I definitely prefer typing out a message than handwriting it. I think my penmanship has suffered over the past few years for this very reason. I just don't write out very many things by hand anymore.

Hi, 1anurag1. I prefer to write on either or. It all depends on what I am writing. I like both of them because they are needed when I am using it for the particular task.

I do both. Certain things I prefer to write in order to keep my handwriting neat and intact, but obviously for browsing the Web, I type. When I was in college, I didn't have any choice when it came to writing papers--I had to type (try writing a 10-page paper...it wreaks havoc on the wrists!).

I like to write straight to the computer. You can easily edit and upload or save it immediately. On writing, your hand gets easily strained.

HI 1anurag1! Typing on a computer makes thing easy. First it is very easy to use and if you make mistakes it is easy to delete. Before when you want to write you need to make a draft first before writing the final one. While typing in a computer, you can directly write without worrying to make mistakes. Thanks to the backspace key! Cheers!!

Like you I have changed my style. I used to write things before typing them in the computer. But now, I just type them directly on my laptop and do the editing later on. It is much faster that way rather than writing on a pad of paper and typing them on the computer.

its depends upon thinking that what we like to most .. if i have laptop in my hand and a diary i choose the laptop first , because i like it. and i feel boring when i just do write with a pen.. and it can be take more time to write... it depends on condition also if i give a exam on computer than i choose a paper to write .

I am fond of writing but my sheet tends to get dirty with erasures and stuff. Besides there are times where I tend to get my spelling wrong as well as my grammar in a certain language. However, when I am using the computer, it's faster and cleaner. Though I still love writing, I think typing is better if you are running against time... Presently, I only write if I were to take certain notes. But since my course requires me to be fast as well as efficient, I am training myself to learn how to type better and faster.

I definately prefer typing, it is tidier, cleaner and keeps everything looking much nicer when presented to another person, whereas paper is easier to access, it is messier and ends up looking dirty when showng somebody else. There is also the case of handwriting, whereas mine is pretty good, there are those who may lack legible handwriting, so for them a computer is most useful, as the letters are not put down to the person but to the font that they use instead. Then there is accessibility and spelling, where paper would win on costs and how accessible it is. However, the compter has spellchecking, and most word processors now have a lot of features too, allowing a nicer access for those doing high end projects too. So I would prefer a computer anyday.

I type faster than I can write so I usually like typing. Even if you write something, you may need to type it eventually, so I save time by doing it all at once.

After watching this discussion, I tried to write on my notebook and found that I could not write in a good handwriting. I have nearly forgotten to write in Hindi, my Mother language. Someday I used to be the student with the best handwriting in my whole class, and look now what I have done, better to say Mouse and Keyboards have done to me. I have problem signing on a paper now.

I still prefer writing the good old fashioned way- with pen and paper. My thoughts tend to come more freely and coherently when I write this way.

Hmm this is actually a hard dicision for me. I think I prefer writing over typing on the computer. Writing on a lined piece of paper makes my creative juices flow more than it would typing. If I typed everything then I would feel like it was more like a chore than just expressing myself. Also it's a lot more work to type. You have to print everything out, and it's way slower than just writing things down an a piece of paper.

It depends on the circumstance. When I was in the class, even if I had one mini laptop, I would prefer writing on a paper to typing on a computer, as it was simpler that way that time. But daily, I prefer writing on computer because I've been using computer for the half of my life now and I can type very very fast, just like everybody does. I choose typing on computer just because it is simpler to do so, and I don't have to carry a lot of written papers and no need to tidy it properly. =)

I am probably one of the oddballs in today's society when it comes to this question. I much prefer to write on the old dependable paper and then when it is time to make revisions to whatever I've been writing, then I move the work over to the computer at that point. I started this habit many years ago when I was in college and it seems to be a habit that I've never been able to break. Now, as far as forum posting and stuff like that, those are usually stream of consciousness so they aren't really thought out and take place exclusively on the computer.

I never really thought about it, but I guess I would have to say the computer. I know I would rather read others handwriting in the typing world LOL. I do think though that handwriting should still be encouraged, and not let go, as far as education goes.
