either.

...happy6162, thank you for response. I do the same thing, my mute button is my friend. They have taken to showing real people and then they show their insides, like an x-ray machine, that gets on my nerves. Not interested in seeing animated pictures of a person's insides. Just tell me what the product will do. Leave the person's body intact. Sorry to rant. Take care.

There are some television commercials are very exaggerated and not funny anymore such as some magical portray. I always appreciate tv commercials with a survey strategy because it is possible that really had the survey about their product.
