i don't know what brand is good for you,but when you buy the laptop, you should pay attention to the noise made by the hard disk, and check whether it has light spot when the screen is black.you'd better come to agreement before opening the package so that you can change it for a new one once you happen to a bad one .remember to ask for the invoice .

Hey there! You could always go for an Acer or an Asus laptop. Most of their mid-end laptops are pretty good and affordable. Their battery lives are pretty good as well. Toshiba would also be a good brand to look for but their laptops are a bit more expensive than the Acer and Asus ones.
