Love is the test of True Friendship

We are told in the book of Proverbs that a friend loves at all times. There couldn't be a better definition of friendship. Most people are looking for a friend lke that and when one is found, it is value beyond price.
So what makes a friend? Proverbs mentions love and that it is operating all the time. Love is a word that is so over used these days it's hard to define in this context uless we consider what qualities make up love in friendship. We often think of love as an emotion, but when love expresses itself in action it can be exercised all the time not just when the emotional impulse kicks in. How does it operate in a friendship? What are the qualities of true friend?

Hello friend,
Love can be define in many ways and many words or even in a single word.
But,it's not how we define the true meaning of it..unless we had done sacrifices in the name of Love.
You were saying about Proverbs...ok,i may say...is there any greater love than the GOD' LOVE to HIS MANKIND?...when GOD gave HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON FOR THE SALVATION OF HUMAN RACE.
Have you ever heared or have you ever seen any mother or father ever sacrificed their child to be crucified in the name of love?
Love in friendship can be determine with the honesty and self-sacrifice for the sake of it.

You are absolutely right that there is no love greater than GOD'S LOVE: John 3:16.
"God so loves the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believe in Him should perish but have everlasting life." Abraham sacrificed his only son Isaac
to God, but God stopped him at the last moment.That was ancient times.In this 21st.
century can we find any parent willing to sacrifice his only son for others? Fathers or mothers, however may sacrifice themselves for their children's crimes by admitting that it is their wrongdoings and their children's. God' love is still supreme.

A friend is someone who has always got your back. Your friend will love you at your best and will love you at your worst. A friend is the one you can trust with your life and the one who can make your heart sing even if you are sad just because he or she is there. A friend can keep you company even if neither of you are taking. A friend just ‘knows’ and no words are usually needed. A friend will always know just the right gift for you.
Have you heard the old joke, “A friend helps you move. A good friend helps you move bodies?” Funny but kind of true, don’t you think?

A true friends cares about your feelings just as much as they care about their own.A true friend supports you anyway they can. They may disagree but they don't demean your decision. they listen I mean really listen to you and try to understand.

Love as described in Proverbs is pure true love. In this modern world as compared to Solomon's is so different. Is there really true love? True love is sacrificial beyond self. The person whom you love come first. This may be true to a mother's or father's love for the children. Father or mother will sacrifice for their children's
happiness. Husband or wife may sacrifice for each other so that the other may be happy. But for friend to sacrifice for another friend in this rapid fast moving world is hard to find. May your desire of seeking true pure friendship come true.

I firmly believe that true friendship is essential if a person is going to have a healthy and long term love relationship. Without friendship, how can there be love, which is a much higher and deeper emotion in a relationship?
I think a good friend is someone who looks out for you and likes you for who you are. A friend is someone who has the same interests as you and doesn't talk about you behind your back. Friends are people who you love and look out for. Most of my friends are my true friends - we just joke and when we have problems we can talk to each other without feeling ashamed of what the problem is. I always seem to be happy around them

hi feodda, i think a quality of true friend is honesy and sincereness. i do not like to make those friends who would say bad words beyond you. and you know love is important in true friend. for me, i hate to be cheated, so honesty is a most important quality in making friends. my friends always be honest to me, me the same.

the Bible also says that a friend sticks closer than a brother and for that to work out there must be love? a true friend should be trustworthy and confidential and be willing to give first than recieving. Love is the basis of true friendship

Well I think everyone has their own meaning of a true friend... As for me, a friend is someone who you can always count on, just like family, a friend should always be around when you are in need, a friend understands every silly thing that you might be going through, a friend does not judge, a friend is always willing to help no matter what the problem might be, a friend is someone that should love you unconditionally! I thanks God often for giving me such good friends... I am truly thankful! Well have a nice day feodda!

How does love operates in friendship? Love acts like a:
1. HAND-- ready to reach and help friends
2. EARS--hears the sighs and sorrows of friends
3. EYES---Sees joy and misery of friends
And those above are the qualities of true friend...
