Study shows that fear, anger, distrust, worries and any negative feeling and emotions can weaken our nervous system which leads to cancer and life-threatening illness. Each distressing emotions produces a very powerful hormone, called cortisol. This is really a bad hormone, that suppresses the immune system, which is our protections against illness. Thus it is very important to maintained a positive and optimistic attitude in order to be physically and mentally healthy. What do you think about this statement? Please share your thoughts.

Yeah, changes greatly affect our life. It caused us stress, depression, and loneliness because we have lose something important that we used to, our family, friends, a felling of security. But sad to say changes always happens in our life. How about looking change as an opportunity for growth? Make the best of changes you can't prevent rather than wasting your energy fighting them. But take your time, don't push your self and I know you can get through the changes in your life. And you will be more stronger, wiser and confident. Remember that having positive attitude will make your mind and body healthy. Thanks for sharing with us and have a great day!

I believe that is true. I am tremendously suffering from all these things you have mentioned. Recently and within last 3 years I have lost so many things, I have seen so many evil things, so many tortures both physically and emotionally done to me that I think a normal human being can't bear. Now I am questioning everytime to me why I am living? Why? Now I am suffering from so many diseases, mostly from nerve related. I think your mentioned hormone has done its all evil things against me. I am living now, but really don't know why? Thank you for releaving some pain from me.

So sad to hear of your painful experiences. When I was going through a terrible time, one friend said that what doesn't kill us will make us stronger. I hope this will happen to you. That the future will be better than the past.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that my friend. It must be very tough on you. I was also been into a lot of pain and trouble that gets into my bone. But I realized that it's my life, it's my choice and I can change. You need to move on my friend, you're still alive thus you have a reason to live, you have a purpose because you're special and unique just like everybody. As the proverbs goes " The birds does not sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song." You still have life. If you love your self then it can be your reason to live, to love your self and to love others. Thank you for sharing with us and hope you can make it my friend. Enjoy your weekends!

I agree. In order to make our life healthy, we need to have a happy thought. It is useless to have medicine, vitamins, etc, if you are not happy, depressing, stress, and other things that make you unhappy, it will affecting your health in general. If I am thinking that I will have a flu, it is just come true. I really got flu. That's why in the raining season, I try to avoid of thinking about flu at all

Our mind and body is one. So it's natural that disease interact between body and mind, mind and body. The said we have this psychosomatic disease which means illness comes from a mental or personality disturbance and not from a physically dysfunctional organ or system. Yeah, I agree with you, sometimes I think I have headache then it happened so as much as possible I avoid thinking about it. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and have a great day!

It's really hard to forgive and forget but it's possible. Like in your part, you've been deeply hurt by your boyfriend. But you need to forgive, you need to forget your past and live the present. By holding grudges you've given your power to your bf to allow and continue hurting your life. Set your self free, you deserve to be at peace and happy with your self. But the big question is how to forgive and forget? One thing I know is to pray, asked God's help to open your heart to forgive. He is love and forgiveness. And through Him everything is possible. And remember, life is learning we all need to learned everything, and forgiveness is part of it. Everything that happened in our life has a reasons and teach us a lesson. You deserve to be happy and the pathway to happiness is forgiveness. Thank you for sharing with us and I'll pray for you. Enjoy your weekends!

Yeah, I also felt the same thing as yours. I felt so worried and troubled when things went wrong, when it's out of my hand and the thought of tough consequences makes me sleepless, restless and anxious. Thus only makes the situation worse cause I can't think the right solution and it gave me headache. But I'd learned to control my thoughts, through prayers, believing that someone is in control and who cares and love me makes me feel secure and at peace. Yeah, that's the great thing being here in mylot you can express your feelings. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and have a great weekends!

As a therapist myself, I have seen for myself how the negative emotions can effect a person's health. My work deals with stress management and there is strong evidence that states that feelings effect the immune system. This is because the immune system and the nervous system work together. When one part of the system is being effected, there is a sort of transmission through the nervous system to all systems. If emotions are positive and stress levels are low, the the body responds favourably. It emotions are negative and stress levels are high, the body responds by producing tension and resistance and puts unnecessary stress on all the organs. As a Zen practitioner, I practice meditation every day. I still the mind and the nervous system is calmed. Research has shown that experienced meditators and yoga practitioners have great control of their bodies. For instance, heart rates, and body temperature can be controlled to great degrees and some of the masters of the Himalayas are able to meditate in freezing conditions, in flimsy garments and not get cold. - Derek

Our life is actually composed of two parts: material and emotional parts. They affect each other as well as ourselves. When I found my job as a translator, I was very happy and active. But months later I found it boring to work in front of a computer, then I became furious everyday. Later, I suffered from bad headache and gastralgia and had to quit the job! My manager did not understand why I, such a man so interested in translation would quit. What you think will determine how you live .

I'm not sure about cancer etc but emotions definitely influence health. When i am stressed or worried I always get an upset stomach. Stress is also very bad for the heart. Negative emotions can consume so much energy that it makes sense they they also have a negative effect on the body. Conversely, positive emotions can make you feel healthier - hence why people in love often look radiant!

I certainly believe that our emotions can affect our health. As the saying goes.. laughter is still the best medicine. Having distress emotions such as anxiety, hate, anger and all the other negative emotion can affect our health in a bad way. I have seen people who are prone to high blood tensions because of their lifestyle and attitude with life. There are people that have anger-management problem and most of them may find a sign of hyper tension and heart disease. As for me having a positive outlook in life...taking every moment beautiful and special are the things that we should do in order to have a happy life. And having a happy life means having a healthy heart.

i believe that, it happened to me once. one time i was sick, back problems. ususally it heals after couple of days or a week or two, but that time was so bad, i thought that i might not be able to recover, i was scared that what if i couldn't walk in the future, blah, blah, blah, which make me very sad, i was depressed for quiet a while, that did not help me with my sickness, but make it worse, during that period i got more problems for different part of body. now i think that because of the depression, and the bad emotions, my body became weak, and it gets easy for the virus to enter. so now no matter what i try to stay happy, optimistic, because the world is just awesome.

Yeah, you're right as much as possible it's great to stay positive and happy in our life. We are not God we can't control everything. In life we need to go on the flow and accept changes. It's easy to change our thoughts than to change the environment, people and events. Thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your weekends!

it is absolutely true. when we are in sorrow or depression, various kinds of diseases may occur. it is said that almost everyone has cancer cells in their body but under control. when people are in low spirits, their immune system will not work well then those cancer cells are likely to be out of control. so let's try to be in positive mood.

I believe negative emotions are detrimental too our health because I've heard of cases where people dying of a broken heart.(extreme sadness) I suggest God, self help books, calming herbs, fresh air, a new hobby and vitamins. Also try reading jokes for a good laugh every day, research shows that people who laugh more have higher immune systems.

Hi careguarden! I do believe in that statement. For me, the mind is a very strong factor in our health. It can always influence our physical condition. For instance, when we always think that we have a sickness or something, then there's a very big chance that we'll get that sickness. It's kinda like the saying "Laughter is the best medicine", because with laughter comes happy and pleasant thoughts, which in return would cause the body to release the "happy" hormones that are beneficial to our health. I'm no doctor but I really do believe in these statements since it has been somehow proven by research :)

It was proven by research. And even with our own experiences we know that when we felt bad we automatically lose our appetite and we lack the energy to tackle our day and so on., so we know the importance of having a positive attitude and the effect it could give into our health. Anyway thank you for sharing with us my friend and enjoy the rest of the day!

i agree. Emotions can influence a persons health. just take note of the number of diseases which causes remained unspecified, physicians always associate it with stress.Hence, at its worst i believe it may lead to cancer because when people are stressed or sad the immune system cannot fight well with the contaminants that the system encounters.
• Philippines
15 Oct 09
Yeah, I agree with you. There are so many diseases that causes were still unknown yet they link it with stress relation. Negative emotions has big impact into our health conditioned . It was like a power on belief. As they said only believe and you will be healed. That's the how much our mind and emotions plays into our life. Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!
