Is it true that Philippines is the number 1 BPO country? In the past 8 years call centers starts to boom in the Philippines and seems like it's still growing. It provides a lot of jobs for Filipinos.

There are a lot of call centers here in the Philippines. They chose it here because the salary is much cheaper. I used to work in a call center also. But decided to quit because of the irate callers who will just degrade you most of the time.

I agree with you that because of the cheap salaries all developed countries will use the developing countries for outsourcing .I can understand your concern about the irrate callers, who will degrade the call centre staff. It is not their mistake. They are paying for the service and they are not getting the good service from the companies, infact the service lower than poor. Moreover the call centre staff has no knowledge about the activities of these companies. I used to fire some call centre staff, because their knowlege and the convincing capability is very poor in this regard.

I do agree with you that the reason why companies do outsource is because of lower labor rate. And since the Philippines has better speakers, they all go to our country. The sad part is that employees get harassed by irate callers and it is causing more stress than the physical hard labor.

No doubt, because Philippines is one if not the best english speaking country in asia and combined that with a low salary, companies engaged in call centers will definitely choose the Philippines for their business.

Hi..dekada I agree with you that the fluency in English apart from the chepa salary in Philippines will attract a lot of BPOs. One more reason is that Philippines are a hardworking commmunity

I heard that Phillipians is the country which has maximum number of call centers and BPOs in the world. I live in India and we have lots of call centers here too. It is not easy to get into call centers here. You need to possess a degree and have good verbal and written English to get into a call center. A problem with call center is that you need to work in night shfits which affects the health of a person.

It used to be India a few years ago, I just don't know if it's the Philippines now. Although we can't deny the fact that BPO is like mushroom in the Philippines. We also have to into consideration the global financial crisis that hit the US where most of our BPO clients are from. But it's a good thing that we have it since it keeps our economy alive. I just hope that some day, we can get past where our college graduates just end up as call center agents where they can apply their skills to real jobs. Cheers!

India is also one of the largest BPO company in the world. But I dont have the statistics to prove that India is the Number One. Anyway as a fellow mylotter, I dont want to prove which is number one or two. Here what I wanted to say that Philippines will be one of the largest or the best BPO destination because of its proximity to U.S. They are eyeing all the educated and developing nations for their outsourcing because here the manpower is cheap. One way these BPO provided a lot of job to the developing countries.
