http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2010011480_apusoddwalkingwithcross.html Mr. Strickland is dragging a cross from Texas to Washington. Should he be allowed to do this? Aren't the roads he's traveling on public property, and therefore no place for a cross to be displayed?

I dont see any reason why he cant he has every constitutional right to do what he is doing he isnt breaking any laws and if you are worried about the cross being displayed on a public highway then perhaps you need to drive done a highway and look at all the memorial crosses that line the side of the road honoring people who lost their lives on that road on second thought maybe you shouldnt because it might offend you and before you assume that I am Christian and want the cross to be displayed everywhere let me tell you that I am NOT a Christian but still I am not offended by seeing one on the side of the road

How about that Cross being displayed on federal land? Should it be treated the same as the Crosses along the side of the road.

Sure he should be "allowed" to do this. As long as he doesn't cause a traffic problem.

Holy Crap! So what? Let the man carry a cross. Our country was founded on Christian Beliefs. The Constitution grants us the ability to practice our religion with out interference. It does NOT say there will be no religion. The separation of church and state has been an ongoing argument. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I've seen a man here carrying a cross before and what a blessing! What an awesome reminder of Christ's awesome love by dying in our place on the cross! I'm so grateful that people are doing these things because we need the Lord so desperately! God bless!

Yes, he should be allowed to carry a cross. It's a display of religious freedom and freedom of speech; Christians have just as much of a right to speak up for their faith, as do Jews, Muslims, and other groups. Plus, you're misunderstanding the whole "separation of church and state" issue. The Founders never intended for God to be completely stripped from public life; what they were aiming for was a government that would not establish a state religion, as they had over there in England (basically over there, you were either an Anglican, or you weren't, and woe to you if you weren't.).
