Humans are ungrateful.

I been thinking about something that bothers me and makes me upset at the same time. People are ungrateful. I see kids yelling for an ice cream, because they don't like their current taste. Off course, they are kids. But man, be happy with what you have. People are jealous because some friend bought an iPhone. Be happy with what you have. You have a house to live in, you can go to college, you can get a job. Others in the world don't have any of them. People wish for more. Way too much. They got a house, they got a nice car. They have a job. Nothing is wrong with making a wish, but people who already have a lot wish for more. What about the poor? Some people deny to eat some food, simply beacuse they don't like it. They dont realise that somewhere in the world there are kids who would kill for that. BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE!!!

mdesigning yes we are a lot of times ungrateful for what we already have and whine for more. But to me not wanting to eat certain things is not necessarily bad as for some people like myself certain high carb foods are not good for diabetics and shoot our blood sugar up way too high, so if we refuse and the people treating us get surly I have to remind them that we cannot just eat any old thing set in front of us. Also many parents expect small kids to eat the large amounts of food the parents consume, no, it is asking too much of a kid with a smaller tummy. so yes sometimes we refuse to eat some food. that food can just be put back in the fridge. So it is not always because we dont like something, but because it could make us sick.

I totally agree with what you said but it's not exactly what I meant. For instance, my mother dislikes fish. If my father makes dinner with fish, she could (not always) refuse to eat it. Simply because the dislikes the smell of fish. In that case I believe she should be thankful that she has something to eat. "No matter how hard your life is, someone has it worse than you".

Not many people are happy with what they have, they should be but it is our nature to aspire for more. That can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your point of view. I have a few cats that are more grateful than a few people I know and they only want food and a bit of attention.

Personally this is so true. We should be Happy with what we have, and if you are not then do something about it to change it. Too often there are still too many out there, especially the younger generation these days that seem to want something for nothing, and then complain when they can't have it. Personally if more people had to work for what they have, and accept it until they get there there would be a lot less problems in the world today for sure.

Unfortunately it has become human nature to want more than you have. That is why the world is the way it is today. There are definate downsides to wanting more, but think of it this way --- We would not have electricity, technology, and medicine (just to name a few) if people did not want more. Those things were all discovered because someone wanted more. If we were always happy with what we have then we would be walking everywhere and hunting to survive. We would live like cavemen. So wanting more is not always bad...as parents we need to teach our children good wanting from bad wanting.

It's human nature. We humans in general has no satisfaction. It can't be changed. Ungratefulness or no satisfaction, it will remain with us for the rest of our lives and in the following generations to come. It's forever. shadow41

I totally agree with you and think a lot like you do. I hate it that we are so materialistic. Someone does better than you in life, and you cry and mope. I think it's good to have dreams. One should try to improve oneself. But that does not mean, one needs to be upset coz someone has done better than you. Most of us have so much to be grateful for. There are so many people in the world who don't have electricity, walk miles to get water every single day, can't speak their minds, have no freedom to live the way they want to.. and yet, we crib that we don't have enough. I am glad you brought this up. God bless you.

I get what you mean. I felt this intensely last September 26 when typhoon Ondoy/Ketsana forced me and my family to stay on the roof for 17 hours. I could see our neighbors on top of the roof shivering from the cold rain. I have talked to a lot of people who choose to question why God put us in such a situation, destroying my house, putting my and my entire family's lives. I, on the other hand, choose to count my blessings. True, I was on the roof but I was blessed with family members who had the presence of mind to pack necessities such as food, extra clothes, rain protection and water. I also thank God that I was not faced with the difficult decision of whether I should try and rescue a neighbor or not, unlike other people in my village who had to watch helplessly as someone drowned or swept away by the strong current. I also thank God that the things that I lost were things I could afford to lose. I choose to look at life and be grateful. I think this is a healthier approach to life. I choose to ignore the negative vibes sent out by pessimists.

You got it. Gratitude is everything in life. I don't care how rich you are, you are poor without gratitude.

its human nature. people always want more than they already have, its hard for most people to ever be satisfied. our appetites just keep increasing! but yes, we definitely shouldnt take for granted all that we do have, which is often quite a bit.

You're right, there is a lot of people that can't be happy with the things they already have, but you shouldn't involve everyone else ('cause not all the people in the world are that way). But think a bit this, as humans, we are still learning and we are impure and imperfect. We commit sins and mistakes because of that, we still need to learn many things, so be calm. One thay, i don't know, humans will be less imperfect and impure than now, beacuse we will make many mistakes and i hope we learn from them.
