Hi casper20! (I like your name hehe) I used to love crocheting when I was younger. We were required to learn that in school and it was not at all hard or a torture for me. A lot of my friends don't like crochehting because the were having a ard time being consistent on their projects but since my mother also enjoys crocheting a lot, she taught me techniques so I never hated it. There were even times before that my mother and I would have crocheting sessions especially during holidays. We love creating stuff for the holidays either for decoration or for gifts. But since I have grown to love other hobbies (like going online) and she started to have some eye problems, we stopped crocheting. :(

Yes, I love to crochet. We learned in the first grade at school, both boys and girls did it. I know my brother liked to crochet when he was a kid. When you have learned how to do it, it is easy to create your own things, combining colors, patterns and different types of yarn. It is possible to make real works of art. It is also possible to use small scraps and pieces of yarn to make some great and beautiful clothes or things you can hang on the wall - well - there is no limit..

It took me a long time to finally figure out how to crochet. I don't know how to make 3D things like toys or hats but I can do a decent blanket or scarf.

I tried to show a friend who is 30 and she kept making it more difficult; I showed a student in the 5th grade and she took to it instantly. Some people just learn differently.

Hi Casper20, I like to crochet even though I'm not very good and still have alot to learn. I'm working on a shell stitch blanket and it seems to be coming along nicely. I have trouble unterstanding the pattern instructions for most of the projects. I know given time I'll be able to understand them better. It just takes practice and the good thing about crochet is if you make a mistake nothing is wasted or broken. Just unravel it and you can't fix it easy enough! Happy crocheting

My sister has tried crocheting too, but she just can't do it. I did teach her how to knit, and she finds it much easier. I think for some people, it's very hard to figure out how to hold the yarn. She's really taken off with knitting, though! She has made some cute things (like a sweater shrug) without a pattern. See if your sister can try another needle art like knitting or needlepoint, and she can join you & your friends when you get together. Just a thought...
