You are here bringing a light to the Lot for this weekend! So good to see you back home and thank yuo for your wishes. I guess youhave a lot to tell us about what has happened while you were away. I don't have a favourite festival or holiday now. Everything seems to have become too commercialised and has lost the real meanings as I remember them years ago. As long as everyone is happy then I make evry day a festival even though it may not be onthe calendar as such

flower festival float - a hotdog company float of flowers
so the real challenge will still be on Monday then.. i just checked the diwali fest and it's not only fest of lights but inner lights of an individual which i think i need. yeah parade of flowers but no significant meaning but just to show that our hometown has this beautiful flowers.

That's so sad that you are going to celebrate alone.. Here also the preparations start from 3 days before itself.. It is really fun with family and friends. Because everyone is working in different places and all of them will visit their places during holidays and we all see each other. Have a great day.

really you don't know. It is celebrated in navaratri and epecially very popularly celebrated in Gujarat. If you are watching hindi news channel then in new too they shows this popular celebration of gujarat.Garba is just a type of dance. Most of gujarati are very passionate about this festival. Wherever there is a gujarati colony in this world they celebrate this festive in small or big way. So it is not a small festival of Garba but very popular. Have a nice time.

By now, you are probably enjoying the festival...sounds like alot of fun. Here in my town, we have, what we call, the Johnny Appleseed Festival. Johnny Appleseed is supposed to have planted the first Apple Tree in our Country, in our home town. So we have a big festival in the center of our town..lots of food, amusements, music,a parade...and then at the end we have beautiful fireworks. It is fun to go to every year, when there are tons of people to see.

Dear dbutheking, Welcome home my 'King', how have you been? How's everything, I am so curious.. Have you got new outfits for this wonderful festival? In Malaysia, the school is close today till Tuesday for Diwali. Wednesday school will reopen. We called this Festival of Lights, Deepavali and Diwali. I enjoyed eating Puri My favourite festival will be Christmas. I like to see Christmas carols, decorate Christmas tree and wrap presents. See the smile on the faces when they open their gifts. Enjoy festival food.. Happy Diwali to you and your family. Do keep in touch!

Well I hope you have a blessed holiday season. When in a class about the anthropology of Holidays Diwali was one of my favorite to learn about as I had never even heard about it before then. I then asked a friend I had grown up with and celebrated with his family one year. His Grandmother is the best cook ever by the way. I am Irish and for us Halloween is more then just a day to beg for candy. There are many traditions that help bring friends and family together. You can go to http://www.history.com/content/halloween/real-story-of-halloween if you do not know the history of the day. Many of the traditions have been warped in America unfortunately.

Hello, Happy Diwali to all the Indians in the world. I have already forgotten how the Diwali festival was like. I just remembered all the lights and candles that were lit. I think one of my favorites would be the Holi Hai. I was a bit hesitant first to join in the color splashing but since we will not be admitted to the party without painted faces and arms, I eventually gave in. It was quite fun but I made sure that I put on my oldest clothes. This was in 1992, my first and only Holi Hai in Delhi.
