Hi mylotters. Well nothing can compete with paper yet but I wonder whether any of us read an e-book before? Is it ok for you to read your favourite writer in front of a screen or prefer to "hold it" in your hands? E-books cut costs sharply for publishers but what about us? I would like to hear your opinions.

lots of people take to ebook mode to cut costs as well to reach the readers fast. while going through a publisher, the chances of rejection are extremely high. with ebooks its easy to reach each and every corner of the world instantly. I have lots of ebooks in my collections. i love to read. anybody here want it can PM me.

I personally like the feel of having a real book than an ebook but both have their advantages and disadvantages. Firstly, having a book in physical form means you can easily have bookmarks on the pages than on pdf files. When I read a book I have to either write down the page number I am on and then find it on the ebook. Second, I find it easier to read from a book than from a computer screen. I tend to get watery eyes much more quicker by staring at a screen than when I'm reading a book in my hand. The advantages of an ebook is that you can keep many of them on your computer without needing to worry about where to keep them and the condition of the book never deteriorates. It will never get torn pages on them or get coffee split on them and ruining the pages. Also, they cost less to produce for the manufacturers and consequently they are often much cheaper when we buy them as an ebook. These are my opinions and I would to hear yours.

I have just read one e-book so far (It was Deception point from Dan Brown). But several e-magazines are still lying inside my computer. One can be consumed just in a few minutes and can be re-touched afterwards. The other one needs care, spending hours alone. I'm far from e-book concept but a fan of e-magazines actually.

I remember that I started reading Post Singular as an ebook a while back and that was when I got into reading ebooks. I've never read any e-magazines and haven't came across any yet.

Hello megalotti. My teen son loves to read e-books. He usually downloads them to his mp4 and then reads them. I think that it is a good idea to read e-books. This way, more trees are protected and so it is with the environment.

I enjoy a good book now and then and prefer to hold it or own a copy. My daughter isn't on the internet and we share stories, or books. So I would have to say I would prefer to own a copy so that I can share it with other people.

I think that reading ebooks are much more affordable for people who enjoys books fast at this time and place. it is even more convenient to buy the books now since you can access them online and even re-download it if you accidentally lost yours. i like reading ebooks cause in about one gigabyte you can add about 1000 books. it's lighter and easier for us to carry without the actual weight of the book.

I do collect many e-books as per my requirements and do refer according to my needs. But its some times not suits to me as I cant spend my whole time with them. Some time my eyes get stain. But e-books are really wonderful concepts and purely cost effective. If they digitalizes with some programs, publishers will also get good return for their works.

I do not not realy care for e-books. I much prefer to read on print. when I buy novels I read either paperback or hardback. I jsut do not care for reading on a compter screen. it is allright for short reading like in the internet and e-mail but for a long story, I have to have print. I do have some e-books on a cd-rom but I used my printer to print out the story. I have not done that too mcuh becase it is expensive.

I like e-books. It lets me easily reading outdoor (PSP/mobile) without bringing a heavy book . It also provides search function, that should be useful if you are looking for particular words. Problem is I can get ebooks very easy, hence I have hundreds of unseen ebooks sitting in my computer. And it is difficult to organize, and hard to choose which book I want to read next, also chance to miss a useful book. Especially when I purchase some ebooks online, and they are put together with lots of free ebooks. Because of the arrangement, I will need to create many different folders to organize them. And I always forgot I have some ebooks really useful and waiting for me to read. I am still thinking of the solution. Happy myLotting=]

i've read lots of fiction e-books. it's more convenient for me i just download the file to my cellphone so i can read the novel anywhere i go. unlike the actual book it's a little bulky to bring with you anywhere. but i'll still want to buy the actual book as part of my (dream) collection :D

Yes I like ebooks a lot as I am a student of technologies need lot of updates regulary. So I collect many ebooks form internet and download them and use them according to my need. Some times I get bore to read that electronic stuff on screen at that time I feel paper books are good. But with change of technologies we must chanage accordingly.

Well ebooks not only cut costs for the publishers but these help the customers as well. In case if a person has to get a large number of books, it better if these are in e form as they save space. Not only that a lot of the books are available free of cost. Hence these are both ways beneficial to the book sellers and customers as well.

e-books are fine but sometimes it is better to read a real book and read it with your own personal feelings than just listening to those readers who just read for the sake of finishing it. :-)
