Have You Ever Seen the Snow? It's Snowing Here.

China
October 20, 2009 6:52pm CST
I've personally seen snow lots and lots of times, and now, it's snowing here, Harbin, China. For various reasons, there are a ton of people who have not seen snow before. Everytime, when it's snowing, I tend to stay at home and surf the Internet for it is getting so cold outside. Have you ever seen the snow? How many times in your life have you seen snow in your country? Do you LOVE a snow day?

In our country India, it never snows. May be near the Himalaya mountain, at Kashmir, it may be snowing but not inside India. I have seen snowing only in movies and I heard and read about it. I very much want to see snowing.

Just like you Buchi, I hadn’t seen any real snow before. I longed for seeing it since my childhood. My dream had come to true finally few years back. Yeah, I was so lucky that I had the opportunity to visit a temperate country in winter season. The snowy landscapes are really fascinating As we know where there is a will, there is always a way. Since you live a life of leisure now, it’s nice for you to visit the region around Himalaya Mountain or the mountain. I wonder whether it is the nearest place where snow is available. If I’m not mistaken there would be snow at the end of the year. Hopefully you could see the real beautiful snowy scene personally very soon

When it snows it seems as though there is some sort of magic taking place. The smell in the air is different too and the more it lies on the ground building up and getting deeper then there also seems to be a strange silence everywhere. If it snows on Christmas Day then it is just beautiful! Then the next day here in Italy after it snows we usually get a glorious sunny day with blue skies. I live right next to the mountains and when they are snow-covered it is something I have never got used to seeing. It is a breath-taking sight to see! If it snows any other time of the year though then I am not so happy about it. I have to get to work and I am useless at driving on the messy roads after snow. I have to arrange for someone to pick me up

All that greenery sounds just as beautiful! When is the best time to visit to see it at its best? I work all over the Christmas period so you wouldn't have a guide to take you far...

Ting I did not say you couldn't come but I pointed out, before inviting you, that you would be alone for most of the time If all you come for is to see the snow then that would not cause you any problems I know but I just thought I'd warn you first

Oh yes, I'm very familiar with snow. In my state, snow usually comes somewhere in December until February, althouh I can recall a snow storm on my 13th birthday and that was in the first of March. But I'm 28 now, and I don't remember a lot of snow around my birthday since then.

Oh I love the snow!! looking forward to it later during Christmas. Back where I come from in South Africa there is no snow unfortunately as we are on the southern hemisphere, no snow falls. We just get occasional hail storms but not snow. I loved the snow period in London in January.. it was awesome to build a snowman and just have fistful snow fights!

I've never had the chance to see snow before. I've always wanted to see it though. I live in Florida so we don't get snow. In 1989 it got cold enough that it snowed here, but it melted as soon as it touched the ground. I went to New York one year during Christmas but it didn't snow then. I hope to see snow one day, especially since my daughter wants to see it.

I have seen snow, lots of times. It is not snowing where I live yet, but it will be in a couple of months. I know, there are people in the United States who have never seen snow, but I live in Kansas, and we get snow here. I do not get the choice to stay home and surf the internet if it snows, I have people that I have to take care of, and so I go to work.

Hi getbrowser, if I’m not wrong, Harbin the place where you live is well known for its ice engraving during winter season. I have seen this amazing art of ice engraving in documentary. There are unique and attractive. just opposite to you! I live in a tropical country where the weather here is totally different from that in your place. We could learn how the snowy scene looks like by watching documentary or movie only. We regard that we are lucky if we could experience the real snowy scene in winter season. I had sighted the real snowy scene when I spent a two days vacation in Mountain Emei in your country few years back. Lucky eh... I was in a great pleasure to stand under the snowing spot the first time. I had captured lots of photos of the fascinating snowy landscape. I had fun throwing snowballs at my companions as well. The only thing I couldn’t stand was the severe coldness there. It was under 0 degree C! It's quite difficult for me to capture photos. My fingers seemed like stiff without leather gloves But it couldn't work at all if wearing the gloves! Happy posting

It’s really amazing to see so many fascinating master pieces of ice sculptures displayed in the Snow Sculpture Festival getbrowser From the documentary I could see so many of them are wonderful and unique sculptures in huge sizes. I believe the skillful ice sculpture artists must have spent lots of time and effort to create such amazing products. It's rather sorry to learn that the artistic works couldn't be preserved after the severe winter season. Hopefully I have chance to witness the beautiful and dazzling scene myself personally. Take care and have a nice day!

Yeah, you are right. Harbin is famous as "Ice City" for its long and cold winter. Every year, the city will hold Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, which is a huge festival and beautiful scenery.

There is indeed so much to learn on here! I had never thought of it snowing in China either. I am also noticing how each country has users here right now saying that is it is colder than usual everywhere. It's fun noticing that this is being ssid from so many different parts of the world and by people we know and we are aware of it here on the Lot!

Yeah, it is impossible to meet a snow day in your country. In fact, in the south of China, people there also have no chance to saw snow for there are full of much rainfall.

I live in the Southern USA. Normally it is fairly warm here, but we do have snow every so often. We have the good kind of snow. It snows early in the morning & melts by lunch. I love watching it snow, but I hate having to be out in the snow!!! About once every 10 years we get 1-2 foot if snow & EVERYTHING just stops!!! Nobody knows how to deal with any real snow accumulation. When I was young, it snowed every weekend for a month, so I've seen snow but not as familiar with it as people who live where it snows all winter like upstate New York or Canada where houses are covered in snow. More than 1 inch here & everything closes down!!!

I lived in WV. We use to get a lot of snow during winter. Now it's nothing compared to what it use to be. I remember getting snow almost every christmas or at least having some snow on the ground. Now you rarely have snow during the christmas season and the snow comes earlier in the year than it use to.

I have seen snow in a few different states in the USA. I love it. I think it is refreshing and beautiful. But, it is also very dangerous to drive in it. I live in a desert now, and we only get sunshine 365 a year. I miss the snow.

Hello getbrowswer. I have seen snow many times in my life though we don't necessarily have snow each year. When it snows, southern people get very excited, especially children, who love to play with snow and make snowmen. I love snow as well. I think that snow helps a lot dealing with those bugs hidden somewhere in the ground. I wish we would have some snow this winter.

In China? how interesting. It snows here in the northwest quite abit although it doesn't stick for long. Usually have snow on the ground around Christmas but now more than that around here. It can be very pretty to look out on but I don't care to be out in for long. Cold. Not into the cold.

It's only snowed here a couple of times in my life that I would consider it to have "snowed" I live in Wilmington, NC USA. I'm on the ocean, so the warm air blowing in off the sea keeps it from snowing here in the winter the majority of the time. It did snow last winter, just enough to barely cover the ground. Everyone was outside taking pictures and stuff. The last time I can remember it really snowing was in the year 1989. I was in grade school and school was close for 2 days because we just are not equipped to handle traveling in the snow here.
