Help! I Have A Serious Addiction And I Need My Friends Help

Yes, yes, it's true, I've developed a serious addiction and I need my friends to help me. Uh, actually I can blame my friends for this addiction, and NO this isn't a flaming bashing thing...but I need help and wonder if there is a cure for my addiction. What addiction am I talking about? Facebook, that's what I'm talking about and all the different games one can play there. I joined up with Facebook a long, long time ago, but never indulged in any of the interactive games one can play there, until only about a week ago...yes, only a week ago--I now belong to Café World, Restaurant City, YoVille, FarmTown, Barn Buddy,FarmVille, Mafia Wars, Fairyland, School of Magic, Treasure Mania, Pirates, Pet Society and the list keeps growing. I noticed that so many of my MyLot friends who are over there were involved with a lot of these games and kinda felt left out that I wasn't involved...uh, now I am...BIG time. Anyway, some of my friends here might have noticed I'm not as active here since I'm over "there"--- Anyway---to my friends here that are there too, do you find you're hopelessly addicted to those games..do you spend a lot of time playing the games, are you getting any "serious" work done since you became involved? (I sure as heck not) Is there a cure for this addiction?

I was wondering what happened to you! Several of my friends there have gotten addicted to the games there too. I keep getting invitations, but thankfully I always delete them. Even though I don't do the games there...I can't point a finger at you. I'm just as addicted to the games at Pogo. Probably the only sure cure is a power outage.

I can only imagine if there's a real power outage, oh my! There goes the reality of not depending on those games to pass the hours..

Yep, Pogo is great too. I actually play and host for a tournament league there. Cat, you would probably enjoy Facebook games if you tried them....but then again you'd just have another addiction, lol. :-D Will have to check out bored.com, sounds like something my sister would enjoy.

remember, they don't pay you to play there - so if you are playing, you aren't getting payed - oh sure, its only pennies here, but you have some other projects that make you more...

how to end facebook addiction
Ha Ha!!! Welcome to my HELL!!! Yeah, once you get into some of those games, there's no turning back. I was also introduced to FB from a friend here and I just sat on it foe a while.......I wasn't really sure what the point was. But then I started playing some of the games and it was all over except for the carpal tunnel and eye strain. I can't complain though.....I get to play games, take quizzes, and I have nearly 40 friends on my friends list who are either myLot members or former myLot members. So, I get the best of both worlds, PLUS I've met quite a few new friends on FB. The one sure fire way to end your addiction is illustrated in the photo below. Other than that......you're on your own, Are we having fun yet???

Yep--there certainly isn't any turning back. I didn't see the real point of Facebook either nor the games...but now I'm so hooked it's pathetic...uh, as for the solution, don't think I want to quite go THAT far.

I'm addicted also. I am on Pet Society and Mafia Wars. I can't get enough of those games. Yes, my entire life suffers because of Facebook, but I do love Pet Society. There are so many things you can do there. I stopped playing the Restaurant one; I could keep up with it.

Hiya Pye.. Welcome to the club of gaming addicts, LOL. I have been addicted for months there now, and I've yet to find that one day whereby I don't log in at all, unless I'm super busy. I would love to be your Mafia buddy there. I'm not on those cafe games and Farmville, but I adore how the graphic looks like; I'm more of the Street Racing dude and Mafia Wars; crazy for these games. If you wanna add me up, I'll send you my link through pm yeah. Would be great to have more gaming buddies to add to my existing members. Best advice: Just go with the flow and don't fight the addiction. ROFL......

hi pye -- i haven't played games on facebook. my addiction to games is at pogo.com, msn.com, king.com, freearcade.com and occasionally other sites. I don't know of a cure. Maybe someone will start a 12-step group for game addicts. GAA (Games Addicts Anonymous) I wouldn't join because I haven't reached bottom. I'm still enjoying the time I spend playing.

I kind of gave up with pogo...it's not very Mac computer friendly for some reason and I used to get a lot of glitches with it. Yes, maybe a GAA should be established

Yeah I have noticed you over there a lot just lately haha! I defected to facebook a while ago now because of the games and hey I am still there so if there is a cure for the addiction of the games there then I have not found it yet! Although I have cut down on the amount of games I play, only because there are just not enough hours in the day, unfortunately! At the moment I am focusing on mafia wars, pet society and yoville!

Bwahahaa - I too am addicted to Cafe World at the moment! YoVille too - just can't stop myself! I also have an Island, and FarmTown and FarmVille - but I've had to put my farms out to pasture as the cafe is taking up all my time at the moment. It's horribly addictive, and I can't remember having a life! I hardly ever have time for myLot anymore, so one addiction has made way for another one. A bit sad, really - but we're having fun ... aren't we?

Your cafe is wonderful, Pye - I'd love to eat there (and virtually did)! I haven't visited my poor farms for quite a few weeks - the cafe and YoVille are taking up all my time at the moment. I also have Sims, which I got for my birthday - and I try to spend some time on that. Pity about all the reading and writing I should be doing ... not to mention the housework!

Sure there is a cure. Just log off of the site and never go there again. Don't do it to yourself. It might be easier to only limit yourself to a certain amount of time there. But, you know you won't be able to do it. Do the right thing. You know it is best. Take the right path.

LOL--no I don't think logging off and not going there again would help...I think I like the Café World one as it fulfills that idea of having my own restaurant (people have often said I was such a great cook and should open one)--as for those farming type ones...another dream of mine to grow my own food and have a farm...LOL

Are we friends over there? My main addiction there has been FarmTown. I've been playing that game forever it seems. That is one of the reasons I haven't been here at myLot much. Too much time playing carious games at FB. i PLAY SLOTS OF VARTIOUS STYLES, mAFIA wARS AND THATS IT BASICALLY. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Sometimes it is good to chill out and play games, as it is good for stress and just chilling. I am on facebook, but I just use it to keep up on my family, without all the myspace stuff.

Hello Pye! Yes, I play a lot of games on facebook too. I'm not addicted to most of them, thank goodness as I would never get anything else done if I was! LOL! However, I love Yoville! Yoville is my favorite game ever and I think I may be a little addicted to that one! As for a cure, I'm not sure. I used to have one for Yoville, but not any more. You see I first played Yoville on Myspace. I really loved it when I played there for quite a while too. However, back then, the game was a little less developed than it is now. Like, you didn't really advance up levels, as I recall, when I first started playing, you didn't get new abilities and/or special prizes upon advancing up each of those levels, etc. So basically, after I had finished furnishing and decorating my apartment, bought a house and finished furnishing and decorating that, and had played at the dirt bike racing game a few times, (they didn't have the fishing game back then)...well, after all that, I just sort of ran out of new things to do and so after a while it got boring and gradually I stopped playing. But now that you get some new ability and or prize after reaching a certain level, new rooms added to your apartment, and now that they are constantly adding new things to the game at every turn, all of which has been going on since I started playing the game on facebook, well, now, getting bored with it and losing interest is not likely to happen. lol... Another game I like a lot and probably spend a little to much time is Castle Age. I guess the cure would be whenever I completely conquer all the quests and everything in the game, though that will take quite a while! lol So I guess, basically the cure would be, finding an activity that interest you more than those game so you spend less time playing the games and more time doing something else perhaps? Anyway, did you say you played Yoville? I loves Yoville! We needs to be friends over on facebook so I can see your Yoville pad!

Yeah, I have cafe world too. Oh, and I wasn't suggesting you take up another game, I was just wondering what your farm looks like and your yoville pad, and your cafe, etc. lol However, I guess I can't see them as I am unable to request you as a friend on facebook. I found you, well, I didn't find your page but seen where you commented on Mike's page a few times and things like that, but their isn't an active link under your name allowing me to go to your page to request you. Sigh . Oh well...have fun cooking at the cafe!

The only thing I can say is I am so glad I do not know how to get into the facebook games right now. I would be in terrible trouble if I found another thing onloine to get addicted too! Just looking at some of the names you mentioned did sound intriguing to me and I am forcing myslef not to go to facebook to investigate. I do hope you get over your addiction, or at least have fun trying!

LOL, sorry pyewacket, I can't help you on this one. I too am hopelessly addicted to several games. Farmville was my constant until I finally got sucked into Mafia Wars a couple weeks ago, and then as soon as Cafe World premiered...lol, well you get the picture. I've been cooking up a storm the past week, but none that I can eat myself! I play more games too, but lately these have been the main ones. The only advice I can give you is to try and find a balance. The games are fun, but if you need the money, spend a little time here too. Best of luck! :)

I'm cooking up a storm over there too---and nuts I wonder why I feel hungry all the time..it's from all that cooking even though it's just virtual cooking---want some roast beef? Or chicken dinner, how about French Onion soup?
