Were you ever in a high school clique?

We send our children to school to get a food education. Sometimes I think children think of school as more of a gathering place to socialize with their friends. When they reach high school, there seem to be a lot of different cliques to fall into. Were you ever in a high school clique?

I am not sure if you could say that I was in one or not, I socialized with all different types of other kids cliques. There were about 4 of us that were always together in and out of school but then when we were in school we were able to hang with a bunch of different clusters. I also think school has become more of a social playground then a learning center...i was talking to a friend of mine and she was saying how her daughter and her friends only seem to talk about how this boy or this girl did this and all of the drama gossip that happened that day and nothing about school work. Things sure have changed from when I was in school and not for the better.

i can certainly relate to school becoming a social place instead of a place of learning. How did the social agenda of school become more important than education? Thank you for adding your views to this discussion.

I am not sure how it got so bad...it is a shame that it has. I guess it is just the whole thing of how much better one person is than the other. There has always been that there in schools on the way you judged people by their clothes, back packs, shoes, etc but I think it has just became so much worse and now it is all about "groups" in the way of my group is better than yours in so it becomes all about what social group you are in. Thanks for best response.

I am daddy's little girl when I was in high school.Although I have many friends (no boy friends)I never join in any clique.I always do as what my parents and teachers ask me to do,so I always got high score in examinations. Some people admired me while some especially those who are in school clique looked down upon me.Anyway, I don't care.

I suppose so. Me and all my friends my up the top 20% of our class in academics. But I did speak with everyone but my closest friends were excellent students.

it is common and necessary in high school to find your own clique but i see it as a natural process when i get into a clique. first you should find the same topic you share with the clique or you can not blend into it. we can not change the clique phenomenon we must blend into in or you can choose to blind it and walk on your road.do remember that you are unique in the world .
