Will you open your door to Bible carrying religious workers?

I see many religious people going around knocking on doors asking for time either to talk or conduct Bible studies. They meant well but in today's society when it's even more difficult to trust stangers, it's difficult to just let anybody in our homes. What do you think? will you flatly turn them down? What is the polite way of doing it?

my mother tells me to just tell those people that my mother is not in the house and she has strictly left instructions not to let stranger into the house. i find it hard to turn down people, especially concerning religious matters, but there are times when i really do not want to listen. this is because these people who are knocking on our doors and non-catholics and they say things that clash with my belief. i respect what they believe in that's why i'd rather not listen cause i might also send messages, unconsciously, that i am not interested in what they are saying.

not only bible-carrying religious workers but to all other people with "special offers" wanting to get inside the house. we had been very careful not to let strangers go inside the house even before that particular threat on our lives in the past. now, we are doubly or a a lot of times more careful than before. it is always our house helper who answers the door bell gate and he already knows what to tell the "guests" if they ask permission to get inside the house. the house helper would always say that we are out and that he is instructed not to let anybody in. we also have a door bell "code" for people living in the house and very close relatives. we agree on how many times our door bell is rang and that gives us a hint that we know the person outside our gate. it is also beneficial for us to locate the house structure a distance away from the gate (it gives us time to hide, just in case, )

Sometimes it is very risky to allow the strangers at home.Whether it is religious workers or service people. Here in India many incidents of theft, cheating, rape and murder are reoported in the media caused by the strangers. They will tell that they are from the servicing department of Telephone Line, Gas Connection or something else and they will enter home. Many times, I used to flatly turned down and sometimes, I will tell them to just go away as I am not free.

i don't really allow strangers to come inside our house, even though they're carrying bible. i don't easily trust people especially strangers, because there are many bad people existing today, pretending to be good just to come inside the house and explore something inside that be a way of how to rob inside the house.
