Sad thing to do! We had to give away our dog when we moved. We had him for 5 years, have you ever had to give away your dog?

We've actually had to give a few dogs away over the last few years. Well 10 years I guess. I always wanted a dog but my mom never let us have one. As soon as I moved out on my own I got a dog. We had her for a year or two but then we moved and where we were moving she wouldn't have much yard to run in and it was right along the road so I was afraid she would get hit. Over the next few years we tried with a few dogs but our life kept changing. Every time I got pregnant the dog we had went nuts. A perfect house trained dog all the sudden just went every where and wouldn't listen. We waited a few years till things settled down and we bought a house and the kids were older. We actually just got a puppy. It's a 6 week old yellow lab and come hell or high water we are keeping this one.

Did you HAVE to move to an area with a ban? Couldn't you have moved somewhere close instead so you wouldn't of had to give up your pit? I would die if I had to give mine up.

Fortunately I have never had to give up a pet before. Although my boys had to give up there dog a few years ago. Their father had bought them a dog for at his house and when he had to move there were no pets allowed in the new place. He wanted me to take it but I had no room or the money for it so they had to find a good home for the dog.

I've never have had to give up any of my dogs only because I refuse to live anywhere I couldn't have them. Same with my cats. If they aren't allowed then neither am I.

NO, I never gave a dog away that I owned. At 5 years old x7 years to human years, that is like a 35 year old person or a devorse... REMEMBER ALWAYS LUV/ CARE FOR YOUR DOG/ PET, THEY WILL ALWAYS LUV U..

How upsetting for you. No, we haven't had to give away any animal. We've been in the same house for 36 years so we were lucky enough to have our pets to the end. It would break my heart to give away a pet. Our dogs have all been inside dogs so I grow very attached to them.

No! I even brought my cats to the States with me from Europe. I would have given my husband away before giving one of my pets away!

I have not "had" to. But I would like to!!! My hubby claims he "loves" the dog. Well he only plays with him when he's on the porch smoking that is it. He picked out the dog cause he was "cute" & he could train him for hunting. Haven't seen him train the dog & his messes aren't so cute! IMO if he wants to keep him he should take care of him not me! I'm trying to convince him he needs a better home & I've been trying for years! I keep getting the line "he was your birthday present" tossed at me ... I could go on & on but I'll leave it at that. I'm sorry you had to give your dog away. If he was a good companion and friend to the family it must be hard for you.

when we moved to Tennessee about 6 years ago. We had a golden Retriever that we had for about 3 years and we left him with friends until we got settled in. When i went back to get him in about 2 weeks i found that my friends 8 year old daughter was so attached to the dog that i did not have the heart to take him from her. So even though i was heart broken, i could not hurt her. When i got back home with out my dog my husband went out and got me a little begal.

its a very sad feeling, my dog gave birth 3 puppies and we dont have enough budget to feed them all aside from them i still have 3 other dogs, so if we keep them we will have a total of 7 dogs, my mother would go crazy, so when they are big enough to go to a new home , we gave them away to the right ones, ones who loved dogs and wont leave them and will take care of them... well, they have new homes now and the good news is i can still see them, my neighbors have them, til now, they still know me and like to play and jump... they wag their tail so crazy ... they are so happy to see me...

I have never had to give away a dog that I have had. I wouldn't be able to do it. I am such a dog lover, that I would lose it if I had to give away my 4 year old Golden Retriever. I have had her since she was 8 weeks old and raised her. If I moved, and took her with me, I would FIND a place that accepts pets. I would be heartbroken if I had to give her up. Emma is like my kid though. She is spoiled rotten. So, that would be like giving up my kid. I couldn't do it.

I have had to give away one dog. After divorcing my husband, he asked for the dog that we had purchased together. Even though I know the dog will be well taken care of, it's still hard to let go of a little creature that you get with the intention of keeping for the rest of his life.

When I was a student, I got a dog. But my dad didn't like this dog. Besides, this dog had bad behaviors and therefore I had to give it away to someone else. I was so sad to do so. I love China
