My granddaughter and I went to the county fair yesterday. it was opening day anf only cost us a dollar to get in. We walked around looking at the exhibits. She wanted to check out the decorated cakes since she works in the bakery. She is wanting to be a cake decorator. It was nice no big crowds. It was raining and misty off and on. Of course we had to have some fair food. She wanted Frisk fries, deep fried mushrooms and elephant ears. We sat beside a gentleman that drove over 60 miles just for the polish sausage. Had a nice conversation. What junk food do you have to have from the fair.

I have not been to the fair in a very long time. They have all kinds of food there that I like to eat. I like to get the homemade fudge, polish sausage, candy apple, elephant ears, nachos, BBQ chicken and you name it.

I was disappointed with the elephant ears this year. Making them at home is better. One exhibitor gave away some samples of chicken sausage. It was good but not $6.00 a pound. There are so many choices that a person could gain 10 pounds just during the fair.

Glad to hear you were able to go to the Fair and had a wonderful time. My husband and I actually were able to get to ours this yr. as well and had a wonderful time as well. Just had to have an Elephant ear ourselves, and a Corn on the cob. I wanted to get the Curly fries but everytime we got some real food we picked food that was filling so I never got those. But it was nice to get to walk around and see all the exhibits and just enjoy a nice time together.

Fairs are a great way too see what other people are doing. They have a huge sand sculpture that they do every year. It is finished the last day of the fair. One really gets a good walk going to all the exhibits. I'm not sure which ones I enjoy the most. I wanted to see the farm animals but got too tired.

Hi, deebomb. I am very glad to see that you and your granddaughter enjoyed being at the fair. When I will go, I enjoy eating french fries and hamburgers. That is my favorite junk food. I love elephant ears too. It is very warm and tasty. And my next favorite is the apples on the sticks. Candy apples. I love the strawberry glaze and the cold apple underneath it. I really don't care too much for the peanuts on the apples like that. I just like it plain.

It was really nice but started getting cold with the rain and mist when we were leaving. I don't think any place was serving hot tea. Here it is usually very sweet tea that is served.Yes South Carolina is a nice friendly place.
